We have an 8 mile race today and part of it runs along the water.  I doubt we'll see any dolphins or whales though.  Maybe some floating ice .  That is, of course, if it is not snowing too hard and we can see the water.

The good news is that Dexter is also doing this, so 2 of us times 8 = another 16 miles for team Please Find Frozen Team mates!

Good luck wit the race. I am guessing that is 8 mile XC or possibly trail run. (Should go look) Sounds like a great distance to race.

D001 - 2008-02-09 8:13 AM  I vote we all go stay at Waterdog's place until summer arrives.

Well, the sun is shining and it is supposed to be in the low 70s today. Definitely a Chamber of Commerce day here in Carlsbad. Only bummer is that the water is still a bit chilly. (Gotta pull on the neoprene to keep away the hypothermia)

Still debating on whether to do my planned 10 mile run today or move up my 17 mile LR and do the 10 miler tomorrow. Sunday is a busy day and it might be a better fit. (I also want to get into the pool for the first time in 6 months)

My training group has been doing OWS sessions all Winter

Actually it was a road race. The running group in Rochester puts on 6 of these that they call the "Freezeroo Series" They have a couple of 5K's, 10K's, a 7 miler and an 8 miler. Distance aren't exact, but they do a good job of getting people outside during the winter. The one 10K was a hill fest to say the least. Still have one more 10K in 2 weeks. We have been fairly lucky with the weather, including today. Overcast and about 30 degrees, not too bad considering I did a 5K in December that was snowing and 13 when we started! But this ones in the books to put me at 26.33/80!!!

Train well!!!

Actually it was a road race.

Great job out there today Ken

Looks like a very fun distance to race. A bit faster than a 15k and long enough to really stretch out. (although YakTrax are probably common when it gets to be icy)

Hope your enjoying your rest.

Mixing up meds? Do we want to ask?

How come Sam isn't participating in the challenge this month? Do I need to check her log to see if you've gone running with her????

Hm, I just checked.... You haven't gone running with Sam this month!!!! She has ZERO miles logged! Poor Sam....

Um. I'm reading your RR. I now understand the part about mixing up the meds. Oh, my! LOL

Everyone - Dexter's race report is really worth reading!!!

Thanks, it is a good distance for me. I like the longer races!  ya know, I have not tried the yaktrax, I usually hibernate to the treadmill when its that bad.  But to do a race I would probably try.  I haven't had to yet though!

Hit the treadie at the gym tonight and did 10 miles @ Recovery Pace. Spent some time setting up for tomorrow's long run.

I have had the collywobbles most of the afternoon and it certainly did not get any better during the run. Also did about 30 minutes of good stretching and foam rolling.

Gotta go; my bag of ice is starting to melt and I wanna get into the bath and get to bed. (I am really beat) I guess I need to get some extra sleep.

Congratulations to Team Swimming Rocks! They are the current leaders in the Feb Challenge!

I've noticed that some of the lower ranking teams have members who haven't reported in. In other words - the majority of the team is DOING FINE! But there are one or two people who have ZEROS recorded, which really brings the team total down!

Remember, your training needs to be reported on your BT Training log and on the spreadsheet! Team captains - please help your team members log their training correctly.

February is now 28% completed. So there's still plenty of time for you to SWIM, BIKE and RUN!

Did my 17 mile long run today before heading over to a friend's house for a lawn party. It was very warm during the run but cooled off just enough to be perfect for the party.

My nutrition got a bit thin toward the end of the run and I really pigged out when I got there. Lucky no one was sitting next to me during the "Refueling Process"

Now at 98/250 - 32% Complete

That is 72 miles for the week and next week should be about the same or possibly a bit more if I hit a few optional workouts.

Team is at: 20.95%

Does seem like there are a few folks who have not updated the spreadsheete yet.

Bummer! I'd figured it was just kind of a "weak" feeling. (Hence it gave you the wobblies.)

So Cobblywobbles is even worse than I'd thought.

I HATE stomach "issues." I can deal with a stuffed nose. I can deal with a sore throat. But that stomach stuff is the worst.

(And, to make matters worse - it's going around my workplace. Ew!)

Glad you're feeling better today!

A 17 mile run? Sounds like the cobblywobblys are over!

Seventeen miles at once....

Um, that's like my monthly total. Oh wait - that's MORE than my monthly total. Which is why I SWAM during last month's challenge, and I'm BIKING during this month's!

Notice a trend here? If I organize the challenge, it's not "Running only." LOL

ALright gang, I am seeing some zeros out there... Are you updating the log? Are you not running? Don't make me send Dee and Beth after you!!!

Here's a suggestion for handling your "absentee" team members.

1) Leave some inspires for them. (This can be multiple people.)
2) One person should also PM them. (Just one person is sufficient for this. More than that, and it's like harassment.)

My reasoning - some people are new to BT and/or the challenges. I think we should try to get them involved, and help them if they aren't sure how to log training, etc.

If you don't hear from them by the next deadline for the spreadsheets (Feb 16th), check their training logs.
a) If they've recorded some mileage on the BT logs, just update the spreadsheet.
b) If they still have no training recorded on their BT logs, let me know. At this point, it's my opinion that you made a read effort to track them down and get them involved..... If they aren't replying and haven't logged any training by the 16th, we can just drop them from the roster.

Does this sound reasonable? I've suggested the above "procedure" in past challenges to teams with "missing" members. Sometimes, it was a matter of people not understanding the rules, or of not knowing how to use the BT logs, or they couldn't find the team thread, etc. So, in my opinion, it's worth trying to track them down.

Let me know what happens. (I try to keep track of all the teams during the week. But if I miss it, just post it on the Team Leader's thread.)

Thanks!

Dee
