Subject: RE: Team Liquigas Official ThreadPerhaps we chatted ourselves out of contention? Ah well, it was still fun! Did a 19-miler in the HEAT yesterday - 99 degrees with a heat index of 105. It really didn't feel oppressively hot like I expected it to, but after 18 miles I was ready to be done. Drinking hundred-degree water just isn't my thing
Then I did another 6 this morning with my wife and 12 y/o. The kid asked me if I wanted to race home once we were about a mile away, so I said sure. After about 50 meters he's like "Ah dang you beat me!" but I kept pumping and pumping. When he rolled in he was hunched over his bike for several minutes, then he came in and threw up! When he gives 100% he truly gives 100% even to the point of getting light headed or feeling nauseous. We have him scheduled to get an echocardiogram to see if, since he was born prematurely, his heart developed properly to allow adequate blood flow to the upper part of his body during periods of intense exercise. Kids these days! |
