Veteran 288 Owings, MD | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread So I just walked another 2.1 this evening with my husband & daughter. It's my "walk or cross-train" day according to my 10K plan. Do you think that still counts toward our totals? I said I was doing run/walk time when I signed up. Laurie |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Hrm things that go bump in the night... I was wondering what I ran over on my bike lastnight... maybe they should change thier name to speedbumps. As for vampires... frequent flying miles don't count. You need to put those tiny feet on the ground and move forward without tipping over. As for swiming.. closest YMCA is like 150 miles, which is probably where the closest indoor pool is (one way). It will suck to do my first tri having not done any swiming at all in like 6 months, let alone any real swimming in like many years. The last time I even did the crawl was in um lets see, 1982 maybe. I guess I best pick a tri with a pool for swiming so they can throw me a rope if it goes south. Hopefully general fitness will help me to survive. That way I will not have to bring the sword along to kill the sharks during the epic swim... (from the original text) |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread lyssa-gator - 2007-10-04 11:06 AM as far as biking, i havent touched my bike since the race (labor day) i detest it. i want a new bike, i'd like to take my bike and run over it 17 times with a garbage truck. i DO need to get on it though, a new bike isnt in the budget until spring-boo hoo, poor me of the three-running is my strong point, but i would like to improve. i'd love to be able to RUN a half mary next year, and i think i'd like to try an oly next year too. Well, my bike is an old stationary one. With the big fly wheel up front. Since I want to do my first Sprint next Spring, I'll have to get a "real one" before that. Running is my weakest point. I... can.... not.... run. Hence, the tiny goal for the month. I'm doing mostly walking now, and adding in some jogging. By the end of the month, hopefully, I'll be doing more jogging and less walking. I'd like to do my first Sprint Tri next Spring. (The only thing I'm not worried about is the swim!)

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Grats kns. My bike is a $65 K-mart special mountain bike, with a child's seat on the back for my 2 year old (who goes on 10 mile rides with me sometimes)... a 12.5 mph pace on pavement is pretty good for me on that thing and on trails 10 mph is awsome. I am thinking I may need a new bike as well... road bike or tri bike, not sure about the neck angle on a tri bike. Clipless pedals should be interesting, never used them before. Ah life what an adventure, a bunch of grownups talking about whose bike is cooler and how far they can run, high they can jump and fast they can swim. Beats the hell out of talking about how much beer they can drink, many burgers they can eat and how many holes they can put in their belt to fit around their bellys. |

You can totally do your first tri on whatever bike you own... Ive seen everything out there, hybrids, mountain bikes and yes Kmart bikes so just ride what you have access to by all means! And remember while a flash bike is nice (I lust after them) most of what makes you go well is the YOU as you are the engine! |

It's my "walk or cross-train" day according to my 10K plan. Do you think that still counts toward our totals? I said I was doing run/walk time when I signed up. Laurie Cat said as long as you declare it when you sign up, it's ok. (I'm paraphrasing. I don't remember her exact words. Her post is earlier in this forum though.) So if you said it, then yes, I think it counts. Personally, I'm doing walk/run. I'm recording the mileage for both. If I happen to meet my goal earlier, I'll ask if I can set a new (higher) goal. Dee

Of course it counts Some participants are walk only... as long as you are consistent with what you include its all good! |

AND we're going to totally clean up on this competition!! where's husker-tri?? has she posted again since the very beginning?? hope she's all right. we should all bop over to her logs and "inspire" her if you know what i mean > Hm, she set us all up as "Friends." So she WAS online long enough to do that. And it says that she DID log on today. (Last logon2007-10-04 5:11 PM.) So she's been around, at least. I left an inspire for her, too. Hopefully, she's been out running all day, and was too busy to update her log. Or maybe she'll stop by here to check in and say hello to us. Dee
She didn't set me up as a friend - I stopped and inspired everyone the other day. Hmm... Hopefully we will hear soon. Keeping my fingers crossed. Stacie |

I see a bunch of our team members. Well, according to her statistics, she was online today. So hopefully, she'll either post to her log, or stop by here to give us an update.Or.... we can go RUN to her house and knock on her door. (Yes, RUN is in caps. Because this is a RUN challenge. But I have a feeling she doesn't live close to me. LOL)She didn't set me up as a friend - I stopped and inspired everyone the other day. Hmm... Hopefully we will hear soon. No indoor pool nearby? The pool I use is 88 degrees F. It's like being in a bath tub. (Sad to say, I've gotten VERY used to it. LOL) You have a wetsuit already? Why not give it a try? Worst case, you don't do it again. Best case, you find out it's manageable. (Easy for me to say. I'm the one in the 88 F pool.) |

Expert 973 Berkeley, Calif. | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Four miles for me tonight! I was actually hoping to run a full 40 minutes and get closer to 4.25, but I pushed myself too hard and kind of fell apart at the end. Oh well, I'm still on target for the challenge, and that's what's important, right? I did skip my swim tonight, though. I'll have to squeeze that in tomorrow or Saturday (along with a bike and one more run -- eep!). |

(it's a high school pool) so no indoor swimming for me. i'll try to get out in the lake with the wetsuit on, and see how it goes. the water level goes way down in the winter, so it'll be weird, but it's worth a try |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Hello Everyone - Happy Friday. I have attached the spreadsheet - it appears most of us are on our way. The majority of us are over 10% which is good for the goal. I am hoping to get in another 4 miles this week to be up over the 25% goal since I figure then if I have problems later in the month (umm Vegas Trip middle of Oct and slack) then I have a little wiggle room It is supposed to be nice here in OKC today but rainy and crappy this weekend so I better get the mileage in today. This weekend is going to be a lazy weekend for me since I start another 2 classes of grad school on Monday. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
