PennState - 2010-03-18 7:14 PM Get that new bike out! Lol Hey anyone thinking they will do LP in 2011? Just asking

I want to try some other IM's like IMWI, IMFL, IMAZ then maybe IMCD or IMCDA.  Then again depends on what happens this year I just may stick with a 2-3 HIM's.

I may try a non-IM iron-distance next year, just to be easier on the entrance fees. Or I might get into some long-distance swimming--there are some 10k swims near me that look interesting. Or go back to doing ultramarathons, or do some half-IMs. So much to do, so little time... You never know. Depending on how the race goes this year I might get hooked and end up in the IMLP signup line on Monday, too.

What a great day! 72 and sunny! I took a vacation day and got 89 miles done by late afternoon. So psyched! Way ahead of training from 2 years ago. This weather makes up for all the snow we had this winter.

89 miles is a lot for this time of year... just be careful.
Ahhh I hear your point, but the plan I am following called for a 4-5 hour ride this week. I think most I have seen call for this duration ride at this point. We are about 7-8 weeks in now. Do you think some of these plans are overly aggressive? I look at some of the weeks and just know I won't have the time to get those kind of hours in....life gets in the way.

127 Days and Counting!!!!!

Ok, I just had a freak out moment, similar to DC's previous moments. lol

So, on the 28th (March) my official BT IM Advanced 17 week plan begins and I and I am a little worried that it's not enough. I am currently using the winter maintenance bike plan, which has been putting me to work! Just on Thursday I had to swim 4400 yds and the new plan that is going to begin doesn't call for anything that distance for a while. So what gives????

Has anyone out there used the advanced 17 week plan? Any thoughts on the new plan that I am about to start, or do I just need to sit down have a beer and relax and stick to the plan? If you want to take a look at my log and I will add you, just let me know.

Thanks
Albert

Albert,

I used the advanced plan last summer and felt that I was well prepared for my IM.  I failed in my nutrition and I was new to hills but I felt that with a proper nutrition plan I would have had a great race.  I plan on using the plan again as soon as I get the okay to train.   I'd love to take a look at your logs. -chris

Is that all?  I was worried that this IMLP thread wasn't going to make it too 100 pages.

You'll be fine use the plan.  Many people have used those plans and finished.  As far as your long swim it depends on your goals.  You always can modify any part of your plan.  Maybe just throw is a couple long ows.

PennState - 2010-03-20 7:10 AM I am debating whether to ride the Zipps as is or to attach my rear disc cover though.

Last 2 years I have used the disc cover... this year I am still thinking about it

Why the change in thought?  The disk cover is more aero.
