I had another run yesterday, and I'm attempting my first bike ride tomorrow, in preparation for next month's TdF challenge.

Good luck and don't do too much the first ride!!

Well bugs...I ended up finishing the month under my goal.  I really did make my goal a bit too high - so that I could figure out a good way to make my birthday = my goal, aka 6.22 hours.  Even though last month I had only run 2.75 hours!  ugh!

You did more than your previous month and hopefully will continue to do better so don't be so hard on yourself! Good job!

OK, finished my running yesterday.

Am now trying to figure out my goals for tDF.  I'm traveling almost every week the month of July and will only have weekends to bike.  must not complain about job.  repeat.

Way to go!!

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it; I'm going to ride to work tomorrow morning. It's kind of hilly, but only about 4.5 miles - and the hills on the way TO work are mostly down Wink.

We're actually considering moving soon, so I'm trying to decide if riding to work will still be feasible after that. We've already picked out a location. The good news is that the ride would be completely flat, both ways, but the bad news is it's approximately 20 miles... I'd have a few months to build up to that, so we'll see how it goes.

I learned I need to do a better job of stretching my hamstrings :-D  :-(

How'd I miss this question?!

Specific to running, I learned that it's ok to not know how far you ran. It doesn't matter if I can't run a mile in ten minutes (or 12, or 13, or...) and it's ok not to have any idea how far I am running. I just need to do it.

Training in general, I learned that I do a much better job when I take some time at the beginning of a week to plan out when I'm going to run, and how long. Not even following an 'official' schedule, just making up my own and then specifically allocating time for getting it done.

I just started commuting (home) a few times a week - it is only 10 miles but I LOVE it. I can't commute TO work b/c I don't have shower facilities and I am a big-time "sweat monster".
