GOOD MORNING GHOULIES!!!

I got 3 in last night, but I just couldn't find a rhythm at all. My pace was up and down, my heart rate was all over the place, it was just ugly.

It was probaby because I missed dinner at skrtrnr's house, I got stuck on the turnpike and just wasn't going to make it in time so I went home. Cry

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

A run is a run.  Nice job!  Hope the next one goes better!

kromanowski - 2009-10-06 9:34 AM Question of the Day: Does anyone else have a mental block when it comes to going beyond a certain distance?  And if you did and have pushed past it how did you do it?

Mine is the 6 mile mark...I am fine running 5 miles, 6 miles I have done once or twice and am reasonably ok but I (mentally) freak out when I think about doing anything more...I have never gone further than six.

GREAT question KATIE.

mine is 26.2.  ive been able to bring myself to contemplate running a full marathon.

last year i ran a half.  and finished w a smile on my face.

and considered what it would be like to 'have to' go another 13.1 miles.

i thought, naw, i dont think i would ever want to do that.

i will do a 1/2 IM before i do a full marathon.  theres just something not 'appealing' about that distance...for me.  (same with a full IM)

and ive decided that im not gonna 'push past it'.

if somewhere internally (for whatever the reason) ive decided a full marathon is not for me, then i figure why 'fight it'.

perhaps there will come a time when that'll change, and im completely open to that.

but for now...im content w trng for halfsies and contemplating a 1/2 IM.

stacieb

Sounds like my sentiments exactly! my brother is an IM...my daughter and niece will be racing in an IM in November...and I have no inkling to do one! very motivational for me to go bike and run...but not those absurdly long distances! not even in perfect conditions and flat course! hey, I too am considering a HIM! is there one half way in between us! what a hoot it would be to race with you! the mileage would zoom by! haha

Could you imagine the chatter from that 2-some on the HIM course?  Might get in trouble for drafting or using radios for communication on the ride

Kansas would work for you guys!

kansas? sounds doable....this is one state I have never visited. and I have lived in 40 of the 52 states! and no, Im not an army brat.

do we follow a yellow brick road??? and should I dress in red sparkly running shoes???

Did somebody say Kansas?  I may be doing that one next summer.  I am waiting to hear back on a possibly scheduling conflict.

hey if we all go to Kansas,

we can each dress up as a character from the WoO.

one thing....I GET THE FLYING MONKEY COSTUME!!!!!

[seriously.  theres a HIM in KANSAS?]

TOTO, I HAVE A FEELING WERE NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE.

woke up to wind.  started at 3:45 and was NON-STOP.

we have this really big-azz tree right outside our bedroom window.  we've had windy conditions before, i always worry that the tree is gonna fall right through the window.

wind=anxiety=fitful nights sleep.

but....at least the tree didnt fall.  whew!

heading indoors today, no need to risk getting blown off my bike/the road.

4x800 intervals ON TAP.

yippy skippy.

RUN HAPPY and watch out for air-born projectiles.

I woke up to wind this morning, too. I'm not sure what time it started but it may explain why I didn't sleep well last night. I want to swim tonight so I'm planning on just running on the treadmill while I'm at the Y. I don't want to blow away, that would hurt the team statistics for the month.

kimk - 2009-10-04 5:34 AM Hope all those racing right now are doing good!!! Remember to smile!

smiled, danced, smiled more, sang a few songs (sorry to those around me!), made 3 porta potty stops, only walking I did were thru a few of the water stations. My daughter and I finished together hand in hand...both with BIG smiles!

awesome job!!!

thanks Kim! I was soooooooo nervous!

I must have gone to the portapotty at least three times before the race....in a 15 min time span! thank goodness they had LOTS of them! along the run I had to stop three times...dang were there some long lines too! there was one guy who had his garage door opena nd was allowing runners to use the garage bathroom....what a nice guy!

there were people passing out doughnut holes, BACON???!!?? , cookies, mimosas, one home had a keg of beer....plus there were the homes that had the kids set up in the street curb with thier drum sets/keyboards and guitars playing music (not really but goin thru the motions)...there was one home that had a big screen (must have been at least a 72" cuz it was monster size...he had a camera at the finish line....was fun to see the people finishing...but of course we were just wanting to be next to them then~~~

there was one bummer situation...a young girl (20's) on the side of the road...she was less then a mile from the finish...and they were doing cpr on her! 6 medics working frantically on her!!! very sad to think of the family waiting on her....and not having any idea that she was in such grave danger!!!!

When I did my first 10 miler I was standing in the bathroom line when they started the race! So I left the line and as I was running was like no way will I get through this without stopping! a couple was out cheering and had a hose for us to run through and I thanked them...they were like we love all you runners...I asked "enough to let one use your bathroom?" they let me in and I was soooo thankful!
Sorry to hear about the girl....is she ok?

Subject: RE: Show us your Ghoulies - Halloween Run Challenge
Good morning team!  I woke up this morning, very early, to the sound of - you guessed it - rain.  Although rain may be an understatement.  Deluge might be a better word.  And the roof that we fixed last year is leaking again, so it's raining in my bedroom too.

Off to do some food shopping, then hopping on the trainer and hopefully getting to the gym to start some strength training.  No yoga classes today (it's my day off) but I'm doing a chair yoga presentation at the senior citizen center this evening.  Hoping to get some new students, but if not at least I get a free dinner out of it.

Keep up the great work, team Show us your Ghoulies!
