Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good luck to everyone racing this weekend! Just finished my LT test on the bike, total of an hour. I did on the trainer because it called for a flat course(or trainer), which there is none around here. Followed by brick run of 20 mins. Suppose to do 1700 in the pool, mainly drills but I don't see that happening with soccer and my oldest son's birthday party today. I now have a teenager in my house... |

This coming week's plan in minutes. Sun swim 40 SAT: RACE! Weather projection is 75 and cloudy. I hope it stays that way. The days after that are projected to move into the 90's so slllllllooooooowwwwwwwww down weather patterns. |

I'm off from work Friday so I'll pick up my race bib early and post it here so it makes it easier. I might stop by Rudy's Fireside get together as well but probably won't hang out too long since I'm commuting down 45 minutes in the morning. |

i'm not gonna get my hopes up about the weather, this weekend was supposed to be amazing with a small chance of shower last night, it rained half of yesterday and so far i am not impressed with this morning either.
but i would love cloudy and cool, no doubt. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Back from LP early. Swam Friday night before the storm. Headed out Saturday morning got 13.1 miles into the ride headed down the Keene descent and and had a front wheel blow out at 30 mph. After a huge wreck I visited the LP ER and ended up with 9 stitches in my hand, alot of road rash and a severely brusied hip. No swimming for a week the doctor said. I as able to do 1 hr on the trainer after the crash just to keep my hip moblie. Taking today off and hopefully will be back at something tomorrow. What was funny is the crash was not my fault a flat is a flat but at 30 mph on the front wheel there was no saving it. A EN Camp member came by saw the police and ambulance and I heard him say "That will sure make you slow down!" I was riding the shoulder as I was supposed to be and had on Specialized Armadillo tires and still flated the roads are bad. Its to bad this happened by "God works all things for Good." If you are riding in LP the police are starting to ticket people if they are riding 2 and 3 abreast or in the middle of the rode. Triathletes are going us a bad name up there because they come in and think they rule the roads. Good luck training |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Raining today =( Long bike yesterday - first half with a friend training for Louisville, second half solo. It was a good but tough ride. Very hilly route, not much resting. Heading back home I had 3 options and choose the hardest hilliest option. My legs were not happy, but mentally it was good for me to know I didn't take the easy way back. Got a flat 2 miles from home. I called my husband to come get me, but knew I'd kick myself for not finishing, so I changed the flat and rode it in. All by myself! =) |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey there everyone ... I know I have been out of touch for the last month and I wanted to apologize to everyone. Long story short, I have been out of work for several months and the hunt is hard and frustrating. To add to that stress, I finally got real with myself last weekend and it was determined that I have a stress fracture in the 4th metatarsal of my right foot. What most don't know (actually pretty much everyone until about a week ago, although Kelly knew something was going on early May) was that I have been running on this stress fracture since last November. How you say? Very painfully. I never really hurt when I run, but was horribly painful right after and for the rest of the day. Why did I continue? I was performing very well since I started working with Kelly and didn't want to derail that. Stupid? Maybe, but I did have a really good first part of my season. I PR's every race I set out to PR, some with significant improvements ... yes, at a cost. What this means is I am not running for another 5-7 weeks, which since I am focusing on running, is very hard! I am frustrated about the injury itself, but also because I have races paid for, and especially since the Chicago Marathon is likely not going to happen. I will evaluate with Kelly in July and we will see what the rest of the year holds. So I wanted to let you all know what was going on. I am not normally a person that reaches out. I am pretty quiet about most everything and keep most things to myself. So this has been a very rough time. On a positive note ... I have been stalking the group and keeping up with everyone. So hope races went well this weekend (Scott more OW practice), Michelle I would've walked home, I saw a crash ... hoping for a quick recovery. |

The Keene descent can be tough. 30 mph is not "too fast" for that descent. Take the time to heal up. You've done lots of hard work and its better to take a few days or a week to heal than to try to push it and delay the healing process altogether. Sometimes the best training is rest. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I had a blast this weekend in MI. Finish time was 2:47 for a course that measured long in every discipline (was shooting for 2:45). 4th in AG. I followed my race plan 100%, and it paid off. I'm most proud of the swim (averaged 1:35/100, a first for me). I started to have a panic attack in my wetsuit, but I just focused on breathing, and then I pictured myself swimming in a pool. It seemed to do the trick. Bike course was ok. I should have pushed harder in the very beginning, and the headwinds got the best of me in the second half of the race. My first transition sucked again. It was about a .25 mile to get there, so the only thing I can think of is that I wasn't running hard enough. My run was decent for me (but sucks in the general sense, I guess). It was a hilly run, and I really tried to focus on keeping my feet under me instead of in front of me. It was HOT. 90+ degrees. Didn't bother me for a second, but the half people were struggling. Monster sunburn here on the face, shoulders, and back. It's still painful this morning. Things for me to work on: sighting in OW, more time in aero, and running, running, and more running (ew |
