Expert 1360 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I'm starting with a coach in January, I will probably discuss my race schedule with him, but this is my tentative plan Chilly Half Marathon (March 7) Woodstock Triathlon (June 6 - this race starts about 5 km from my home!!! - 750m/30km/7.5km) either Peterborough HIM or Bracebridge HIM (Jul 4/Aug 8) maybe the Canadian Full Aquabike (Sept 4) Considering a marathon in there in May - Mississauga, but not 100%. We also have a 10 K in town in May that I'll probably do. It's the only race we have in my city - other than this triathlon which will be in it's inaugeral year this year. Chilly and Woodstocks are definite races the rest is up in the air a bit. Nats - have you done ottawa before? I've done it twice (the half), its a great race, but I don't like how late they moved it. It's too hot now out by the arboretum (sp?) for me. |

Veteran 345 Chesapeake, VA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread jashac - 2009-12-02 12:24 AM Way to go Mike. One mile. You and me. I got mine in today too. You doing ok? anything hurt? We've got 300 some odd days till we need to do 26.2. Maybe we can pace each other? Tendon feels ok, but my heels are sore already. Figured since I'm essentially starting from scratch I'd give the au natural theory a try and ran in Vibram Five Finger shoes. The theory of "barefoot" running seems fairly sound to me and at this point I'm willing to give anything a try that even hints at the idea of being a stronger and more injury free runner. But like I said, the heels are sore from the impact. Well see what a bit of rest does for them. Going to wait at least 48 hours before running a mile again. |

Thanks for the reminder, I haven't thought of the Canadian 226 swim-cycle in 2010 and may very well end up going with a couple of friends. Hmmm... I am also considering the Woodstock Triathlon instead of Binbrook. |

I'm thinking of doing Chesapeake IM distance aquabike in September as it is flat, windy with ocean swim similar to IMFL. |

Doing some good trainer rides..look at Jorges winter trainer program to make time on the trainer as beneficial as possible. My husband may do the sprint at Lonestar borrowing my bike...so I hope to see you there Saturday! |

I'm not a huge fan of the trainer for longer rides, but I did Jorge's plan last winter and it really improved my cycling come Spring time. F1longhorn, come spring, we'll have to check schedules and see if we can do any of our long rides together. |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I can do 3 hours on the trainer once winter sets in just need to build up to it. There is a 24 hour bike race I always want to do in Feb in FL but once it gets cold and the reality of of doing 12-15 hours in one day on the trainer makes me change my plans every December. Give me power numbers to hit and/or cadence work and mix it up and I like it better. I have my computrainer in the corner with no bike on it. Need to swap out a computer interface part that will take probably 5 minutes or less but not excited to do it then put my trainer tire on and get riding. Strange right now I want to swim more than bike...seems like h3ll must have frozen over for me to say that. |

I've been in there trying saddle after saddle. We ordered a demo Selle SMP to try. I've been on the Adamo and Cobb's in the shop...but once you get home and ride vs just spinning and fitting they weren't as comfortable. I'm looking forward to trying the Selle due to the full cutouts! We'll see... I hope everyone has a great weekend! I'm getting over this cold and hopefully will be back out doing something soon. |
