ATTENTION ALL DU-DECEMBER CHALLENGE PARTICIPANTS:

Make sure that you have your training data updated in your team spreadsheet by 10:00 PM US Central time (11 East, 9 Mtn, 8 Pacific - other parts of the world - you have to do the math...) on Sunday nights.  That would be Dec 6, 13, 20, and 27.  Each Sunday night I will publish a quick run down of the team standings!

If your team has injuries or illness, we can pro-rate the goals for days missed - however, please let me know before changing the goals.

Keep up the training!  Good luck to everyone!

gonna go and hook up w Santa and see if can cross of some items on my Christmas List.

i have some personal shopping to do as well.

tis the season for holiday parties and i dont think wearing my bike shorts, underarmour or compressions socks, though uber cool, will 'fly'

HAPPY TRAINING!
stacieb

Why not?  You must not hang out around the right kind of people

It's also one way to be the "talk of the party"!

thats definately one way RHODA.  LOL.

speaking of being the talk of the party (this is one of those you know youre a triathlete when....)

last year at my husbands annual christmas party, i was wearing this sleeveless dress (red to boot)

and a male co-worker went up to my husband, and complimented my 'super buff upper arms'

later in the eve, my husband told me what the guy said to him, and i asked what did you say back...

and he was like uhm thank you.

yay.

you better say thank you.  and you should have told him to come over and compliment ME, IN PERSON TOO!

i worked HARD for those super buff upper arms....25 yd laps Xs like a gazillion.

LOL

you know youre a triathlete when.....

stacieb

your trainer and tv stand and abs bench and you get banished to the garage for the holidays so that there is aplace put a Christmas tree in the house....

just took note.

your one of those LUCKY DUCKS who lives in a warm weather state.

stacieb

It was like 32 degrees in the garage yesterday morning...  I should have still used the fan though, I was sweating like a...  {insert own descriptor here}

Tell me how luck I am come May and is almost 100 degrees here...

32 degrees?  really?  i wouldve never figured that.

this time of year, is it cold in the morning and then warms throughout the day??

humor me.  ive never lived anywhere other than Western PA/in the suburbs of PGH.

as for the insert descriptor here.....

i was sweating like a......like a.......like a......

Well, crap.  I spent my entire birthday morning at the doctor's office with my perpetually sick child.  Turns out what I thought was a little asthma flare is strep throat, a sinus infection and an asthma flare.  Oops.  I am glad I took him in today and didn't wait any longer (even though my lunch with friends got canceled.)  So, after the doctor, we headed to have lunch at the bowling ally and then bowled a game.  I won.  And I didn't even use the bumpers!   It was a fun day even with the change of plans.

crimefighter2 - 2009-12-04 8:56 AM got a 2 mile run in last night before 3/3 basketball.  The went to BW3....stayed up to late.  I am sure tired.  Tomorrow I am scheduled for a Jingle Bell run - forecast is 28 with a windchill of 21 or 19 or something.  What am I thinking?  Have 2 trials set on Monday - and just such a busy weekend with sleepovers and parties.  Oy vey.  May have to work through lunch to keep up and turn today into a rest day unfortunately.

OH SNAP, that's cold, DUANE.

id say do what you need to do to get in what's most important.

good luck w all thats on your plate right now.

stacieb

Yes - the first real cold snap of the year.  It will be a new one for me - as I only real got back into running last fall - and I didn't run outside until it got warm.  Oddly enough I am looking forward to the experience.  I also figured out I miscalendered one of my trials - it doesn't start until Wed. (thank goodness had the right day on the subpoenas) so - I did go to the Y and had a "workout" of sorts.  Went back to that same bike and got 10 more miles in - but no resistance.  Studied the darn thing and could not change that at all.  Asked my neighbor on a stairmaster who pondered that it might be broke, but "the guy" was coming in next week to look at some of the other equipment.  I learned it is not a spin bike as she suggested that one.  I don't like it as it does not have a distance calculator on it.  I also did a mile run after the bike - so I am doing much better in Dec. than I did in Nov.

cold weather running isnt as bad as people make it out to be.  the key (i think) a good base layer and keep your CORE warm

ooooh and my GAITER.  i love me my NECK GAITER  wont leave home w/out it.

cold weather is my preference too.  actually cold and wet is my fave

.....give me cold over hot to run anyday.

enjoy the experience.

&im glad today worked out better than you thought and your schedule isnt gonna be as challenging as you orginally anticipated.

and the bike thing...so odd.  the spin bikes at our Y dont record mileage either, though i always estimate 1 hr =15 miles.  the stationary bikes in the Fitness Center do record mileage, but i have to pretty darn desperate to hop on one of those suckers.

keep on keepin' on!

So my weekend dilemma...... I have a 10 miler and a 4.5 miler on the schedule along with a 30 min swim.  I had planned 10 today with a swim and run tomorrow.  But it is raining and about 38-40 outside.  I don't like running in the cold rain. I'm thinking of switching days but my Y has a swim meet today so no lap swim.  I am just not sure if I have a 10 miler and a swim in me for tomorrow.....6 degrees colder and I could run in the snow.....I love doing that..... Did a nice 20 minute run to test my legs, as per my PT, on a harder surface than my treadmill after my bootcamp class this morning.  Felt like I had new legs, so nice to be running outside without pain.

Heading out for some lunch soon, maybe go look at a new Tri bike for hubby after. will get in another run and put in some time on the trainer later while he watches UFC.
