Hey all, don't forgt about weigh in tomorrow am!!!Swam for the first time in weeks. Shoulder is still a bit tweaked so glad I am not doing any speed work. I guess I still need more strength. Felt ok, legs felt good (I am awake kicker).Kelly - how was the swim. You said you are worse at OW, will this course help you with that?

jsklarz - 2012-03-05 10:16 AM Jen - I have TYR paddles.  Use them without the wrist straps.  their purpose is to help with hand position.  If your hand position is wrong it tugs or  comes off your hand.  You learn pretty quickly what to do with your hands.

Thanks, Jeff.  Do use the red ones? Or did you go a size up from that?

the yellow ones, see kelly's post regarding why.

I am not a believer that paddles are a good way to work on strength in the pool.

For working on the catch and early vertical forearm these are the best:

Up early for a trainer ride and will squeeze in some core later today.  My husband threw my only pair of Desoto 400 mile shorts in the dryer, and they are too small now.  Grr.  I think I'm going to hit up some sales and score some 2010 - 2011 tri shorts.  Mine are falling apart.  I feel like I'm making some progress in the pool.  Getting back to swimming felt rough this time around, considering I took nearly 2.5 months off.  Endurance is finally there.

What's everyone else doing today?

Is doing the fist drill similar to wearing these paddles?

Similar.  I find the paddles to be even more effective than using a fist.

I was up @ 4:15am, on my way to the basement with laptop, phone, water bottles, workout, and somehow my heel missed the step. Ouch, I think my tailbone landed on the top step which has that metal strip. Hurt like ^#>^#€~ I could hardly move so I crawled back to bed and will try again tonight. It was like slow motion, I bounced on a few steps, and my laptop tumbled over and over. I'm really a klutz!

Good morning everyone!  My first run outside I think all winter! (except Disney races).  It seems to either always be snowing or raining here ... Felt good.

Also, missing pretty much everyone but myself and Andrew on the weigh in today.  Don't forget!!! Race season is just getting kicked off!

Nothing serious, the usual buffet of adult worry-type-items: money, kids, house.  happens every few weeks.

My husband is the same way.  I am fortunate in that I am easily able to shut it all off when my head hits the pillow.  A blow horn could fire 1 inch from my ear and I wouldn't even flinch  Maybe tonight you'll be able to put it out of your mind and get a decent night of sleep.
