Good to know.  I'll do my "soaking" in the lake tomorrow then   Just a few hundred meters to test out the suit pre-race.

I'm a big fan of git-r-done!!!  I actually haven't heard it in a while.  But since my last name is Dunn, I tend to get it fairly often.

Trin2bfast - 2009-05-29 3:26 PM
KelliD - 2009-05-29 2:04 PM If I was to do an OWS tomorrow afternoon, do you think my wetsuit would be dry by Sunday morning???

I read an article a few weeks back that recommended you soak your wetsuit the night before a race...15-20 minutes.  Helps with the neoprene...buoyancy...flexibility...something like that.  Anyways... The OWS might be good for that.  It will likely be dry as the suit dries out in a few hours.  Hang it up inside out and let it and you should be good.

Stoked for ya!  Get-r-done! (lil' redneck southernly love fer ya!

Thanks for all the well wishes!!!  I'll post a RR sometime later today.  But, for now.....the race yesterday was awesome, I'm really happy with how I did & I had heaps of fun!!!  I've done other events that this group has put on, and they're really great and really organized!  The lake was seriously disgusting!!  I'd rather go in the Hudson any day than back in this lake.

Woooo!  Nice job kelli!  You smoked that run!

Icky swims suck.  I did a race few years back where the lake butted up against a power plant.  The water smelled like diesel fuel and death.  THAT was fun.

Great job Kelli!  You Got-r-dunn!  Yucky water is no fun at all... but a 1:42 per/100 pace is very impressive in my book.  I have done that in training, but have yet to post that kind of swim in a race...

How was the wetsuit?  I love mine, and wish there were more races in it around here.  The 70.3 at the end of this month and IMFL are both wetsuit legal, so I am happy about that.

Haha...I think so!! Before the start my friend went in for a warm up and when she came out she had a lovely layer of dirt (hopefully that's all it was) on her face & arms.  At one point in the swim I took a mouthful (thanks for the dude that pulled me under, although not on purpose)....and I remember thinking "OMG, OMG spit it out, spit it out or you're gonna get sick".

I defintely need more time to get used to it.  No probs getting it on or off, and I think I felt faster swimming in it....I like how floaty it makes me feel.  But it felt constricting around my neck as I really got going.  Not too much so that it was choking me.  I know this is how it's supposed to feel.  But it got me into a bit of panic that lasted a good part of the swim....at least the last few hundred yards all I could was how I wanted it off me.  I know I just need more time in it though, and the more I swim with it I'll relax more.

Also, RR is up

WOHO! Congrats! That's really exciting!

Some advice I wish I was told on my first house... don't get emotionally attached to a home you'll end up paying too much and you make money buying a house not selling one so negotiate well!

We will SO have a housewarming party, Florida style.  (which basically means injecting every piece of fruit we can find with alcohol.  good stuff people)

You are all, of course, invited.

Actually, we're thinking about doing it in the fall... maybe around the HIM world championships (which are over in Clearwater.)  Since we will have a guest bedroom by that point, if anyone wants to come for the race and needs a place to crash, just ask.    But since I have an aversion to children, you would need to leave those at home.

Happy Frickin' Tuesday Peeps!

I love me some Tuesdays!!!  I had a great swim today... or at least I felt great during my swim ~ like I could have swam 5000m!  I don't get how I got out of bed this morning on roughly 4 1/2 hours of sleep and had no problems heading to the pool... but yesterday on 7 hours of sleep... I was near death crawling out of the rack!  I don't get it sometimes!

The BSLT chatter about how frickin' hard it is, is starting to mess with my mind... I am trying not to think about how I really have not prepared the way I know I should have (at least for the bike) and it's coming down to crunch time.  It's gonna hurt....   please, someone hold me and tell me it's gonna be alright!      Here Todd, here's my man card!  lmao!   I know, I know... Suck It Up Buttercup!  Before someone else says it... Wanna lil' cheese with that whine!

Here's the thing, it's a HIM....it's not supposed to be easy.  Plus, if it was easy it wouldn't be as much fun and you wouldn't appreciate it as much   Don't let other people psyche you out {as I remind myself to heed my own advice}.  Also keep in mind that a "hard course" can mean different thing for different people....at my race this past weekend I overheard a few people talking about what a killer the hills on the bike course were...sure, there were 1 or 2 biggish hills and a lot of rollers, but compared to the race a couple weeks ago this bike was a walk in the park.  Here's what you're gonna do....don't listen to other people freak out or fall on the freak out bandwagon, no good will come of it!  There's a good chance it's gonna hurt at some point during the race, and when it does you're gonna HTFU, push through the pain, kick some BSLT a$$ and enjoy an awesome finish.

p.s.  I might need to be reminded of this in a couple months when I start freaking out

You're going to be fine man, now give yourself a hug from me haha.

Of course it's going to be hard it's a HIM! Seriously though be honest with yourself and pick a bike pace that is comfortable so you can come off and run.  It's not worth it to push 0.5-1mph faster on the bike just to forced to walk most of the 13.1. You can use your Garmin/HR monitor to pace yourself and make sure you're not pushing that bike too hard. You got this!
