Last year I carried over 10 which is the max carry over allowed. Add on 5 personal days and we're talking like 2 months. That said its not that easy to take them...

When I started working in the UK I was stunned to get 25 days vacation (not including sick days - we actually didn't have a max number of sick days per year, if you were sick you just called in), and now that I'm back in North America, it's a bit of a shock to be offered only 14.

Working for the State of WI I've accumulated almost close to 1900 hours of sick leave (almost 19 years total). It's a perk, but I very rarely take a sick day unless: 1). I'm really that bad off. 2). One of the kiddos is sick.

Ha!  You sound like my dad - I don't remember him taking a sick day in his life except for when he was a referee in the CFL and got tackled accidentally and ended up with a few broken ribs.   Other than that - his sick time just accumulated and the year that he retired the school board implemented not paying out accrued sick time.  He had something ridiculous like 12 years of sick time in the bank.

Good, honest man there! Effin' school board effed up the working man once again. Management and politics don't understand.

So as a young, healthy 37 year old lady who respects and protects my health very cautiously.  I seem to be in a health slump and can't seem to stay healthly.

I woke up on Sunday morning with a neck pain, throat pain and a pain in my BEWB.  Yup I said it!  After a few test and more testing next week, the girlie stuff, they have diagnosed me with Zosters (aka) shingles.  It is awful and I want to not deal with it at all.  My left bewb is a full cup size bigger....not good MEN/untouchable!

I was RIDICULOUSLY healthy while married.  Was it becasue I did not make out with dirty boys?  Or is it the stress of a different life?

The back explainable in certain ways......hard on my bod there for awhile. IS it just getting older????

Shingles? That's due to having chicken pox as a kid, yes? Sorry, Cheri.

Bummer. I think it does get tougher as we get older - I find any issues I have seem to come in batches. Almost like if something takes hold your ability to fight off other stuff is reduced more quickly than when you're younger. And stress sucks too - that's why I refuse to entertain it.

Having chicken pox as a kid means that you have the necessary virus for shingles.  I had chicken pox twice as a kid (yep, I'm that lucky) so I figure it's only a matter of time til I get shingles too.

Sorry to hear this Cheri, I know it's not fun and quite painful.

Shingles, yes same virus or sister virus of Chicken pox.  It usually effects a much older population of people.

They gave me Valtrex.  Which at the pharma counter the girl assumed I had genital herpes, cause she told me to insert the pill.  I was like WHHHHATTTT!!!!!!!  She said OH....then you just take it 3X a day.

Pharma friends - same pill for "there" and oral?  Seems strange!

I think it's age too.

There used to be a REASON things hurt or got injured.  Now they just seem to happen...

I love it so far BUT, I'm only 10% done of the series.  I can see it getting old.  I'm not sure how far I'm through the first book.  That's one thing that's weird about the kindle.  You really don't know what page you are on.  And the GoT came as a series, so I don't know where I am other than location 8345 out of 84000 or so.  Whatever that means.

you definitely take the pill for genital herpes by mouth, not by vagina.  where would a dude put it?  they take the same one!

i think dan brown is a terrible author, but every once in a while we all love a bad book or two (shopaholic or anything by candace bushnell or emily griffin, i admit it)

This is not the usual vaginal insertion conversations normally associated with TAN.

Oh yeah... I put him with Dean Koontz vs Stephen King...

I sort of said Dean Koontz is the poor man's Stephen King.  His writing seems to be simpler and less effort.  But sometimes a simple read is fun when the story is decent.

There defiantly is a market for the trashy novel!

Hi TAN,

Feeling better.  Smile

Another rainy, cold, non-sunny baseball weekend for me.  Kids just can't seem to win!

A week of construction happening in the lab and offices all week.  On a whole the company should be very unproductive.
