Good morning everyone.  Hope our racers have a great day!

Race report done with link below. Satisfied with race. 2nd overall of 449 racers. Many of those racing were beginners or first timers since it was a super sprint. Most pleased with my run.

Dang, Randy - 2nd overall - no wonder the teams are knocking on your door.  Congrats!

(and yes, the Hoos, despite trying to give it away, managed to come up with the "W" yesterday.  Player of the game for us was the Penn State kicker, unfortunately.  Yep, was at the game as we have season tickets)

Intentional makes it even better, Mark - just totally describes my run segments!

I see the first swimmers in Michael's age group are starting to come out of the water.  Unfortunately, I've got to start running, so I'll miss his split, but will be back to track him on the bike/run.  Go Michael!!

Michael has been out of the swim for a while and is now on the bike.

Swim time:
2.4 mi 1:12:33

Ironman Tracking has been known for lagging a behind in posting updated splits. So don't worry if you don't see any updates on his tracking site for a while.

Looks like the start to a great race!!

That is a really nice pace for the first half of the bike. I hope he can keep this up and then lay down a fast run.

Michael, I'm rooting for you!

In other news:

1. Holy cow Randy. You are one fast dude and it looks like you are only getting faster.

2. This morning's run was fabulous. 52 degrees at the start and I may have never felt better running in my life. Easy. Smooth. Oh so satisfying. Bring on the cooler weather (of course I won't be saying that three months from now).

IM tracker is really behind today. Reports on TT forum under the IMMOO watching thread have more updated information. I have no doubt that Michael is out there crushing the course. All of his "secret" mountain training is paying off today!

Randy- no wonder they asked you to be on the tri team! Very nice work this year!

Mark- congratulations on the 9 minute PR. That is really impressive! What is next on your race calendar?

I'm finally recovering from being sick for 2 days with a horrible stomach virus. Was able to run a bit this morning with my college roommate who was in town.

We had a cold front come through- 68 this morning when we started running. It should be cool here for another day before our normal Texas heat shows back up. Amazing how nice it is to run when it is cooler. X2 Jason!

Michael is off the bike. 5:45 bike split. Total race time 7:05.  If he can keep it together on the run should be sub 11 hours.  Hope all those miles of training pay off on the run today.  Go Michael!!!!

If he can move up that many places again in the run, he'd be in great shape ;-)  First 10K on the run at around 8min pace.  Moved up another 6 places too.  WTG!!!!  Go Michael!!!!

Looks like Michael has hit a rough spot heading into the halfway point of the run. Lets hope things smooth out as he moves forward. I can only imagine how hard it is to keep pushing at this point of a race. Hang in there Michael!

No updates lately on Michael's progress. Someone is currently running the wrong way up the finishing chute. She just turned around 15 feet away from the finish.

Thanks Rene! I'm done with triathlons for this season. My next event is the Tour de Pink at the end of this month.

Rather than take a break I'm going to start training for the Spring now.  I think it will be good to train without a specific race in mind.

Some guy just did that "reach back, grab your ankle and pump" dance move over the finish line. Thirty seconds later another guy basically fell over the line into the arms of a medic. It amazes me how differently the race affects people and the decisions you made hours ago determine if you walk away or are carried.

Looks like Michael is in the last 4 mile stretch. Has picked up the pace since the midpoint of the run.  Looking like 11-11:15. Let's hope for a strong finish.

On another note....Rob/Wiky from here on BT was 16th overall and 2nd in the 40-44AG. One of the nicest, most supportive people here on BT. Crushed it today! Happy for him.
