I love that you get the stunning shape of your eyes from your "Mum". I figured it was from the Indonesian side.

Indeed! My mom actually is the one with a flat face and squinty eyes. (I'm so culturally sensitive. You put it so much more nicely.) My dad has big round eyes, huge nose, big ears, craggy features ... go figure.

GOOD LUCK RACING MANATEES!!!!!

I'm running long on Saturday (probably 14-15 miles) and then on Sunday it looks like I will be waiting for the tropical storm/hurricane to pass.  Thankfully, the projection is for it just to give us a glancing blow before it heads up into the panhandle.  Unfortunately, that means my planned 3 hr bike ride will have to take place on the trainer.  I hate the trainer!  1 hr trainer rides drive me nuts, so i'm not optimistic that i will actually get this work out done.

Haha!

My dad has a Scottish/Irish heritage and he has the caterpillar eyebrows (and temper) to testify to it.

According to the all-knowing Chrissie, 90 minutes on the drainer is equivilent to 2 hours outside.  So I figure you can get away with 2:15 Wink

ha ha.  one of my SIL is of chinese decent.  She and my brother have an 8 yr old daughter who has auburn hair.  It's beautiful, but the laws of genetics say it should not be (obviously somewhere in my SIL's background there is a caucasian they didn't know about).  The rest of her features are asian. However, she thinks of herself more of Irish decent (my family is 100% Irish) probably because she is extremely close to my side of the family - maybe that's why she has some red in her hair Recently I looked at her and asked her which one of us has the bluer eyes.  She was taken back for a second before letting me know I was none too bright to ask that question.

ENERGETIC PIGLET MOVIES.

I have been watching the Deadwood series for my mid-week trainer rides.  They are not very energetic and there is only one person i would classify as a "piglet" (hello Timothy Olyphant), so I guess i need to find a better choice for Sunday.

Is that the really grim Western-style series? I loved it when I was in the U.S.

Although, if you find it un-energetic and not piglet-rich, yes, perhaps a better choice is in order. What sort of show would make you look forward to a trainer ride, as a reward?

Yes.  It's a great show and does help distract me, although sometimes i can't get the volume high enough on the Ipad to hear all the dialogue.  I'll have to give some thought to what type of show would actually make me look forward to a trainer ride.  Do you have suggestions?

It is a 7 stage pro bike race that is being contested in Colorado this week. They've been doing daily summaries on TV, similar to TdF.  The first stage was Monday from Durango to Telluride.  They've gone over some beautifully difficult passes in Colorado. Today they finished in Colorado Springs.  Tomorrow they ride to Boulder (TeeJay Van Garderen's home town) and they finish with a TT in Denver. We were up there last weekend for a "non-race-related vacation" and it was all I could do to be so close to that race and not go see it!!!!!! The closest I got was seeing the BMC truck in the parking lot of our hotel Yell

I like NCIS LA and DC both. Lotsa piglets, lotsa action, some good laughs, too.

And this is probably not what you want to hear, but I often take an hour on the trainer to listen to nothing, do nothing but pedal; I even close my eyes and simply immerse myself in the meditative, transcendent experience going on.

Most of the people who have tried this have found it some of the hardest but most worthwhile riding they've done.

Well, I'll be. I just learned that Erin McLeod, the Canadian goalie whose heroic exploits I watched so carefully in the Olympics, is none other than the same Erin McLeod who attended my school all the way here in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Well that is 90min on the drainer ride done, cranking up through the gears.  I have a random mix of R and B that is not what I usually listen to but for riding it's perfect - 50cent is soooo annoying but the rhythm works well on the bike.  I'm in the hardest gear by Alicia Keys and I'm standing and pedalling - the first hour is the hardest after that I'm fine and could go all day.

Squad this afternoon.  yay!

1. "Oh look! Vot ees thees vonderfool mug?"

2. "I like thees mug!"

(Me: grrrrrrr ... )

She is really cute, though. She's turning 79 soon and I really, really, really hope I hold up half as well as she has by the time I'm, say, 35. (Oh well ... too late ... shootin' for 40)

I'm in love with an older woman.

ENERGETIC PIGLET MOVIES.

I have been watching the Deadwood series for my mid-week trainer rides.  They are not very energetic and there is only one person i would classify as a "piglet" (hello Timothy Olyphant), so I guess i need to find a better choice for Sunday.

You could switch to Justified.  More Timothy Olyphant and it is a great series.  I hear he is also very entertaining in "the Girl Next Door," but I didn't actually watch that one.

I am still awake.  It is almost 2 am.  However, if I fall asleep before 4 like the previous two nights, I will consider it a victory.

WTF, that's a late night! or early morning.

Just off to a party with Artemis - it's a couple of girlfriends of mine, they just built a deck so having a little party to christen it.  Should be nice, catch up with the girls (same girls I caught up with last night for dinner!)
