I'm at about 5.8 days now. The cilia in my lungs are starting to grow back and throw back the 16 years of tar I buried them under. Tonight's run, though painfully short, was painful by the end, and I don't even want to talk about this morning's swim. As you said, one day at a time.

Glad we are three. Does this qualify as a support group now?

And then they were three ... Nice thing is so many people have dropped by to be encouraging and share their own experience with quitting

I suspect that there are also lurkers who are still smoking and want to quit AND WE LOVE YOU, TOO! THIS THREAD IS ALSO FOR YOU!!!

Yeah I have a feeling that there are more than three of us.  I am in my 23rd day of rehab and I do think that my runs are easier.

Hung out with the old buddies last night, and I'll admit I was a little tempted when Andy went out to the back porch. Stayed strong. Day 7!

Great job Heathen.   It does appear to get easier I promise.  I haven't had to much trouble with people smoking around me:  Kids come over and go out on the back porch, for two week I had a smoker  riding in my truck with me (starting the day I quit,,,ugh!!).  The things I have read and the support here as gotten me through it with a smile (most of the time).

1stTime thanks for the support.  It is always a good thing knowing that others are standing behind you.

... just waiting for that chance to smack ya up side da head to shake the craving off.   No, I wouldn't do that.  Maybe push ya, but not smack ya.

My body realized this morning, "You're serious this time? They really aren't coming back? That sucks." My philosophy thus far has to not smoke, but indulge any other whim that I have (within reason; I passed on the slug of whiskey before work). My body wants a cigarette this morning, but I will resist.

Those of you that are a little further along. Did you begin getting a semi-productive cough during the second week? I'm trying to decide if this is my lungs kicking out tar or last week's head cold migrating south for the spring. 7.34 days and counting.

I never had too much of a cough except when I was running.  I assumed the same thing...That I was trying to get rid of all that good stuff.

Great job heathen on not taking a slug of whiskey before work.  I am the sme way still about eating when and what I want for now,  but it is getting old on the scale and is about time to reign this monster in.

I gave myself three weeks to indulge any craving other than cigarettes, but I'm also stepping up the training intensity. I figure as long as I keep healthy snacks around, I can absorb some extra McGriddles, chicken biscuits, nacho cheese, and 3pm bacon. I'm hoping that the increased training volume and the results of my physical this week will reduce cravings for heavy fuel.

What? Day 11 already? Stepped into temptation last night and emerged unscathed. How are the rest of you doing?

That's the way to hit temptation!  Meet it head-on!  Great job!

I'm on day 18.  I don't really think about it much really.  I just try to avoid situations where I might be tempted to smoke.  It's seems to work for me.

I'm doing well but am having a really hard time. It's something I have to fight every day. Unfortunately my boyfriend and three closest friends all smoke so I'm constantly surrounded by it.

But I also know people (from quitnet.com) whose spouses, etc. smoked around them all the time (people aren't smoking around me ALL the time) and they still quit successfully, so I'm taking strength in the fact that I, not them, have decided to quit, and it's MY life and MY decision ...

My wife smokes, but thankfully I'm at work all day.  And I really just don't want to be around her too much the last couple months anyways, because of other problems.  So, I guess that kind of helps outs with the being tempted thing.

It is a really amazing thing for you to quit while your wife is still smoking. I feel you and congratulate you! Keep up the good work, you are really inspiring me.

You said it all right here.  It was your choice and you can do it.  It's not easy being around them, but I know you can do it.  Fight the good fight!

Day 28 here...4 WHOLE WEEKS>>>WOWSA!!  Glad to here the Heathen, Chief and Triaya are doing well too.  I am going to start working on my weight gain next month,  but for now I am just happy to be NOT SMOKING.

As Tri said "I made the choice" not everyone I know,  so I just deal with it and press on with pride.

It is amazing and in actuality I think of it less often.  Once in a while it hits me that I am NOT smoking when normally I would be.
