We are planning 7 trainings in Louisville leading up to Ironman Louisville on August 26, 2012 beginning in May.  Some of these will involve OW swims in the Ohio River....all will involve biking the IMKY bike course and several of the dates (weekends) will incorporate a Sunday morning run (8am) of most of the IMKY run course.  To find out dates and more info join our IM Louisville group at http://iamtri.com/group/ironman-louisville-2012  We usually have 75-125 for our group trainings so triathletes of all levels welcomed!

If you have questions please email me at [email protected]

Bob

I HIGHLY recommend these training days to ANYONE that can attend.  They are very, very well run and make an amazing difference come race day.  I am planning to attend several again this year, this time en route to IMLP (thats just a little too far of a drive for me....lol).  These guys do a great job!

x2!!!!!!!!!

Jhouse - thanks for the effort - turns out my LBS already has the course loaded on their tacx trainers so I'm all set!

I would love to pre-ride the real course but I given our work schedules and stuff I don't think it's in the cards so virtual will have to do!

So I am researching lodging options and was wondering if anyone has insight on the parking situation downtown.  I like the idea of being close to the action but that is going to come at a price so if parking is reasonable and plentiful I might look at staying over the river. I also would love to have a kitchen or at least a fridge and microwave. According to last year's Athlete guide looks like parking comes with a fee, any idea how much?

Here is a list of parking spots around the Yum Center (right behind host hotel): http://www.kfcyumcenter.com/parkingandtrafficinfo.aspx

I stayed in IN along with several other BT'ers and parked day of race. It was 12.00 for the day. I think that we stayed at Courtyard.

MRDAVIDALEXANDER - 2012-01-02 11:23 AM When does Louisville typically sell out of the regular spots?

The last few years I believe, it has sold out around March or April.

I am not planning on Louisville this year (as of today - I keep changing my mind back and forth), but is it possible to train with you anyway?

Just a plug for the IAMTRI group... super organized and SO helpful! I highly recommend joining one of these group weekends if you can. I drove 12 hours each way to do it last year and it was totally worth it

So how's everyone's winter training going so far?  Anyone thinking about extending their long bikes to get a jump on IMLOU training?  I have been doing 3 bike workouts a week with one at least 3+ hours each weekend.  Not worried about pace or power at this point, but just trying to keep my butt in the saddle a bit to make the transition to Ironman training a bit easier come early Spring.  Also working more on my running base right now.

I am lucky to live in the South I guess.  I can almost train outside all year.  This year (winter) has been particularly mild.  Suppose to get into the mid-60's this weekend!

I am in marathon training mode currently, but I am trying to get on a bike and in a pool at least once a week. IM training starts right after Easter, unless I pick up an early season HIM.

I haven't been spending near as much time on the bike as I had hoped. I've been spending a lot of time running since it is my weakest of the 3.  Getting the new bike in the next week or so.....bet I'll be getting more miles in when it gets here!!!

Congrats on the new bike thrfair!  I see you live in Louisville?  Lucky you being so close to the course.  I plan on traveling up to Louisville the weekend of June 30th for a IAMTRI training ride.  Hope to do the entire course then.

Has anyone given any thought, or have any experience doing the IMLOU swim with a 'speed suit'?  I do not have one, but wasn't thinking about buying one for this race.  Not sure it will be worth it, or if it might make the swim even hotter.  I expect my swim time to be between 1:10-1:14.  Not even sure it would give me any additional speed.

Thoughts?

I personally think that the water is a little hot for one. But, I swam competitively for most of my life and what people think is cold sometimes is a little hot for me.
