Wowsers Andria.  Hope you are getting better!

Dave, Andria's experience makes me a little worried about the ammonia stuff!

you're right - not the most comforting thing in the world...

Quick check of Nephrotic syndrome does not mention ammonia odor nor do I present with any other symptom.... WHEW!

Hi, sorry, didn't mean to do that!  I also noticed it's not mentioned as a symptom (maybe most folks with it aren't exercising).  I had mentioned it to my doctor and she said it can indicate a kidney and/or liver problem...But, yes, other symptoms will be there first.

I did a quick Google and it sounds like there are a few other folks out there irritated with this smell after certain types of exercise...hang in there and good luck!

Have a good day everyone....I'm looking at my planned training for today and feel like going back to bed : (

I'm getting back into working out. Visiting with the trainer was a real pick-me-up. He's already warned me I'll be pretty sore on weight days, but that I have to keep up the cardio. If I don't post the rest of this week, you'll all know why .

My season (if the trainer doesn't kill me) is:
- "100% Irish for a Day" 5k in March
- looking for another 5k in April and/or May
-giving serious thought to a local sprint the end of June (time limit is the same, but the distances are shorter!)
- still gonna make a push to make the Egg Harbor sprint in July. It'll be a sprint for me, that's for sure

I am excited to find out that the sprint tri series I planned to start with is adding a duathlon in April to the may, june and july tri's.  That will be a good way for me to start without the stress of the ocean swim.  So now I'll probably do the duath in April, watch/volunteer at the may tri (sorry the water is still too cold for me) and then do the june and july tris.  Now I just need to find an oly to finish with in maybe September

Good way to work into it.  Find a buddy to go do some open water swim practice with too!

One aspect of training I learned to embrace last year was even if you don't feel like working out, just do it.  It's okay to lower intensity a bit, it's okay to shorten things a bit, but get a workout in.  After the fact, you will be glad you did.  By doing so it also allows you to really make the most of your scheduled rest days as you won't feel guilty for skipping workouts.  This applies to your comments above too Andria!

bump.  HI!  Just checkin in.  I'm struggling getting up in the early AM to train, but that is the only time I have.  I do so much better when I do it in the morning as apposed to late at night.  Problem is... my bed is soft and cozy and warm, and I don't wanna!  Any ideas how to get out of bed???

Regimom, I find mornings really tough too.  The only way to get a workout in before work for me is to think of it as an appointment.  I don't like cancelling appointments!

Zilla, how did you  hurt your neck?  I messed mine up this weekend and got a beat-me-up type massage on Monday to help with it.  The muscle from the base of my skull was a big knot all the way down my back.   I've got the range of motion back but still some soreness.  My massage therapist is awesome!

regimom - I love the bed! - but I also have been able to do the early morning thing. I suppose each of us is different .. my shcedule is far more conducive to early training than late - plus i find less people tro contend with early... anyway I ramble.. I just remind myself that  the the volume i put in now ( in the dark cold winter months) will pay off in the summer - like money in the bank.. but thats just me. I also go to bed at 9:30 usually

If I didn't know any better I think we had the same bed.  I usually don't get home until midnight so my early morning training is hit and miss.  I just try to get something in while the oldest is at school and the youngest is at pre-school.

Set up your alarm clock on the other side of the room so you have to get up OUT of the bed when it goes off.  Sometimes I set my clock alarm, my watch alarm and my cell phone alarm to all go off within a few minutes of each other so if I do hit the "snooze" the other alarms will annoy me enough to wake me up.

For the record, I also love the bed.  I wish I could get to bed earlier, but my most productive times are late at night.  Always have been that way.  Probably why I'm okay with working out after work and then taking care of whatever needs to be done.

Spanglers, you work second shift?  I gotta think that would be tough.  I keep "modified bankers hours."  Meaning, I usually get to work around 9 and am here until 6 or so.  I am fortunate to have very flexible work hours.

I agree with setting the alarm on the other side of the room. I did that when I was single. Now my wife just whacks me if I hit the snooze. But getting up means nothing to me if I do not get a shower in - even if it is just to just go for a swim, run, whatever. The shower wakes me up and gets me going. No shower = Eric very sleepy and no workout. Good luck!

Yep - 2nd shifter!  Gotta leave my house around 2pm.  On a good night I can get home by midnight.  I actually like the shift except during the school year when I don't get to see the oldest boy for more that 20 - 30 minutes a day.  That kinda sucks.  Plus I miss out on all the evening rides / events when the weather gets warm because I'm at work.

Greetings from Breckenridge! Going to be snowboarding tomorrow and Saturday, and get to have lunch with regimom and mmakbenton on Sunday!!!  Sweet!

I've got The Stick too, it is awesome for the legs but I haven't used it for my back.   I tried a roller but just hurt myself with it!
