chris2533 - 2011-11-22 10:27 AM Visited local bike shop yesterday and looked at their saddles. They are selling the ISM Adamo Road saddle for $140 + tax. They would install and do a quick fit for either free or $5. Can get from Amazon for less than $80, including shipping. Is it worth $60 for them to install it? What do you guys (and gals) do?

Hey Chris, if it was me, I would get it on Amazon for $60 less and install it myself.  I may be wrong, but I don't think installing and adjusting the seat is rocket science nor worth the added cost (although I do consider keeping the family jewels protected/comfortable Smile)

Separately, in case anyone is thinking of buying the Garmin 310XT, right now both REI and Amazon reduced the price to $289 + there is a $50 rebate from Garmin, dropping the final price to $239 (info per DC Rainmaker)

Ditto what Gabe said, installing a saddle is brain dead easy and is just trial and error, just ride it and move it around until you get it dialed in. Make sure that you move it back and forth and up and down at the nose, down being a much more agressive position for time trialing/triathlons but uncomfortable for any rides longer than 2 hours.

I've been going back and forth on which Garmin to buy - the 310xt or new 910xt...only real difference as I see it is the indoor swim capability...basically get a Swimsense watch on top of a garmin 310XT.  Am I missing anything?  I'm leaning towards the 910XT.

Also, if anyone is thinking of getting the 310XT and you have an REI near by - buy it there - their return policy is GOLDEN.

To all the gang members doing a race (Turkey Trot or whatever), remember that tomorrow YOU CAN TAKE A DAY OFF, and still get the credit for it. The same applies to the day after, the only two conditions are that the race has to be longer than 5K and you don't get "free minutes" to your total hours, just race time applied as training time.

I'm taking a day off myself tomorrow, on Thursday I'm running the Turkey Trot in Dallas. The race is 8 miles.

Mark, since you're traveling on the 30th, you can find a race on the 29th longer than 5K and get the race credit. Australians probably race every day of the week Laughing, maybe Tuesday there's some sort of race you can be a part of.

So...I'm following ernesto's lead and taking my pre-race day off.  Thought about swimming but decided I could use the day of rest before the race - i am hoping to PR the race through incrementally better fitness and hopefully materially better race strategy!

Happy Thanksgiving in advance to all of the group!

Bike trainer ride 45:01. May swim later, but not likely, so will post to get my five minutes at the top before Mark and Gabe get in.

10k tomorrow morning. Will hopefully spend less time doing that than my bike ride today. We will see.

Mitch, I'm exactly in the same boat, trying to decide between the 2 Garmins and its a matter of either getting a decent deal right now on the 310XT or deciding its worth spending more for the 910XT and its improved swim tracking capabilities.  Have you seen the 910XT review on www.dcrainmaker.com yet and do you know when it is finally being released?

Hola Chris, sorry about my update (by just 14 seconds), but here is a hint, if you swim tonight you go to the top again (depending on what Mark does) because for the next two nights I have to go to my 6 year old ballet recital and cannot get any night workouts in!  Best of luck in your 10K and kick some butt!

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and good luck with your races/turkey trots tomorrow!

I have already ordered it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0069SCEOW/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_deta...
Should ship today and I should get it sometime next week. I hope my private parts can make it until then!

As for working out at nights --- tonight I will probably be cooking and tomorrow evening I will be in what my wife and I call a food coma.

I've read DC Rainmakers review probably a half dozen times...LOL.  The watch was supposed to be available yesterday but I keep seeing chatter on the internet that its been pushed back.  Looks like incredible demand for the new capabilities.  It looks like it is the last fitness watch you would need.  I plan to pair it with the footpod and the bike sensor....data overload!

Regarding DC Rainmaker - Ernesto - if you haven't taken the computrainer plunge yet DC Rainmaker is preparing a review on the latest TACX trainer and software.  he had been a big advocate of computrainer but is stating that the latest iteration from TACX is going to be miles ahead of computrainer.

For those who don't know, dcrainmaker.com is the best source for IN DEPTH reviews of all things electronic and fitness related.  he is a runner, cyclist, triathlete who writes the best reviews on the planet for the various watches/gadgets.

By the way, I think we should all understand how this is going to end. Ernesto is going to hang back and be hours behind, but still exercise every day, and then on the last day do a 16 hour bike ride.

I really feel that we ALL won in this challenge, and this is not cheap rhetoric. I got back in a routine and got some level of fitness back after being very inconsistent since IM Texas. And for all of you, I believe everybody has discovered new things starting from this "frequency" thing.
