I really want to go swimming right now. I'm pretty slow yet, but I really love it.

I guess that's the thing about triathlon for me; even though I'm very slow, I truly love all three of the disciplines.

I have 41 minutes to go to hit my running goal this month. I should hit that Tuesday night but if not then I will definitely get in one more to reach the goal.

It feels like they turned the heat on a little bit in here. My fingers aren't freezing.

Offthegrid - 2008-10-23 8:42 AM I asked my parents if they would come to see me if I did an Ironman race in the future that wasn't too far away. My mom said: "Why would we want to go to a race? What would there be for us to do there all day but stand around?" So I guess I'll never have a cheering section like other families. It makes me really sad.

I'll come cheer for you Susie...You live close to me!  <img align='middle' src='https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/smile.gif'>

Yeah, I kept meaning to ask ya' -- are you doing any PA races next year? I was thinking of trying Steelman. It'd be my first Oly. I heard the bike was hilly but the run was pretty flat. A friend and I also plan to go up to Lake Placid to spectate and volunteer. She plans to sign up for 2010.

A friend of mine did Steelman 2 years ago.  She loved it.  The bike course was very hilly!  At the moment, I only have runs planned for next year.  I am definitely running the Lehigh Valley 1/2 marathon in May.  Come join me!  It's a fabulous race!  I plan to register next week.  The price goes up after 11/1.

OMG, that's the half I was planning to do anyway!!!

I just registered for the Lehigh Valley 1/2 marathon...it is my PR for a 1/2 marathon at 1:58(2008)....I hope I can beat it...beautiful course!....register soon...it sells out!

Bummer that it sells out!  I'll have to check with my aunt and uncle to see if they will be in town that weekend.  If so, I can stay with them and run the race.  I looked it up and it looks like a good one!  I've been looking for another half marathon and I like the date of this one.

Gotta get motivated today.  Not feeling like running at all!  Hubby pulls back into port today!  Yay!  Hasn't been gone all that long (like a month) but a lot has happened.  I'm ready for him to be back.

On the Operation Help Cole front, I have to call the audiologist again to try to schedule his appointment.  Hope they are in the office!  Gonna give the pediatrition another day before I call them.  School meets this week but I guess it is just an informal meeting and I am not invited. Not sure how I feel about that....

We have room for folks to stay, but really only one or two people ... and you have to like crazy, unruly Labrador retrievers.

I have heard the race sells out by late December/early January.

Get on the school system's website and download a copy of the Parents' Rights and Responsibilities.  Then invite yourself to the meeting.  There should be nothing discussed for which you can't be present.

Edited 'cause when I reread that, it sounded awfully abrupt... it just bothers me that they told you not to come to a meeting in which a group of teachers will be discussing your child's progress, strengths and challenges.  Any meeting they have will require that notes be taken and those notes will be placed in his file, so "informal" is a relative term.

FWIW, if I were the administrator of the school I'd be thrilled to have such an involved and concerned parent who could potentially provide my team of teachers with valuable insight about Cole's history and what sort of things he responds well to at home, what successes and challenges he has outside of school hours, etc.

That is kind of what I thought too.  Glad to hear someone else say it!  I have spent a lot of time on the school district website looking for anything useful and have found nothing.  I almost hate to send yet another e-mail to the teach requesting the time/date of the meeting.  I am starting to feel like I am stalking/annoying her!  I have sent three e-mails already today.  Granted two were replies but still!  That being said, I'll do whatever I have to do in order to get my kid the services he needs.

Got the audiology appointment for next week.  Soonest we could get in.   Really wanted this week but oh well.  I'll just have to wait!

Didn't get my run on today.   Hubby came home at noon and I didn't make it out the door.  I'll make up for it tomorrow except it will have to be on the treadmill since it is supposed to be in the 40s and raining.   Shoot!

x2 your kids education should not be a secret at all. You should do what ever it takes to make sure you know what is going on with your sons education, especially when it comes to meetings and/or evaluations of him. I just can't believe that they would have a meeting and not want to invite you.

oooh...you should come and do it....then we would have 3 of us doing the race!  I love this race....it is always fabulous weather....the course is beautiful and the size of the race is perfect.  They gave a windbreaker last year.  I wear it all the time.  I was so excited last year to break 2hrs (1:58) in this race!  Did I convince you yet?
