I did 12 miles tonight, 2 with Gretchen then 10 with my cousin.  I've got three more stages and 56 miles to go.

Looks like only 4 on our team (Bripod, dalessit, kathy caribe and myself) are going to go the distance.  I'm going to go ahead and slink right in at 100% on stages and 100% on miles - I'm going to try and do 20 miles, 20 miles, then go 8 out and 8 back on Sunday.  I'll adjust Sundays out and back to hit the perfect magic number.

Perhaps we chatted ourselves out of contention? Ah well, it was still fun! Did a 19-miler in the HEAT yesterday - 99 degrees with a heat index of 105. It really didn't feel oppressively hot like I expected it to, but after 18 miles I was ready to be done. Drinking hundred-degree water just isn't my thing

Then I did another 6 this morning with my wife and 12 y/o. The kid asked me if I wanted to race home once we were about a mile away, so I said sure. After about 50 meters he's like "Ah dang you beat me!" but I kept pumping and pumping. When he rolled in he was hunched over his bike for several minutes, then he came in and threw up! When he gives 100% he truly gives 100% even to the point of getting light headed or feeling nauseous. We have him scheduled to get an echocardiogram to see if, since he was born prematurely, his heart developed properly to allow adequate blood flow to the upper part of his body during periods of intense exercise. Kids these days!

Team standings as best as I can tell:

1. Garmin 90.01% complete
2. Liquigas 73.37%
3. Quickstep 71.65%
4. Leopard Trek 66.79%
5. Sky 49.69%
6. BMC - can't tell from their spreadsheet

For all teams, I did not include data from riders who completed less than 10% of their stated goal.

Sweet, thanks for the head's up! I just updated my info on the spreadsheet so now I'm at 90.19% and will hit 110% on Sunday. Did 6 miles today but I'm not going to count it as a stage or toward my mileage - kinda like how on the rest days the tour riders still ride something like 3 hours on the trainer

So it looks like a positive correlation between thread size and completion percentage!

Wow!  You give me hope!  I started this season with similar - 7 min km - and am hoping for 6.

I was at 7 m/k forever and suddenly it just went 7 - 6.8 - 6.6 - 6.4 - then I hit that magic 30 minute 5K last November.  Granted, I injured my ankle that night and couldn't run for about 8 weeks and I was right back to the 6.5 m/k pace.

But in March I did another 30 minute 5K and I've been going down since then—managed a PR of 27:01 at the end of June.  My super-secret goal is to run a sub 25 minute 5K at the Susan G. Komen race next February.

WOW!  You GO!  I had a very demoralizing run yesterday but your experience helps.

So it looks like I shouldn't have adjusted my goal a few days ago?  I'll put it back to the original goal, I think.

My best guess at team standings...Liquigas is challenging Garmin for the win!

1. Garmin 93.75% (1 rider at 100%)
2. Liquigas 91.52%??? (no riders at 100%)
2. Quickstep 73.78% (2 riders at 100%)
3. Leopard trek 66.79% (2 riders at 100%)
4. Sky 55.84 or 58.10% (looks like they lost half their team)
5. BMC 60.63%???? (1 rider at 100%)

Well we technically have one rider at 100%... 99.67% is close enough right? Keep up the good work, team!

Far Left Texas - 2011-07-20 8:44 AM A big part of their pulling ahead in post count is that someone over there is post padding.
People here engage in post padding? *Gasp.* I sure wouldn't do anything like that.

Never heard of post padding before... Miss you this year Dee, we owned the post count last year : )

I'm racing an Oly on Sunday (NJ State Tri). It was 104 here today, but the temps are supposed to drop by Sunday. Into the upper 80's.

It will probably be my first ever non-wetsuit-legal swim, so that should be interesting.

Oh c'mon, you know, post padding--in case you're not watching where you going and you bonk right into a post. Here's a pic:

Anyway, you all know what I'm doing on Sunday. Gotta get everything packed up tomorrow to go camping tomorrow night in order to hit the road early on Sunday.

Oh and I had another milestone recently - finally had my first chain replacement! I got about 3,000 miles out of the original chain that came on the bike. And I got a new rear wheel because my old one was basically shot and would pop out of true if you just looked at it.

Another thing - it's interesting to note that in our little BT challenge Garmin vs. Liquigas is a close race, and in the TdF it's a Liquigas rider in 8th followed by a Garmin rider in 9th in the general classification! So that's kind of funny
