Quiet weekend I think. It's a volume-reduction week for me, plus I was tummy-sick and am still recovering a bit, so easy biking and running.

ebshot - 2009-01-09 2:54 PM What's everyone doing this weekend?  We are expecting some snow tomorrow.  Boo!  Hopefully I can get my training in before it starts!  My BFF was supposed to come down for the weekend but isn't now because of the weather.  So, I am thinking that tomorrow is a movie day with some good wine.

I think tonight's going to be a quiet night in.  Looking forward to a snowy run tomorrow morning, and hopefully some trainer time on Sunday.

And, I'll heading up to lovely CT on Sunday for a baby shower.

I can't stand seeing us off the board, so ...

I put in a short run today for the team! No walking, all running. That's a biggie for me.

Hey All!  I didn't get my work out in today...very busy day but that just means today turned into my rest day instead of tomorrow.  Aaaand, as sad as I am about our friends leaving tonight to go back to CO, I am happy to get back to some semblance of normalcy around here and better able to focus on getting my workouts in!

I am happy to say that it is official ~ I signed up for my first tri!  I am so very excited and yet so very scared!!

I should head into the gym this morning.  I don't feel like it though.  I know I need to go.  Just don't want to.  *sigh*  After the kiddlets are done eating breakfast, we'll leave.  I also pick up a few things at the grocery for dinner tonight.  Nothing too exciting here.

Oh, Slugger, I had the Shiraz with the cheetah cork last night.  I liked it.  And the price was GREAT!  I love a good bargin wine!  I didn't finish my serving so I have it for tonight too!

Hey Erica, I hear ya on not really feeling the gym thing.  I have to make up for yesterdays work which was supposed to be a 3 mile run and lifting but I really want to go to my cycling class so I'm trying to see if it's really feasible to do all 3!  Hubby will not be thrilled about a 2+ hour gym excursion so we'll see.

Here ya go....sending a little sunshine your way, Erica!

I have a question for you guys...I've been experiencing stomach pain when running and sometimes when doing other workouts especially when it's a physically demanding work out.  The pain is in the upper portion of my lower ab and mainly on the left side.  It starts almost immediately and sometimes subsides but if I push myself too hard at first it will stay with me but will lessen enough for me to push thru.  I'm wondering if it's from lack of water ~ is that possible since I know I haven't been drinking what I should be or what I normally do?!

First, congrats on signing up for your first tri! That's awesome--enjoy the training!

As for the above--is it something like having a side stitch? I get those sometimes while running (and less often while swimming).

It's always wise to stay well-hydrated and drink plenty of water, never hurts (the pee test ... is it very light or clear as it should be?

However, try to stay well-hydrated throughout the day ... big gulps of water immediately before working out can actually fill the stomach (left side) and may contribute to the pain.

Is there anything you can do that helps get rid of it? Slow down, push on the area, straighten up and stretch tall, take a deep breath and push it down, bend over at the waist ... does any of these things help?

Sunday night.  I usually wait until the kids are in bed before I start the wine flow.  Not today.  As soon as it hit 5:00, I popped to cork.  That kind of day.  Glad it's almost over!!!!!

This was a volume-reduction week for me, so just some steady workouts to add to challenge totals, but next week will be building again, so look for some big numbers from me!

Hey gang! Thanks for thinking of me and all the awesome inspires. I was laid low last week with general head-cold sick, but it just wouldn't let up. Well, it would let up for half an hour at a time - just long enough to get my hopes up before dashing them again! Let's just say staring at the computer screen more than ABSOLUTELY necessary to get paid was not happening!

Yes, it's something like a side stitch.  However, for the first time, it stayed with me off and on today.  I decided not to run or lift today because of it but I did swim and it didn't bother me.  It was hurting me just walking around the neighborhood with Sam; it seems better after I stretch it but pushing it doesn't really seem to do anything.  Errrrrrg!  I am guzzling water today like we're running out and there won't be any left tomorrow!

Well CHALLENGERS, the first week is done. Did you challenge yourself? Did you encourage a teammate to do a little more? Did you set your goals just a little bit higher? Did you push yourself - within reason - through the stuff that life throws at us? Keep up the awesome work, everyone. Remember, teams are TEAMS, everyone is in it together, for better or worse!

No standings this week. If you are super curious about percentages, look at the spreadsheets yourself. Every team is working hard, and that's what matters. Some interesting notes, though - three of our four teams have at least one person who has already met 50% of at least one of their goals. Some of these are due to tapers, vacations, etc. toward the end of the month. But if you are already over 40% even, take another look at that goal. Can you do more? One more swim? Ten more miles?

Each of our teams also have at least two 0%s. Again, maybe you knew the pool wouldn't be open, or you needed to wait for a doc appt to see if running was on tap. No problem. But if you just haven't gotten to something yet, get it done. Putting it off will only consume your brain and waste your body. Tired? Sure, we all are. Out of time? Who isn't? But once you bust out that workout, you can check it off your to-do list, and free yourself up for that all important summer race schedule daydreaming!

Push yourself. Push your teammates. Embrace the CHALLENGE!

Well, after Slugger's pep talk up there, I upped my goal 5 miles.  I was going to up it 10 but this week is already off to a bad start and I had to scrap a 4.5 mile run.  So I went with 5 extra miles and we'll see how that goes!

I've got a 6 mile run for this afternoon and then checking out a tri swim class tonight.  Pretty excited about the swim class.  Not so excited about the run on icy roads.
