Is it best to stay near the start or the finish?  They are about 3-4 miles apart from each other.

always stay closer to the finish, though they are not far apart.  i'll PM you tomorrow when i know i'm in.  

We will likely drive down friday night and stay through Tuesday so we can sight see monday and tuesday... nothing like lots of walking with little kids for the 2 days after running a marathon: rascal here i come! 

I booked at the Residence Inn by Marriot in Arlington.  It is very close to the War Memorial, which is close to the start/finish.  I would book now, because they will sell out tomorrow when people get in. Last year, I got in the race right away, then couldn't find a hotel (at least not one that was listed). The Residence Inn is not one of their booked hotels, but is alot closer than then ones listed.  You can always cancel without penalty.

Be on registration right away, I think MCM sold out last year in less then 24-48 hours.

And since we are on the subject, what is with all the lottery races in the fall?  So if you apply for lottery and don't get in, then you have to figure out something else to do with you time since most other races at that time will be sold out????

Also went for a massage last night.  I think I have bruising on my back today from the pressure.  I'm such a mess!

Bruising on your back?!  That must have been some massage.  

I found your blog post to be interesting.  That's so weird that the swim course becomes narrow like that.  It is cool that bystanders can walk along the side, but yikes!  Will things have thinned out by that point?  Also, the run paths look crazy narrow, too.  Not quite sure how the logistics of that work out.  Hopefully you won't have to dodge around people and waste energy.  Bike course looks decent.  

Up for yet another trainer ride this morning.  I'm really starting to miss running!  

We find out the price our house goes up for tonight.  Husband and I have bets.  I hope it's a good number!  We bought it in 2006, when houses were overpriced.  We know we will have to take a loss.  We just want to know how big a loss....

I know; right?!!!  I should show him some pictures of what he would have worn had he been on the team in my day.  LOL

AND, have everyone given up on the weight loss challenge, or super, super busy this week????  Come on people, race season is almost upon us, we all need to get moving and get the extra lbs off.

MCM registration starts at 3 PM eastern time.  You have a stress fracture: no.

Salt pills are not really a stick of salt you suck on they are pills with high concentrations of sodium, potassium and magnesium.  You use them as an electrolyte supplement.

I had pictured a ball of salt in my head.  Sounded gross.  Do you take it instead of consuming sports drink or nuun/endurolytes?

Yeah - i knew you were thinking that a salt pill was the sort of thing an elk would be looking for... Endurolytes are just a brand of salt pill.  You can use them in lieu of and/or in addition to other electrolyte forms.  Really a "salt pill" is just short hand of saying a super concentrated electrolyte blob in pill form.  Here are the ingredients for Thermotab:

Serving Size: 1 tablet 
Servings Per Container: 100 
Amount Per Serving %DV 
Sodium (as Sodium chloride) 180mg 8% 
Potassium (as Potassium chloride) 15mg <1%

I have issues with magnesium.  So use a separate magnesium supplement in addition to Endurolytes.  But I am a very heavy sweater and a much bigger person than you.  On a hot day i can lose 10 pounds.   I also use Gatorade Performance and Powerbar Gels because they have much higher levels of salt that other drinks and Gatorade is what is found on most courses (other than WTC events but IM Perform and Gatorade are pretty much the same anyhow) .
