Does anyone use a bike trainer. Todays high is 22 and I can not get motivated  to ride. My first tri is Jan 31st. The run and bike will be cold so training outside may be better but I know i will train longer and more often inside.

I use a set of rollers.  Give me a little more feel for the bike.  Yes dragging yourself to the basement to pump your legs for 2 hours is hard.  Get your water, movie and head band and do it man.  Will pay off greatly lately.

I would always personnally take the outside option. If you have a mountain bike use that and go off roading. It will make it more interesting and less of a chore. Yeah it will be cold but at least you would have enjoyed it.

If not, cycling leggings on, gloves and layers and off you go. Sure the face will feel frost bitten but it will go numb within 5 minutes so you wont notice its fallen off. Just be aware of black ice lurking in shady area's

I'm crossfitting as usual. Damn....I just checked my workout for tonight....

Today's WOD:

3 rounds for time of:
Run 400 meters
21 Kettlebell swings
12 Dumbbell Push Press

Lovely....it's supposed to be cold tonight, which hey, for a southern gal like me (and one born on a Pacific island), 30 degrees is cold....okay, stop calling me a wuss.....

Hey, when are we supposed to weigh this week? Or do we since we weighed on Sunday? I'm confused since I prefer not to weigh on the weekends.

I have a weight workout scheduled for this morning.  My wife works tonight so I hope to get on the trainer this evening for a real training ride.  Depends on how the leg workout this morning goes.

30 minutes on the bike trainer if I can fit it in.  My daughter is taking up a lot of my time.  Who knew how hard it was to wash super long thick hair in a sink.  We see the ortho trauma surgeon tomorrow.  Hopefully we can figure some way to shower her before.  Ewwww.  (actually she is sponge bathing but its not the same, ewwww).

I do plan on going to yoga tonight also.  That is more of a priority than the bike.  i need to destress.

Tonight is running and strength training.

Have a great day all!

It's freezing and icy, so naturally it's time to head outside for a run. Got my short/slow run tonight with my buddy from the basic 5K class.

How big a difference is it riding stationery bike at gym vs. your own bike on rollers? don't own rollers and do ride the sb for most of the winter...just wondering...??

I'm with you. I don't usually have time to log until the evening, late evening...mostly because I crossfit in the evening and have nothing to log. That's because I'm not a morning person and I don't normally workout in the morning...especially not during the winter!!!!

Looks like everyone did well today!

We are calling for the coldest temps tomorrow and even snow...but who knows? They've closed schools already ahead of this. We're just not used to this in the South. I drive to see patients and so it will depend on how the weather is tomorrow.

My neighbor's outside faucet pipe burst tonight...we walked out to lights flashing and gushing water down our driveway from her broken pipe. Luckily, she owns her own construction company and knew what to do.

Last year I tried to get up one minute earlier every day, that worked for a while, then back to the same old habits, staying up late, eating popcorn and OJ, and thinking "hmmm I should be trying to go to bed earlier" and here I am at 11:10 blogging ..ahhhh

Go to bed when you are tired.   I say that now at 9:30 I'll be like we got time for another game.

OFFICE FOOD>   Try this ask before you eat it "Does this fit into my food intake plan for the day?"  Little different then other tricks but every thing that can be brought to the table is a good thing.  Headed out for a run as soon as I can get Y moving.

Damn pool closed again tonight due to snow. As the gym is in the same place as the pool that rules that out as well. Guess that leaves a tricky run in the snow tonight. The things we do to keep to a plan. Cant possibly have 2 nights off. Guilt factor would be far to much

I just have to brag a little right now....

I posted this on my logs, but basically I set a new PR at Crossfit tonight!

We had a hero WOD tonight, "Diane" (hero WOD is a benchmark workout, one we can measure against time after time for improvement) and it was supposed to be a rest day today for me, but since this workout as my very first real CF workout 8 weeks ago when I started, I wanted to see how much I had improved.

I increased my deadlift weight from 62 lbs to 83 lbs and dropped my finish time a by 12 seconds. What I'm excited about is the increase in weight and well, I know I finished faster, but I also know that I have to work on my form on my handstand pushups off the 20" box.

Now if I can only brag about a new PR for swim/bike/run.......

Thanks for listening.
