Call it good timing to blow more money. Decided to check on my Garmin 310 yesterday and found out it was dead...kaput. Tried everything to restart it and just couldn't get it going. After calling customer service they decided it was dead also and I would need to send it in with $100.00 and pay for shipping to get a refurbished one back in exchange. Was looking on Facebook and my LBS posted they just got a new shipment of 910xt's in. Since I had $200 worth of gift cards burning a whole in my pocket and no real needs decided it was time for an upgrade. I guess it's time to start playing around with my new toy.

Hello everyone,

I got back late last night and spent the night near Dulles airport just so I could have time to sleep before coming to work. Mentally not ready for it after spending a week of pure lazy and unadulterated vagabondness through sunny warm/hot Cancun. I spent the week with the family and had a lot of fun. I actually was up every morning at the crack of dawn waiting for the sun to come up, sipping coffee and enjoying the moment.

I ran almost every morning with the exception of Wednesday as we took an early tour, of course, the heavy drinking the night before did not help either. Friday was the last day I ran and by the end of the run, my left knee (area around it) was hurting. By night time I could hardly walk without pain. Since then I've been on motrin and walking with a limp. I am doing a lite spin tonight and see how that goes.

Fred- sorry to hear about you wearing the boot! sending good vibes your way!  BTW- your LOL joke about your daughter swimming the 100m in 1:3x and beating the old man- will definitely be coming a reality soon that is fantastic- I know you are a proud papa!

Rudy - You are a BEAST!

Chris- great hill run you had the other day-

Kim-   It is great to ride and train with others- it certainly makes training more fun!

James- you are close enough that we'll have to get together for some sbr

Tom- have you decided on which bike you are getting?

Rymac- solid week of training

I was on the list for the FLO or still am. I just have not pulled the trigger. I spoke with one of the owner via email and asked him about using my current power tap hub on his back wheel and pretty much told me that they are not to that point as of yet. It will be in the future though.

As far as power vs aero wheels. I invested on the power meter. I am still thinking on getting the engine finely tuned. Aero wheels definitely do help and it is noticeable how much easier is to keep speed up. I was lucky enough to have bought a power meter from a friend from the tri club who sold it for under 400. I could not pass that one up specially when I was trying to buy an aero wheel.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!

thomas

Hey Gang -

I know it has been a while since I have popped in.  This is a very busy time of the year for me.  I am juggling training, umpiring, and the end of the year getting ready for next year stuff at work.

Traning is going good.  This weekend was a solid week of training for Tif and me.  Yesterday did and eight mile run and then today put in 40 miles on the bike.  The legs are a bit tired but it was some good workouts.

Hope everyone is doing good.

Fred - I have a wheel cover I purchased from Wheelbuilder last year. WTC Cozumel does not allow disc wheels nor covers for the race. I am looking for something aero for that race.

Have a great trip Fred!!

Well i had some quality time with my daughter this weekend with my wife away, but was not able to get workouts in Friday or Saturday due to having to attend to a puppy and a 2 year old solo.  I did get a great ride in yesterday and hooked up with a local tri team for their second half of their ride, the ride leader is the reining amateur duathlon world champion, he did not only win his AG, he won the race overall. We got into a little TT drag race at one point and he left me in the dust, and i do not think he was even trying.  But it was a great ride and i learned a lot, especially that i am in reasonably good shape going into this weekends race. It erased a lot doubt from the failure of my thursday interval, so there were a ton of positives from the ride. Overall i was pretty happy!!

If you had a chance to go to something like below, assuming you were slow like me (yes, I know there are slower), would you go?  Trying to decide if it is worth it or not.  I struggle with just running vs changing how I run.  Note, I do have at least one biomechanical issue when I run, which shows up as IB issues if I don't stay on top of my strength training.  Also, I am a month out from race day.  Is that too close to even consider this?

Problems with your running? Pain? Injury? Just slow?

It doesn't matter if you're running 5:00 or 15:00 miles, running incorrectly can cause pain, can slow you down, and can just make running not fun. Let's fix you!

Hopefully you all can keep up the great discussion and self lead the group for a few days. Take care folks.

Have a great trip Fred! that is my favorite place to visit! Enjoy!.... gonna be a lot of walking, hmmm would be funny seeing you in a Segway wearing a tri helmet.

Have fun Fred...I am jealous!  I could use a vacation about now...february in MI...yup vacation would be nice..1.5 more months and FL bound.

I am taking a day off today to rest up.

I have been having some minor pain in my ankle during running.  I was hoping 3 days off from running would help it but it really did not.  I sprained my ankle 3-4 weeks ago trail running but I was able to run fine the next day.  I am thinking it may be some minor ankle tendinitis as a result of that..not sure what else it could be.  The pain is really not much on the pain scale but noticeable...mostly hoping it does not turn into something more than that.  I rarely get injuries so maybe I was due.
