Woohoo! Good job team!
How's this for dedication?? So, I left work early yesterday to get in my final 20 miles. Now, this would have been super easy since I have a local lake that's approx. 5 miles each lap. But like most lakes and woodland areas around dusk, with lots of vegetation, water, and widlife, there are also LOTS of.... any guesses?? BUGS!!! LOTS AND LOTS OF BUGS!! Now, I'm use to running at about 6mph and still getting super annoyed with bugs flying into my face and possibly swallowing them. Think about what it was like for me on the bike going 20 mph.

Needless to say, I became a human windshield. I could hear multiple *splats* against my jacket all the way around. I was seriously trying to stay tucked in aero to avoid as many as the critters as possible
(what actually still happened was some got caught in the grooves of my helmet
). I was able to do one lap successfully, was about to throw in the towel, but then told myself to HTFU, and so I went AGAIN, and suffered EVEN MORE. Thank heavens I didn't crash since I had my head down for probably at least half the lap. Honestly, I would rather bike in rain and snow than through BUGS. Just imagine a slight downpour, but replace the water drops with bugs, and that's what it was like at times. When I finally stopped, I had to shake out a ton of em out of my jacket and helmet.
Anyway, at this time I had only completed about 10 miles. I was so pissed off and annoyed at the situation that I was content to just stretch my mileage a bit
(doing 20 miles at any other time during the day would have been super easy
), but on the way home, I just couldn't let it go. I guess you know you're a triathlete when you're THIS true to your training. So I got home, hopped on the trainer, and finished my 10 miles.
