Sprint_DA - 2008-07-20 11:42 AM Morning TAN (or morning for the next few minutes) I hope, if it's as hot everywhere as it's going to get here today, that everybody's already put their workout in for the day. The forecast in my training log is calling for 94 degrees here...seems hot to me.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Morning Sprint. Haven't put in my workout yet, but it's recovery week so it'll be a short one. Have you been having the bad storms out there? (How was dinner?)

It rained a little bit last night, but not too bad.  I think it's supposed to storm again tonight, we'll see.  Dinner was fine, really low key just ate and chatted.  It was a nice break from wanting to go out to be around people.

Well, it's keeping that section of air duct nice and cool, maybe hang out there?  Hopefully it's not too hot out that way today.

Had the ac put in this week (window unit in kitchen).  I only use it for a few hours a day but it makes a big difference.  I was opening up the windows at night, but we're going through another stormy spell so that's not working out too well.

We've had multiple days with multiple inches.  They're calling for 1 or 2 tonight.  Glad to hear that dinner went well.

I take solace in lower electrical bill...

Actually VBS starts tonight so I am hanging out at church this afternoon getting ready for the onslaught.

I volunteered to help out with two different VBS's last year. yeah .. Haven't heard anything about either one this year, guessing they're 'no go's. I only went to VBS once when I was a child; however, 'Joy Trek' is still firmly implanted in my brain. Have fun tonight.

Nah.  We were just trying take a multi-generational photo and it took a while for everyone to get it together.  Apparently getting 5 generations of women to feel properly ready for the camera is no small feat.

Wow, 5 generations?  That's awesome! On my dad's side of the family we were able to get 3, luckily we got that taken when I was about 6.  On my mom's side, I think they got to 4 once...but it was back to 3 within a few months.  In our family you get one of three life spans: either not good for the long haul, meet people extremely late in life, or have really bad luck.

Perfect score on my motorcycle riding portion. Wooot! I'm not legally allowed to haul a passenger and ride at night.

The figure 8 was cake. However, myself... the 2 friends that went with me, and another guy are the only ones in the class that were able to do it.

Nice, congratulations. Did you take the test on your bike or their bike? I remember how nice it felt to be the only one in my MSF class that scored perfect on both the written and writing tests.

I also remember taking a friend's bike to the DMV in January through snow flurries just to watch him fail his written test. That was a lot of fun.

Did you enjoy the class?

ETA: I don't know if I could do a figure 8 on my bike, with the long wheelbase and that fact that it's top-heavy it might be tough.  Luckily that doesn't come up very often.

I haven't quite figured out my family's life spans, though they have been a number of 90+'s and a number of <60's since I was born.  We actually have 6 generations on my dad's side (but only 3 on my mom's), but my sister's kids are the only ones in gen. 6 and she's a bit well, let's just say that I don't expect to have any pictures with all 6 generations that include my sister or her kids.

We used their bikes. Suzuki GZ250's haha. They were hilarious.

I tried the figure 8 on my bike before the class started, it wasn't possible. My handlebars don't turn enough.

It was kinda funny how the old instructor dudes were kinda rude to us at the beginning because we were the young 'crotch rocket' guys that went a little too fast, etc. Then we were by far the best riders in the class. One of them came over and thanked us at the end for being a good example and helping people, cuz they were all asking us for tips.

We used old bikes in my class, I think my test was on an old 350.  I couldn't help but drag my toes in corners.  I also got in trouble for shifting during the one full-throttle straight area.  It's cool that you guys were able to help the newer riders out.  I know sometimes those classes can get full and people can be overlooked.  I also remember a bunch of people laying bikes down trying to do the tight circles and turns.  Never quite figured out how/why.

Working on cars is deceptively tiring. Much easier when you have a lift, for sure. I'd be doubly sore if I had to replace things lying under the car.

That said, she's *almost* tip-top for next Saturday's autocross.

Saturday evening I got to play with my friend's personal protection dogs that he trains (he works for Homeland Security, ex-Navy SEAL, etc). And by "play" I mean "put on a bite sleeve" and experience an 85-lbs American Bulldog hitting that sleeve at full speed. That bugger would NOT let go, even after I wrestled my arm out of the sleeve. It's still kind of sore from the hit.

Intimidatiing for sure. That dog is a BEAST. Good times, good times.

Errbody have a good weekend? Mine was pretty decent.
