Sat - 12 mi. at marathon pace.

Sun - 1500m. swim and 45 min spin bike (recovery) This was a good recovery workout last weekend, so I'll repeat this weekend.

Mon ( I don't work Monday, so I'll count it) - 7 mi run and 3000m swim. Pyramid swim with drills for warm-up and long cool-down. Fun fun!

Sore joints I can't help with. That's a serious injury...and you're still at it years later. That's awesome...

I always put heat on my quads and hammies after a long run, especially one that beat me up like the one today. It seems to help and I won't be a messed up in the morning. I just did one session of heat and I'll do another before bed tonight. I don't know what it was but my run beat me up bad today. The pace and time was ok at the end, but the last several miles were tough...oh well. That's what getting stronger is about...

How do you feel about supplements?  I have slight elbow tendonitis and I was so desperate I decided to try anything!  A BTer suggested ?"glucosamine chondroitin with msm" so I've started taking that daily.  You can google it as google will explain better than me, but it's supposed to help with joints and that.  I bet you could find deals at your local pharmacy.  At one place I happened to find a buy one get one free deal which also came with a couple coupons, and then at a different location a couple weeks later I saw another buy one bottle get one free.  I never know if these supplements actually help, but I figure it doesn't hurt!!  Just something to look into.  I give my disclaimer I am no doctor so proceed at your own risk

Agreed.  No doctor, but have seen (and personally used) that combination typically referred to as "triple threat".  It seems to work for joint and ligament issues.  Weather its just the placebo affect or not; who knows.  But if it works it works!

I took glucosamine for a while. Thought it helped but turned out losing a few lbs helped more, for me at least. Turned out I didn't need it at all.

Banged out 3 hours on the trainer today! Pumped I did it on this diet and a day after weights. ?? 8x10' climbs thrown in there too! ????

Sunday: 2.5 mile run on trails, then 6.5 more afterwards on a hilly course.

Today: 2000m open water swim. The swim kicked my butt. OI! I'm tired and want to eat all the things.

seems that way!  Well....that, and I'm finally getting used to the weight lifting and recovering from it a bit quicker.  I've got another 2 1/2 hours on the trainer today.  I'm supposed to do 3x40' intervals at around 80%.  If I'm recovering better I should be able to do this, but it will be tough!

2 1/2 hours on the trainer. I respect that...I was mind numbingly bored after 50 min on the spin bike today. I tried listening to news podcasts and music...You are brave sir...

But seriously...do you have a way of keeping yourself from insanity when on the long trainer sessions? I think i have several in my future.

I find you just need to break it up into intervals. Tony had me do 3x40' intervals today. 40 mins absolutely sucks on a trainer. But I do the best I can. Saturday was 8x10' with 5' recoveries. These were climbs at low cadence. Listen to some music and have a tv in the background. Anything to keep it interesting.

Yep, what Brian said.  Best way to break up long times on the trainer is to do a more structured workout then just spinning.  Then just focus on each interval at a time, before you know it the time is up!

If I'm doing something less intense (<80%), I'll just throw on a good action / military movie and go at it.  If it's higher intensity intervals I'll put some good music on or watch a Sufferfest video.

Thanks for the advice on trainer rides, guys. I'll figure something out.

Chilly AM run of 3 miles today (cut from 4). It was indeed a day to develop a smidge of mental toughness. Brrrr... 3000m swim after work.

I'm pooped.

Yesterday was 4 miles in the gym and some strength work. Today is swim team and mid week speed work with my running group. Looks like 6-7 miles of Indian running. Our team leader is very creative and likes to make it "fun". It hurts, but people in the group are very entertaining, which makes it easier.

This weekend husband and I are going on a couple's retreat provided by the Air National Guard called "Strong Bonds". Two nights at a nice hotel at their expense. We're going to learn how to communicate better and such. We're going to run his 15 mile long run together, and we're right on the water so I can walk to the beach and get some open water swimming done too with his supervision. Really looking forward to it all!

I'm actually going to nap after I get off from work, before picking up my daughter. I need that extra bit of energy for the evening. Swim/run bricks kick my butt!

I rode with a strong MTBer at lunch today and she killed me. I'm exhausted. No run tonight. Hot dang, that was tough. Crashed twice, and my hands hurt from the death grip I had on my bars. This was not traipsing through the hills run. That stuff I'm used to. This was training. She had me doing sprints and laps. I didn't even know I could do that stuff! I cannot wait to lay in fetal position after dinner.

Tomorrow is rest day. I have lots of life to do too, Joel! Laughing

Keep riding with her!  You'll get fast quick!

My workouts still suck!  I've been having a heck of time getting through them.  Just trying to stick with this and put in the time.  Failure is completly burning me out though.

I've got a tough pyramid swim and a Kettle Bell workout tonight, then can look forward to a rest day.  Saturday will be my toughest day this week.  I've got to try and fit in a swim, bike, and a run for a total of 3:15 hours.  I have to fit that in somewhere between taking my dog to the vet, going to the hardware store, and starting my basement pain cave project! Sealed
