Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread trainergirlmick - 2008-07-16 12:00 PM 6 stages, 126 miles. (the total was 240 miles, not 250 - I will be challenged enough to get those in :-). Thank god we are heading up to northern wisconsin this next week, so I can get some miles in outside, with a trail behind. Can I count that as extra miles :-) Again, thank you so much for your help! In order to count any biking times or distance you need to be on your bike a minimum of 15 minutes. So If you ride for 15 minutes or more that is another stage for you. I have updated your achievements. you are at just over 50% of your target. Edited by Redknight 2008-07-16 11:16 AM |

Extreme Veteran 460 | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread Thanks! I was feeling like a slacker. I have been getting the rides in, mostly inside, which is a bummer, but I will take them anyway I can get them, just can't for the life of me figure out how to get to the log. That trail behind adds about 50 extra pounds to the ride with my daughter...who, for some reason, most of the time, likes to just enjoy the scenery and not pedal. .

Extreme Veteran 460 | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread Again thanks so much! Friday, I have 2 rides, one outdoor, one indoor. The first will be about 24 miles, the other will be about 20. Can I count that as 2 stages and 2 separate rides? Sorry, I am new to all of this and new to BT as well, so I appreciate your patience! |

Extreme Veteran 460 | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread Also, was checking out your blog, if you don't mind and saw that you want to do a half IM in 2009! Good for you!!! That is my goal as well...although I haven't ever said it out loud or written it down...I guess it's too late now. I am new to the sport of triathlons...did my first 2 in the past six weeks and love them. Did the Oly for the first...everyone told me I was crazy, but I had a blast, then a sprint, and one more Oly in 4 weeks.

Extreme Veteran 460 | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread Glad that is 2 different stages. I will make my goal by the end of the challenge. I thought, I would just go for it, and did pretty well, if I must say so myself, and they had great swag! An awesome bike jersey and running hat. |

Master 2005 Silverton, Oregon | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread Hi everyone! My 1/2 mary went well, but my knee apparently got angry about it. The diagnosis is patella femoral syndrome and tendinitis, so I have to take it easy for awhile. I'm still hoping to be able to get my stages in once the inflammation goes down, but right now just walking is painful. I did set a new PR though with a time of 2:14:17 |

Expert 602 Ontario, Canada | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread Jul 16 - Stage 11 - CSC’s Kurt Asle Arvesen emerged atop a successful 12-man break to take the 11th stage of the Tour de France Wednesday, outsprinting a group of four riders that gapped the group near the end of the 167.5km race from Lannemesan to Foix. Cadel Evans (Silence-Lotto), continues to hold a one-second lead over CSC's Frank Schleck, and 38 seconds over Garmin-Chipotle’s Christian Vande Velde. The pack with Cadel Evans of Australia in his overall leader's yellow jersey, during the 11th stage of the Tour de France between Lannemezan and Foix, southern France, The riders make their way down hill. The tour, unfortunately, is rocked by another doping scandal. French anti-doping authorities and Saunier Duval team officials confirmed that Italian climbing sensation Ricardo Ricco (Saunier Duval), winner of two mountain stages and ninth in the overall standings, has tested positive for the blood booster erythropoietin (EPO) and a new substance, CERA (Continuous Erythropoiesis Receptor Activator). Within minutes of Ricco’s departure, his entire team voluntarily withdrew from the Tour. Ricco becomes the third rider to fail a doping test in this year's race after Spanish riders Moises Duenas (Barloworld) and Manuel Beltran (Liquigas) both tested positive for EPO. I can't believe they're still doping and think they can get away with it! Edited by patricia7 2008-07-17 9:12 AM |

Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread Holy #%$@. A third rider tossed and the whole team gone. Ricco is one of the top riders so had to know he would be tested. That's as bad as Ben Johnson at the 80 Olympics. The authorities are really taking this anti doping seriosuly. I hope it doesn't overshadow the rest of the tour and that the other athletes understand the seriousness of this. Not only for themselves but their teams also. It can be a huge blow to a sponsor. Master 1952 Guelph, Ontario | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread for anyone wondering what the EPO is and does What is EPO? Erythropoietin (EPO) is a peptide hormone that is produced naturally by the human body. EPO is released from the kidneys and acts on the bone marrow to stimulate red blood cell production. An increase in red blood cells improves the amount of oxygen that the blood can carry to the body’s muscles. It may also increase the body’s capacity to buffer lactic acid. |

Expert 1202 Montana | Subject: RE: Columbia Team Thread As of today I am at 5 stages (of 6) and 183 miles (of 210). When is the last day of le tour, please? Also, I can access the spreadsheet now, but can't make any chages. Therefore, I will have a difficult time being captain this weekend if I don't get this figured out. Would someone mind checking up on everyone's totals until all things are working again? Thanks! CC |

I will reach my time goal tonight but will have one stage to do to reach my 6 stages. That will be on Sunday I think. I am thinking about doing super a sprint distance on Sunday probably all of it indoors. Edited by Redknight 2008-07-17 1:08 PM |
