No; it's called public sewer, clean water and antibacterial soap with regular usage. The incidence of ALL disease dropped dramatically once those things happened.TriAya - 2012-09-07 11:04 AM lisac957 - 2012-09-07 11:01 PM I need new books to read - will look at this trilogy - is it seriously good? What kind of reading? I've recently read TWO books on Henry VIII - one on his mistress who birthed his first son, and one on his last wife. Fascinating. What a crazy time to live in. ANd nobody, I mean NOBODY, ever washed. Birth, baptism, death. If that. EEEEEEEW! How did people ever even procreate? I dunno, I guess if everybody is as stenchy and slimy as you ... but still. Cities, people, the palaces were just filthy. Which is why their mortality rates were so high. Um antibacterial soap post dates most vaccines we currently have in the arsenal. All soap has considerable antibacterial effect, especially the good old-fashioned lye and lard types. Some modern additives increase the effectiveness. No? |

YES these books (they are historical "fiction" of sorts) talked about the smells of sweat, stench of rotting flesh if someone had a wound - that they would put perfumed/herbed sacks to their nose to avoid passing out from the strong smells of... bodies and bodily things. Hawt? |

I would have thought Dial had been around since 1900 or so. My bad. It's the hyperbole of data to scare people which irritates me. But it is that season right now, no? |

Champion 16151 Checkin' out the podium girls | Subject: RE: TAN #181: Sneak atTANcking a new one ... Kido - 2012-09-07 11:36 AM Anyone every think that being a big rig trucker could be kind of fun? I had looked into it. It's the recurring costs which kill you. You pay fuel tax to states you drive through and have to make the state where you bought the fuel send it to where you drove. * hours on and 8 off; although GPS logs make this easier. Diesel maintainence and repair is STOOPID expensive. You can buy a rig for $250K in decent shape then sub out to Allied van lines or whomever to get loads. Working as a corporate driver doesn't pay nearly as well as owning your own rig. Getting certified for home heating oil and delivering that locally is pretty good money. I was really close to pulling the trigger on it and a friend taught me how to drive. I never got to be expert enough to parallel park or back up with inches of clearance. When you're single, it would have been good assuming the financials made it lucrative. But now that I have a family, NFW. |

So what was it? A relay? TXV? Condenser fan motor seized! Did you see that Dateline where they rigged up a woman with a "broken" a/c unit? Called in 6 different companies to diagnose and fix the problem, which was a $200 max fix. EVERY SINGLE ONE of them made up extra stuff that needed to be cleaned or fixed - charging anywhere from $500-1200. It made me sick. Usually there is at least one good guy so you can say "See? there are still good guys are there" but not this time. 100% of them were scammers to some degree.
