jlangene - 2013-03-08 8:44 PM Yes I am alive!  Sorry for my absence spent all week fighting a miserable cold and finally feel better.  Pretty nervous about the bataan death march next sunday.  I haven't trained in a week and a half while recovering from being sick.  So I was hoping you all can give me some advice.  I can't workout tomorrow I'm working a 24, but Sunday and the rest of the week is wide open.  Should I go back to my normal routine before the march?  Should I do some short runs and bikes this week?  What should I eat before the march?  Any advice would be great, thanks!

Realistically, anything you do now is not really going to help the death march so focus on your "A" race. Basically pick the triathlon you want to kick butt at. Start training for it.  Mine is mid july so all my training is geared for that even though I will probably do 2-3 races before that.

Sometimes a week off will give you more focus and allow you to recover properly, especially if you are training hard!

Good luck!

Thanks.  My "A" race is not for a while it is September 14.  It is actually the reason I started looking into this craziness.  We are having our first ever adventure race at one of my parks in Raton.  It is going to be a trail run, kayak, bike, shooting event.  Here is the website if you want to check it out.

kevinbe - 2013-03-08 12:14 AM If I do not make it outside tomorrow for a run, I will officially retire from any endurance sports training.  I've pi$$ed away this entire week with NO excuse.  First time in 3 years I've just not been interested.

All or nothing huh?  Don't you dare retire.  You got this, whats bothering you? Life in general? We are here for you Kevin no matter what.

Feeling good here....besides the lack of training! I think food changes are slowly helping, really got to get out and hit the pavement here though, its warming up and you can actually see some pavement here now through the snow! I am close to making a declaration of a furious nature, such as Kevin did.....but not quite yet... hopefully everyone's weekend is going well!

You got this Kevin.  3 years and of that only 1 week of feeling like this.  Odds are you will get right back on the horse and be stronger than ever!  I'm in agreement with the rest of BDAS...don't quit on us!!

pretty quiet Sunday here folks! I am currently stuck in the 'Work Zone' aka the "No-Workout Zone", however rumors of a possible shower installation and gym equipment have me cautiously optimistic about my chances to spin some wheels on the company dime!

I am done with snow... Sure - I got to enjoy a snowday but I  had to shovel 18 inches of the white stuff today today... luckily my back doesn't hurt too much but give me a break!

I've got a date with my urologist today.  Hopefully he can shed some light on my problem so I can get back to riding full time.  There has got to be something he can do!

After shoveling, I quenched my thirst with a doppelbock that weighed in at 10%... not something I should have gulped down...

Ahh the date with the urologist wasn't as romantic as I had hoped... I had to schedule another appointment so they could take a look at my "flow pattern..." Not what I wanted to hear... On the other hand, it could be a lot worse...  I have another test coming up in a few weeks.  Might need to drink heavily before it.... Hope this crap goes away

Hey all. That sounds like a tough urology apt.Was in East Texas this weekend. No running no biking out there. I did do a lot of wood chopping and hit the trainer for two hours tonight when I got home.I'm hoping this is the week to start running again. I hope the IT band holds up.

You must have a pile of wood the size of a house  I chopped a small amount when I was a kid and found a new respect for anyone that does it, damn it's hard.

IDK what happened with me, except that I hit a rough patch, and life took away my desire to train.  Hoping I'm through the worst of it.  Heading out for a jog right now, hoping it turns into a run.

Well folks, it was bound to happen...we hit a rough patch on the BDAS group. With no races in sight, it is sometimes tough to stay committed! Luckily we are all at different stages so when some falter, others can pick up the slack. Time to get back on track. Sign up for a race ASAP. Time to make a commitment to a Try a tri, sprint, oly, HIM, IM. Get it done and get training.

Our group seems to have shrunk....who is still in?

im still here!

pretty busy weekend here. got up and hit a killer spinning class on saturday morning. I mentioned it before its this 8 week training course with hills and tapering that my local ymca just started doing.  they also have a tri-club and a few running clubs.  Ive really thought about joining the tri-club but with the baby coming in 7weeks Im not sure I can make that committment.  Saturday afternoon was the baby shower so I did a lot of heavy lifting, followed by assembly.  Planned on the gym yesterday but that was a bust. I didnt hit all my goals last week, (4mi run especially).  I really didnt get much running in at all. But I did exercise everyday.

This week Im pretty positive  I can attain all my goals and more. My boss is on vacation so I can work from home all week. which will save me an 1hr driving to and from work and also doesnt mean I need to walk the dog at 430am to get to the gym on time.

  • Mon- Spin
  • Tues- Run and Swim
  • Wed- Spin and Strength Train (need to add this in at some point)
  • Thur- Run and Swim
  • Fri- Run and Strength Train
  • Sat- Spin
  • Sun-Rest or do a fun sport (racquetball, basketball etc)

Hey everyone...grind it out like the rest of you.  I blew off some of my training which is not cool at all.  But I did get a nice hilly run in yesterday with some friend..that was waaaaaay cool.  Brought my gear to work with me so I should have another run in this afternoon.  My shoulder is still hurting, did I mention that? Anyway its from yoga and then irritated it more during the swim on Saturday.

Ok guys lets get this done!

For me this week:

Keep drinking the lemon water to help with the GI issues

If I have a swim I cannot make do a p90x yoga

Study and ace my exam on Thursday

Enjoy the week!
