Ugh, my husband turned the alarm off on me this morning and didn't wake me up so the pool never happened. I will attempt the pool wake up call again tomorrow! Still have a run and situps/pushups planned for tonight.

Hmm...for some reason I don't think you were too sad.  Nice bed, snug and warm for a little extra snooze or fighting the resolutioners for some pool time??

yogachic - 2010-01-04 11:12 PM Hi all!  I'm new to the challenge section, so I just found out about the monthly challenges and got assigned to this team!  I just added my goals to the team spreadsheet... Is there anything else I need to know about how this all works?

Welcome!  It looks like our upcoming marathons are a day apart.  Is this your first marathon?

Yep!  I have an ambitious year ahead of me, with my first marathon in April and my first HIM in July.  I'm excited for both!

Morning/Afternoon everyone. Started to plug away at 2 of my goals and will get started on my bike goal either tonight or tomorrow.

I saw someone else looking for spring and I'm right there with you . Hate this cold weather!

Winery  ?   Did someone mention winery

Jack: Man! That's tasty!
Miles Raymond: That's 100% pinot noir. Single vineyard. They don't even make it any more.
Jack: Pinot noir?
Miles Raymond: Mmm-hmm.
Jack: Then how come it's white?
Miles Raymond: [laughs] Oh, Jesus. Don't ask questions like that up in wine country. They'll think you're some kind of dumbs**t, OK?

Is this scene from Sideways?

Yes   I am working this month in the wine country area where they filmed it :

Delightful Santa Barbara county.

Hey Teammates! Greetings new comers!

It was 17F last night here in MS. WTF! Decided to do my run a wee bit later than usual. Got back about an hour ago. Phew... it was 29F when I went out and pretty much stayed cold the whole time, but it was sunny and I was super happy for that.

Did 16 miles, my longest run yet. The last two miles 'bout killed me and the cold water bath later was truly painful. But I feel pretty good right now and am about to finish off some special chili my Mom sent home with me along with some fresh corn muffins! Yea! And then a nap. Double yea!

Those ice baths hurt so good, don't they? I can't think of anything better than a long run and some chili and corn muffins. I may have to change my dinner plans. And congrats on the milestone run.

Back at it today.

5k-ish warmup on exercise bike, followed by 10k-ish run.

Felt good, although a little rough starting off.

my usual gym was full with resolutioners.

I am ashamed to say it, but come on Feb. I want my gym back!

That's half the reason why, even though my plan started last week, I haven't begun swim training yet. Sure, I could say its because I can't afford the gym membership yet, and I can wait a few months before I get back in the pool. But really, I don't want to be a resolutionist. I don't want anyone hating me because I look like crap, swim really slow, and take up your usual locker. I'd much rather do all that in mid-February and have you think I'm just an annoying new person.

Don't get me wrong, I love activity at the gym. Anyone who starts & sticks with it...Fabulous. Problem is 75% will be gone in a month. See it every January!

I wish they would prove me wrong.

Atlantia, go prove someone wrong!!!

Are you kidding, no way am I going to the gym in January. The lap lanes are way too crowded.

And I hear you on the people who walk and read magazines. In full makeup. And talking on the cell phone whilst there, wtf? I always feel really out of place at the gym, until I get into the water, and then I'm so in my own head and trying not to drown that I don't notice I'm being passed by some octogenarian doing the breast stroke. If I win the lottery I am so installing an Endless Pool. I guess I should buy a house first. Yeah, that's my lotto list:
1. buy house
2. install endless pool
3. hire hot pool boy
4. enjoy

Ooo. Can I come visit you? I'll bring some wine, which the pool boy can serve to us while we lounge next to the endless pool.

Welcome and good luck with your exciting race schedule! That's really awesome.

Today was my first day at the new job, and I didn't get onto BT for over 24 hours. Yikes. Hopefully I find a few minutes here or there in the coming weeks to stay up to speed!

1) Assume that I am everywhere, and see everything.
2) Assume that I am carrying a taser. Or maybe a cattle prod.
3) Remember that I have no life outside of BT. Which means we can cycle back to #1.

A bike trainer is a little different, you can't fall off!  On a treadmill, if you are running at all, you can't read or you may be spit off the back!

All that being said, if you need to repent your sins , go ahead, Tim, we're here for 'ya!

Here's how I see it: If they're reading while on the treadmill or trainer, at least they're still doing something. In other words, they're not sitting on the couch in front of the TV.

Oh wait. I used the treadmill tonight, and had the TV on. Whoops. (Sure felt like I was working. LOL)

Besides, I'm a big fan of multi-tasking!

There was someone awhile back who'd be on the computer while on the trainer. He'd post messages on BT too. I'd be worried about falling off the bike, if I tried that.
