DoloresM2 - 2008-01-08 8:47 PM It's Pieta by Michelangelo - I took that pic when I went to Italy last month for the marathon. One of my favorites.

it's beautiful!

Dear Team Ride Lots,

I would like to point your attention towards Beth's weekly "Challenge Update."

In it, she mentions that Team Ride Lots is not a chatty team.

However, Beth neglected to mention that if she can't find "topics of conversation" on your team thread worth reporting, she will subject you to the "World According to Beth" version of events!

Yes, that's right.... If you guys don't start talking soon, come next week's update, BETH may provide HER version interpretation of your conversation.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.....

Um... OK. So your post occurred at the same time as my post.... And said almost exactly the same thing....

And yet -- we weren't talking to one another.

Um. That's scary. We've been spending too much time together on BT, I think. LOL

Did you know that you have 5697 posts in the Challenge forum! (I peeked at your stats!)

And the only time that you have NOT posted on BT is during the hours of 4 AM - 6 AM. LOL

(Don't bother looking at my stats. I'm sure they tell a similar story. LOL)

I'm doing my first IM this year as well in Wisconsin. Anyone got any good winter trainer rides for IM or HIM training? I'm doing some research online and with books, but I'm always looking for other suggestions too.

Sorry, I don't.... But hopefully, some of the people here will have good suggestions for you. There's a lot of "biking talent" on this team.

Have you looked through the BT training plans? Or maybe you can ask this in some of the other forums too, like "Triathlon Talk" or "Iron Distance"? They might have more ideas for you, as well. (Wait! Don't leave the Challenge forum! We love having people here! Well, ok - maybe you can go "elsewhere" for a few minutes... It is all within BT, after all. LOL)

Good luck!

I decided to up my goal miles from 350 to 400 this morning being that I am already at 212.  I don't want to be accused of sandbagging or anything like that .  I did change the spreadsheet.

I have a trainer ride scheduled for tomorrow and another 30 miler planned for Sunday. The weather is looking iffy for Sunday. I'm wondering if I should swap my trainer ride for the road tomorrow. Hmmm.

I posted something in Iron distance.

I must confess I had to skip my trainer workout this morning (the need to earn a paycheck called), but I plan to ride a little longer tomorrow. Keep up the good work everyone in getting your miles in.

Afternoon clearing, but windy. They are calling for scattered showers on Sunday. If it is clear tomorrow, I guess I'll do the 30 miler. I just don't think I can stomach 2 hours on the trainer. Blech.

Get a DVD and watch a movie

I have even been known ot pop into chat or TAN during my workout if the intensity is low enough. (I set up my laptop on a table right next to my trainer) I set the audible alarm on my HRM so that if I drop below a threshold, it starts to beep. (and I know I have to pick up the pace)

I have 2 hours on the trainer planned for tonight after dinner and gonna watch 300.

I think a lot of it is attitude going into the trainer ride.  I did 3 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday and have done this a couple of times.  I know I have to do it so I just do it. It just takes a little planning to have something to occupy the mind like a movie.  I hadn't thought about bringing my laptop down though, I like on line poker and that maybe be doable on the bike.  It was also suggested, although I haven't talked the wife into letting me buy one yet, that in aero position your hands are in a good position for a video game controller.  I have a 3.5 hour ride this Saturday (although it may not happen if I decide to run in a local race) and looking ahead I think the longest scheduled that will be on the trainer is 6 hours in the middle of Febuary.

That is because all the rest of us are riding and not everyone has mastered the art of using their computer and riding at the same time.

To be sure, I have to put myself in "BRB" mode whenever an Interval is higher intensity spinup is required.

I actually long for the day when I can ride outside again

Ortho says not yet

I know I won't be online during my trainer workout. It is ladder intervals delving deep into the hardest gears I can push. And at high cadence. A thigh-burner for sure. Now if I have to do the 30 miler inside, bring on the entertainment!
