Morning Beasties.

How long have you been doing tris? Well... two years but I didn't do any last year.
What got you into triathlon-ing? Probably it was a mid life crisis. I was trying to lose weight and started running. Someone mentioned doing tris. I figured that was something "athletes" did, not me. Then, after a bit It seemed to jell. I love Mt biking and I love to swim just not fast at either. Why not I said. and I did.
What are your goals this year? To not get discouraged like I did last year. Keep at it and finish a 1/2M.

What's your favorite tri sport? Running, followed by swimming. I love to swim I have lousy form and am slow but I can do it all day long
What's your least favorite tri sport? Biking, I am terrified of road biking since being hit by a car. Perservering though

Current challenges/obstacles? Overcoming my slug-like nature, I'll procrastinate a workout for ever but LOVE when  I get it done. And balance with family job and training. (like everyone else).

What's your favorite part about training for tris? That I can- I never ever ever thought of myself (with good reason) as an athlete
What's your least favorite part? Becoming comfortable with the idea that I am never going to be good at this. Wrapping my mind around the concept that it is OK to have a goal of compLete rather than compete.

How many races did you do last year? A few 5 Ks
How many races are you planning on this year? Two sprints, two HMs a couple of 5 ks and a 10 k. I may not get to do the first half mary though, with this leg issue. It is in 3 weeks and I am way behind. OMG!

Ramble over...

I'm off to see the wizard the wonderful wizard of Oz.......Hello I am scarecrow and I need to see the wizard about a brain!....uggg I swear I am loosing it. I have been forgetting and loosing things for the last few weeks....left hubby's i-pod at the Y, forgot to pick up my daughters music for solo, misplaced my keys...only to find them in the truck!  lost my phone, and now I can not find my clipboard that has my training plan all mapped out for the season! Lauren helped me put it together and it listed all my distances and what I should be focusing on...... It has been missing for over a week and I kept thinking it was in one of my many workout bags....well it isn't! Looked all over the house, looked all over at work....I took it everywhere! It also had my members heart rate zones that I tested 2 weeks ago! I don't know what to do! I couldn't sleep at all last night!

Good morning, bEASTies!
Got another drainer ride in this morning.  Getting ever-closer to that biking goal.  Still need to slip in on or two more runs and get to the pool A LOT!   But it always feels good to get that morning workout out of the way... especially when I layed there for 5 minutes after the alarm went of and had an "internal battle" with myself as to whether or not I should get up.  The little angle on my shoulder won out, so the workout is in the books!  Swimming at lunch.  Getting ready to take the bEASTies interview...

What got you into triathlon-ing?

I was at a neighborhood party where many of us were "feeling no pain".  Three of the female neighbors were talking about doing a "mini triathlon".  I thought it sounded really cool, even though I hadn't done any swimming in a long time.  Several days/weeks later, the subject came up again with a co-worker.  This time sober, I went online and did some research.  Found a sprint triathlon (2008 Tri for our Veterans in Sea Isle, NJ) that was far enough out to get in a few months of training and we both signed up.  The rest, as they say, is history.

What are your goals this year?

Finish my two Olympic tris in less than 2:45, finish my HIM in less than 6:00.  But most importantly, ENJOY the races and ENJOY the journey.  Don't get too caught up in little pitfalls that are inevitable.

What's your favorite tri sport?

It's funny, but it changes frequently.  Right now, it's running.  During a race, it's definitely biking.  I hate bike training because I just don't feel safe on the roads.  In a race, you can focus solely on the race (speed, HR, intensity, etc.), and not worry about traffic and dying and crap like that.  I'm kinda blah on swimming right now, but need to snap out of that.

Current challenges/obstacles?

Getting long runs and bike rides in on the weekends.  It's tough to juggle that around family stuff.

I saw this last night but was just too tired to think...  I figured it would also be a good thing to do at work!

How long have you been doing tris? My first was a sprint tri in Aug 2005.  The next summer I was "off" since I was pregnant with my 2nd, but have been doing at least one each summer since then.
What got you into triathlon-ing? Hah... a girlfriend mentioned it to my husband, and then kind of to me as an afterthought.  I thought it would be a good idea to try to lose the baby weight from my 1st.  Honestly, it also irked that I was an afterthought...  like I couldn't really do it.  I wanted to prove her wrong.  It actually ended up being a whole group of us that did this race this summer - me, hubby, our two friends and my sister in law.  It's now an annual tradition!
What are your goals this year? To redeem myself at the Cayuga Lake Oly.  Last year, I thought I would never make it across the finish line.  I need to prove to myself that I can do much better!  And that an Oly can be fun too.  Also, want to do the century ride for the Tour de Habitat this year (up from the 50 miler last year).

What's your favorite tri sport? Hmmm...  this is tough for me.  I come from a swimming background and have always loved swimming.  But I'm not a huge fan of swimming with creatures and it is such a pain in the arse to get to the pool.  These detract from my love of swimming.  I now really like biking actually, which is surprising to me since this was the part I hated at first.
What's your least favorite tri sport? Running, hands down.  I have awful form and I am slower than a snail.  I never get any faster and I just find it SO frustrating.  And my calf always hurts!  I do wish I could just suck it up and run more, because then I would HAVE to get better and would probably like it more.

Current challenges/obstacles? Like many others, my biggest obstacle is just juggling family, work and training.  I am also a master procrastinaor so I NEED a plan.  And a challenge like this to hold me accountable!

What's your favorite part about training for tris? Completing something I (and many others) never thought that I could do.  I love that feeling of accomplishment that you get when you cross the finish line!  I also like setting a healthy example for my kids and showing them what you can do with a little determination.
What's your least favorite part? Again, the running...  Really, the weather maybe?  Every single race I did last year had pouring raing for some, if not all, of it.  I also do not like the previously mentioned lake creatures.

How many races did you do last year? Without looking at my log...  2 spints (but got a flat in one and didn't do the run), one Oly, a few 5Ks and a 50 mile bike.
How many races are you planning on this year? Probably 3 tris - definitely one Oly, one sprint.  The 3rd could be either sprint or oly - haven't decided yet.  A few 5ks here and there.  And hopefully a century ride this fall.

Just knowing that I am involved in this awesome sport and how fantastic it makes me feel... knowing that I'm adding years to my life and having a blast doing it...  Comraderie... Variety...
