Gaarryy - 2010-07-01 10:05 AM thanks TJ..

come on people.. Flat is boring,,, we really want some rollers to have more fun

thanks for the *real* voice of reason Gaarryy!  Besides, you're gonna have to get out of the saddle to pee anyway, might as well kill two birds with one stone and do it on a hill.

John, if I try to pee whilst riding uphill, out of the saddle, it's gonna get ugly real quick.

How long is that climb?  Should be interesting, and fun in a sick kind of way.

It's about a quarter mile.  I checked the grade on Map My Ride for that section & it showed it topping out at about 10% - 11%.  No idea if that is accurate, but it is steep.  The good news is that it is fun going the other way.

For the Dallas peeps...think Windhaven hill.  It's .3 miles and about the same grade.  No big deal.

I'm so pumped about this race! I'm looking at the possible bike route(s) and already planning weekend rides. I love the fact that I can do all of my training on the course if I wanted. Burn the routes into my brain over the next 11 months and crush my first IM time!!

10 months?  Judging by how this crowd posted on the thread discussing the rumor of an IMTX, we might make that many pages in 10 weeks!

do we get credit for the three other ten page + threads on just the rumor of IM Woody.??   there are two others threads about this race in the Iron forums also..  and we don't even have one yet in the actual IM Distance Race groups yet??

I also wonder how many people outside of Texas, are signed up, I can see Louisiana, Oklahoma, maybe New Mexico and Arizona, will those people know to look in the Texas forum ??

Can this thread be moved to the ironman race groups?  I guess it does not matter, but we need more bacon

i was looking at those this morning.  shoving ice or ice packs in the three pockets along the spine seems like a pretty good idea.

Gonna be an AWESOME, iconic event, IMO.
Bike is most likely a 1 loop bike

Very nice course. It most certainly is NOT flat Rollers, no big sustained climbs.

I was wondering the same thing.  Going to do an aquabike in September and would love to get one by then as it will be the best opportunity to test it out before race day

It seems the key words in the WTC speedsuit ban are "non-rubberized" and "textile" .... so basically if a suit is neoprene or latex in anyway it is not permitted.  But if it is made of a textile - lycra, spandex, polyester, etc then it is good.

DeSoto seems to be ahead of the curve and are pushing a one piece trisuit by claiming the chamois pad will help with buoyancy?  Hopefully by the fall season the rest of the Tri clothing manufactures will get up to speed and come up with a strong product line to offset the new WTC rule.  I've been emailing with one of the PR guys for Pearl Izumi and he assures me that they have some new textile products coming out very soon.  So, the best advice is to probably hold on for a couple of months until they all get caught up!  Hope that helps!
