Then I proceeded to cough up a lung. owl_girl - 2010-08-16 5:41 PM I hope you were able to get your ride in! I got sick this weekend. I didn't do a damn thing. I'm hoping to get a short little bike ride in this evening after I teach Spinning class. Wish me luck. Awww. I hope you're feeling better today! |

Extreme Veteran 671 Not Quite DFL | Subject: RE: August "Don't Be A Slacker" Challenge No workout yet this week for me. Hopefully tomorrow before work. I've recovered well from the Ultra. blisters are all better - legs don't hurt - so I really have no excuse. Maybe a brick in the am if I can get up in time? |

Extreme Veteran 671 Not Quite DFL | Subject: RE: August "Don't Be A Slacker" Challenge Well, if that isn't a kick in the pants. I was checking/charging my Garmin 305 tonight to make sure it was good to go in the a.m. and I noticed it had a "workout" in it - 1. something seconds worth. I go to hit the lap button to reset it and nothing. Button rocks a bit, thats all. I push start/stop. Nothing. Push and hold the power button - same result. pace is changing like crazy everytime I move the watch. Nothing happens when I push any button. I guess it died in the heat/humidity on Sat? Sigh. Suggestions? What do you all use? I really liked it - except the HR was tiny and hard to read. I may have to go without now as my budget appears blown for things like this. |

I have to get it fixed as well... It got run over by a car in May. At first it still worked, but died about halfway through my HIM last month. Now it can't find me, ever. (It works otherwise, but the antenna must have gotten broken). Regarding the HR, I forgot how I did it, but I set the secondary display so that it shows heart rate so that it shows up the same size as pace, distance, etc (I forgot what the default setting were, but some of the displays were redundant). I was just going to bring my watch in for repair. I think it's a $79 flat fee. Has anyone done this? Maybe they'll decide mine is just dead and give me a new one... |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: August "Don't Be A Slacker" Challenge I just registered for the 2.5k non-wetsuit division of a 2.5/5k OWS race in September... Was thinking of registering for the 5k, but then decided I'd rather work on getting faster at the shorter distance instead of going longer and getting last place The field is mostly purist swimmers so the times are much faster than you would see at tris. So yeah, I got another non-wetsuit open water swim in yesterday. I want to start swimming about 3-4x/week on top of marathon training but we'll see how this all fits into my schedule.... |

I was hoping for the same thing (or a 310XT :D) I have an email from tech support saying they are going to walk me through a "hard reset". I think I just did that on my own - (hold mode and lap buttons - push power, hold, the release mode/lap.) However, didn't get the "do you really want to wipe out all your data" question. It did turn back on - but - getting no response from any buttons. Found an online manual which seems to have the key for changing display (http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/984_OwnersManual.pdf) but I can't test it out right now.... |

Maybe they'll decide mine is just dead and give me a new one... Just got off the phone - they want 79 dollars and they'll send me a different one. I balked at that price and he said he could do $59 - I still balked. I am going to let the battery die and then try to do a hard reset. But - I have to mail mine in - I think - no Garmin store by me - |

Hopefully the hard reset will work for you. I think I'm just going to have to bring mine in because the screen is also a little messed up |

You just HAAAAAD to post the random challenge update before I got the chance to put in today's workouts in, didn'tcha?? Oh well, I'm still not close to 61% anyways. Maybe I can make it off the slacker list the next time you post an update! I just need to figure out a way update the spreadsheet mid-workout to make sure my latest workout always count!! |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: August "Don't Be A Slacker" Challenge Oh yeah, I got another bike commute in today, and a run. I was going to do speedwork but I didn't want to run around in circles on the track, and my Garmin's still broken. I even tried going to the Garmin store today to bring my watch in, but it was closed. The hours were 10-6, and I got there at 6:10 coming straight from work. Grrrr! How the heck do they expect the working public to be able to make it during those hours?? No wonder it's always empty in there. I guess I'll have to go over the weekend. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: August "Don't Be A Slacker" Challenge Up early for work yesterday (only 4 hours sleep), then headed out to take my son to school and help him move in. Got home after 11 so no workout. Its going to be pretty quiet with just the wife and I at home. I started out with such good plans this month. I didn't think it would be hard to stay on track. My goals even took a few off days into consideration because I new I had some things going on. And I'm still on the slacker list. Edited by pdbman 2010-08-20 12:05 PM |
