Thought I would come in and check on Ms. Enders.  She sometimes gets carried away with herself after a few diet sodas.  Kris,  If you can ever use any intelligent help let me know (I am sure I can find someone).

Thanks, Saling.

Morning, folks!

What do you have going on this week?

I'm back to work (after 2 weeks off)...and I have a quick business trip Thursday-Saturday.

Back at work as well. Trying to decide if I want to try to use the gym at work today during lunch. I am sure it is going to be packed beyond belief with people starting their new year's resolutions.

I might wait until after work...

I lost 2 pounds last week, so I am on my way.

Congrats on the weightloss! That's great over the holidays!

Our gym was packed yesterday and today too...I'm hoping the pool isn't too nuts tonight.

Preschool was cancelled due to weather...I am not sure my 3 year old remembers that he goes to preschool--he missed the entire week before the long Christmas break....so today he and I will hit the gym, and I will go to the cycling class.  If that falls through, then I'll swim at some point.  I am not too excited about the impending crowds, but will manage.    I was so happy to get back to my routine, and then it had to go and snow last night. Argh!

Good morning, everybody!

Back to work here, too. I'm working from home today and DH set me up a work area in the basement (he got tired of me being in the way at the kitchen table). My kitty and I are really enjoying it.

Somehow, I managed to maintain my weight over the last two weeks. Doing the happy dance here!

I start swim lessons at the Y tonight. I'm expecting that it's not going to be too intense - mostly the instructor figuring out where everybody is at - so I'm going to do a cycling class first.

I'm so excited - I ordered myself and mp3 player as a belated Christmas gift - an iRiver clix. It doesn't ship til the end of the week and I'm already impatient. Should have paid to have the faster shipping. Ah, well... I can't wait!!

Have a good one, all!

margo

I am back at work as well. This week is refresher training and competency testing... tres boring! I have been spoiled to private practice the last five years, and have forgotten all the bs that goes on with a JCHO certified facility. The gym at school opens back up today, so planning on a run after work. Unlike our northern friends, I find it hard to get motivated to run in the cold and would much prefer the dreadmill!

Well we are all here to motivate each other, right?  I was up at 6am to run with the dog but my boss called to ask if I could come in and take their daughter to work as the roads were kinda iffy.  I am bummed a bit as I know come 4pm I won't have any energy to do either.

Fencing tourney? Cool! How far of a drive is it?  I have no idea when it comes to east coast geography!

Kristen, I hope your daughter had a great birthday. My son had a fun one, it turned out really great for everyone.  We even managed to finish taking down all the Christmas stuff after we got home while he played with new toys.  Gotta brag here on the cake I made....note, I am NOT a baker type so this is a big deal for me.  Generally I just buy cakes decorated from the grocery store.

Ann- that cake is fabulous!  I'm very impressed!

The tournament is about 7 hours away- we'll stay in Boston (6 hours away) with my brother Friday night, then drive 1.5 hours up to NH for the tourney Sat and Sun, then the long slog home Sunday night!

I was totally jazzed to get back to my routine too! Glad it isn't just me.

Bummer that pre-school was cancelled...my youngest is chomping at the bit to get back to hers (she does daycare MWF, preschool TR mornings).

Nope.  I fell asleep on the couch   I am just so tired lately!  I am going to wait out this "thing" I have and start after I feel 100%.

My husband bought me a yoga kit tonight. Belated birthday present! It's awesome! Giant ball, yoga block, strap mat and a DVD

Lynne- bummer about the workouts, but it sounds like you need a little time to rest.  Yoga might be a good compromise!

Lynee,

I hope you feel better soon.

I am a big fan of Yoga, and do not do it as often as I would like too. I have an AM Yoga DVD that I like, which is basically 10 minutes of easy stretching. Nothing too difficult, but I really feel looser after doing it.

In the past I have done a Power Yoga DVD, but I need to work my way back into that.

Lynne, I agree, do yoga if nothing else....I am not a yoga person--I know it would make me flexible in the long run, but every class I go to I feel like an idiot because I am not flexible at all.  My sister is the same, must be hereditary!

I did the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred video yesterday (day 1) and I can really feel it today in all those spots like inner thighs and triceps....supposedly 30 days of it and I will be much more toned.  I will keep you posted!  I am not stopping any of my s/b/r, but adding this to it in lieu of most strength training at the gym.

My wife has that DVD, and I have done it a bunch of times. It is a butt kicker!! Those side lunges with the shoulder lifts at the end kill me. And level 2 with all the plank position stuff is just painful.

OK, so now I feel like a crummy mentor. I can't do yoga to save my life. Not only am I horribly inflexible, I have NO patience for it. I can't sit and breathe. I can't hold poses. I gotta move.

Good for all of you who do yoga!

We are getting WAY too close to the bottom of page 1.

Kristen- you should check out Mary Eggers' blog- she's a local (really good) triathlete and coach (who works in the ED with me ), who is ...flexibility-challenged... but is also a yoga instructor!  It's a pretty active yoga (power vinyasa) and very suited to athletes.  I haven't been in awhile (trying to be good about spending) but I'd like to get back into it.

I have to say that I thought of all of you when I really, really didn't want to work out tonight, and sucked it up and hopped on the treadmill.

Good Morning everyone!

It was a rough night last night with the little one. I think he is teething again, so he was up every 1-2 hours. I guess that is what caffeine is for.

I have a lunch meeting so I am going to have to workout after work, I mention it because I have been known to bail on the post work workouts in the past and now I have you all to hold me in check.

Down to 200 even and am meeting with the nutritionist tomorrow so I feel I am in good position to achieve my weight loss goal for the year.

Have a good day!!

Oh, those long nights were so hard!  Then you'll wake up tomorrow, and that little crying teether will be sleeping until 11 and trying to figure out how to say more than "hi" to a girl without breaking into cold sweat and stuttering.  Sigh.

But no matter how tired you are after work today, get off your butt and work out!!!!  You wouldn't want to jeopardize going under 200 by skipping, right? One trick I use is to make sure I have a light snack about 2 hours before I am planning to work out- otherwise I am so hungry for dinner that workout plans go out the window (or into the refrigerator!).

Congrats on the weightloss! I know it can suck working out when you are tired, but hang in there to get it done and you will feel better... and sleep better when you get the chance.
