Rudy,

I kind of figured that is what Kelly was getting at.  She's always reminding us "you still need to be able to run off the bike".

Either way, congrats on the swim PR and as always a wicked fast bike split. I want your speed.

I beleive another CT gal I know on here is doing a IMLP training camp, I am not sure it is this weekend.  Are you going with a group? It'll be here first IM, and she just compelted Mooseman 70.3 yesterday as her first HIM, so maybe her training camp is not this weekend.

uhcoog - 2012-06-04 8:54 AM Started learning fly today.  Ugh.

May I ask why? Just curious

Kelly thinks it will help me in the water with being comfortable.  It also seems to have me more aware of my body position in just one session.  Coincidence?  I don't know, but my buddies seem to think I was flying when I pulled off the fins and switched to free to work out some of the frustration I built up running awkwardly through fly drills.

Encouraging sign.  There is a 2013 registration link on the IMTX page.  Sends you to a page saying it will be a few weeks, but it's there.

I heard it is also but considering all the meetings are video taped and on the internet and they changed the cost from free to $595 I opted to do my own think!!

I went up to Lake Placid with a friend last year.  There's no need to pay a ton of money for a camp.  There are always lots of people in LP so there will be plenty of people to SBR with.

I'm a strong believer that you should be able to swim all 4 strokes and that odd strokes can help with your freestyle.

Fly is great for body position (if you drag your legs you're never going to be able to swim fly), building core stregnth and making you feel like a bad in the pool.

EN puts it best -- there's no such thing as good bike followed by a bad run.

And trust me you can feel the positioning thing immediately.

I love Butterfly.  It was my favorite stroke when I was younger (not my best...that was back...but definitely my favorite!).

Never NEVER NEVER take 4 kids to the zoo by yourself, people, particularly when the oldest is only 7 and the youngest is 2.  Fred wouldn't ride in the stroller, so he walked at a snail's pace, and then the older ones were b'ing and moaning because they wanted to see more animals.  Then Fred wanted to crawl around on all fours like a tiger while Gordie (3 year old) ran off.

Deep breath.

That was a true exercise in patience.  Too bad I have so little

I'm reticent to learn fly because it looks like a shoulder and/or back injury waiting to happen.

Done correctly, you shouldn't have any issues.  There's not a lot of difference between the free style and butterfly pull (other than the fact you use both arms at once).  The biggest differene is in core stregnth and leg position.

I suspect we're very different, but we both love to punish ourselves with hours and hours of training so we can participate in this sport called triathlon.  It's a big part of both of our lives. Plus, we've been in this mentoring group for almost 2 years.  You bond

You are SOOOOOO mean.  I like most veggie type burgers actually.  We had bison burgers and brussel sprouts the other day.

Add those two together (bison/black beans) then top with mango salsa...Mmm now we're talking...

Had a solid bike-run this morning.  Kind of feeling like I'm getting my groove back (helped that my goal on the run was to run down Shaun and Erica who had a 10 minute lead).

I'm really working on trying to "stay in my own envelope" and not feel like I need to control EVERYTHING.  Its tough work but its getting better.

also, I made my own Tzatziki last night.  I am so impressed with myself.  It came out really good although it is super garlic-y.

Mmmmmmmm best use of greek yogurt ever.  We just got 8 or so cucumbers out of our garden.  I see a giant batch getting made this weekend.

Really good workouts lately.  I feel real confident going into this weekend's race.  I came in the top 50 last year here with a horrible swim, reoccurring theme, so I'm looking for better.
