Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() JoePetto - 2012-06-12 4:52 AM Updating for Sunday's race. My calf is still so sore/cramped that the only thing I could do would be the bike (but I'm not pushing it). - Jim:S 5/B 6/R5 / Rest Days 1: Total =16; 14:36':03" Protein and carbs (non heme) for recovery, lots of water and a massage if you have the time. No deep tissue though. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Short 10.75 mile ride. Was able to avg. 18.6 mph (including u-turns), 19 mph on the straightaways. Quite a contrast to me struggling to stay at 18 mph not long ago. Intervals are working (thanks Ernesto). Good training run (ride) for my race on Sunday, at which I will try to avg. 19 mph. - Jim:S 5/B 6/R5 / Rest Days 1: Total =16; 14:36':03" |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Climbinggonzo - 2012-06-12 1:01 AM Got my race report up! I'm at a campground just outside Yosemite with spotting internet service, no cell phone signal, but it's beautiful up here! Heading into the park tomorrow for a few days, hoping to get in some trail runs. No training today, just a bit sore from yesterday's race, my calfs are killing me. When I've got more time I'll get around to updating all my totals for the month. Wow! amazing race report - thanks for sharing! It's reassuring to know I am not the only person who whoops for joy during races :-) Mark. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() sirgab - 2012-06-12 12:35 AM A new Garmin 910XT firmware update was just released per DC Rainmaker http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2012/06/garmin-fr910xt-update-adds-tssifnp.html Gabe - thanks for the head's up, I had heard one was being released soon, watch is at home dowloading it right now. I ordered the quick release band for the watch so I can move between wrist and bike easier. Also got the fabric/velcro band hoping it would work with the quick release setup. On first glance I don't think it will work. Anyone try this setup? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() dangremond - 2012-06-12 12:48 PM I have the quick release kit and it is very comfortable, when you take the wristband and the actual watch apart it is very small and it fits very well under the swim cap for OWS, but I haven't tried that yet. In my last two races I opted for the wrist but I can see some inaccuracies when I look at the swim map. sirgab - 2012-06-12 12:35 AM A new Garmin 910XT firmware update was just released per DC Rainmaker http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2012/06/garmin-fr910xt-update-adds-tssifnp.html Gabe - thanks for the head's up, I had heard one was being released soon, watch is at home dowloading it right now. Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() could resist any longer - took the new bike on the recent tri course and even with winds and roadworks managed to avg 18.4 and complete in 43mins - was 15.2 and 53mins on the MTB. Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I need a Garmin consult (Chris?). Can anyone explain why the elevation and speed got so out of whack during my ride on Sunday - here's the file: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/188458021 . This course is pancake flat - literally - with a max elevation gain of no more than 10 feet. Yet, the reported numbers are just crazy.

![]() | ![]() "Joe" , First, edit your post to take out the period after the link to the Garmin file. Otherwise, hitting the link doesn't work (I got it to work by copying and pasting without the period). Second, disable "elevation corrections" in the lower left of the Garmin connect page. Something is wrong with their maps is my guess. If you disable elevation corrections, the data on elevation will come from your Garmin. Won't be perfect, but it will be better than what you have now. Me, 75 minute Master's swim class in morning (2900 yards today!). I will put down the usual 1 hour to account for wall time. Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good run this morning. 1:30’15” run at MAF, total of 7.5 mi.. Felt great. Not sure if it was because the weather was a little cooler or if my endurance is getting better. Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Next to no sleep last night so at 3am I turned off my alarm (set to 4:30 to make it to my masters swim). Scott woke 30minutes earlier than normal for his run so I decided to just get up and go for a run as well. Given my lack of sleep I was please with my run and actually felt good. Today: 33:04 2.5miles 13.14pace 148 (MAF +2) June 7 13:51 145 (MAF -1) Given the 1mile is downhill and then the remaining 1.5 is uphill, I'm pleased with my training. Until the middle of May my Avg HR was 153. And that was on a good day! The track time is paying off as well. Sunday's race is the one that I am doing with a goal of finishing. I could say I don't care about time but I would be lying. I know I had 2 months of almost no training I am keeping my goal at a realistic 2hours-2hours 10min. I am comfortable with the swim thanks to the masters class because my warm ups are practically the race distance and it is wet suit recommended! OWS is ok with me... Don't feel extra anxious about it at this point. The hill at the start of the bike is worrisome though. 3.8 miles uphill although gradual, I don't want to push to hard and them not be able to maintain my speed the next 13.5 miles. Hoping to average 14+mph. And so here's a random, non training question.... My bike is white and silver and the handle bar wraps are white. I've added clip on aero bars and need to tap them but unsure of the color to use. White shows all the dirt so not really wanting to go that route. I'm gonna have the handlebars re wrapped in whatever I get. Thought I'd ask you guys and gals... That way when I'm training or racing I can see the color and think of ya'll. |
