We're going to need a new thread for summer!

I would LOVE to do another HM or 100, but with the pain in my heel I just can't run, it is very frustrating. I miss running, I really do. I think about running all of the time. I do not love having pain in my foot.

Good morning Ghoulies.

I am in the office today.  Was supposed to be a leave day, but with the other two managers out sick and the Head of Division at a conference she asked me to come in today.  

Ann- enjoy your day with Caleb.  I agree with Robin, choose some smaller races and work your way up to the marathon.  

Robin - you'll do great on the ride/race tomorrow.  Steady even pace, of course that is hard to do in the mountains of NC.

Dee - enjoy your weekend.  

So when Caleb and I were out shopping I may have purchased 7 pairs of socks... but only 5 of them are for me.

Took the boy to a running store. The owner was working, he was great with Caleb. Got the by all set up with a new pair of running shoes, and some new inserts. He has a lot of miles to put on this summer to get ready for soccer. Way better service than we'd have gotten anywhere else!

Had a great weekend with the grandkids visiting again.  They are going to come back July 4th weekend.  Woot!  That means they will be shooting off fireworks in the  cul-de-sac. 

Hope the inserts help.  I still swear by MFDT .  If you can find someone who does this technique you will be amazed.

I am heading out to work in the yard. I am already late but we stayed out late last night visiting friends.

It is great you are getting lots of grandkid time in, Kendra!

Looks like running is out for me for a while.  My knee is acting up big time.  Walking seems to not aggravate it as much.  I got in a 15 minute walk last night along with 75 minutes of strength training, then went and played tennis (with a knee brace on) for 90 minutes.  I think I got my exercise in yesterday.

My ride was good. I only did 22 miles. My friend was DONE and I stopped with her. The weather was PERFECT and I was feeling pretty darn good and could have finished the whole distance. Next time, if I do that ride again, I'll do the whole thing. My Mom and Jim came down and met us at the final farm stop and we all ended up going to lunch in downtown Greenville. They have done such a great rehab of greenville, it is a nice downtown with tons of restaraunts, shops and a fabulous river park. Google it.

There was a tragedy, though. A man had a heart attack and died. He fell out just before I got to the spot and they were working on him. He got to the hospital okay, but passed away later that night. It was just one of those crappy things that happen.

Last night Caleb had his first soccer workout for the school team. The soccer field is a bit of a walk from the school. The coaches can drive down, the players have to walk. The path is stoned, but there is tall grass on both sides, and some places down the middle. I walked down and watched for a little bit. After walking down and back I picked a tick off of my arm, and one off my leg. When I was going to get in the shower last night I noticed I had a tick already attached to my side. YIKES!
I told Caleb to check himself good to make sure he didn't have any. I'll be spring him with a bug spray that includes tick repellent from now on.

I also realized I cannot run. I can't do it. Yes, I got new arch supports, but I have to take care of the existing problem. I need to let the fascia heel before I make it worse. I had surgery on the other foot, I don't want to do that again. I iced and elevated last night.

I could ride it with you next year, but that would guarantee the temp to be 103 with a million percent humidity.

Sad when tragedies like that happen.

ticks are EVIL!!!

Definitely heal that foot up. Then you can start a run/walk program and get back into it. Take you time.

By the end of the ride, the temp was about 90 and, as always in the South, the humidity was 100 percent. Come on and ride.

I am off to Midland or Midway or some such place to go to a chrome plating operation. I HATE platers. I always feel contaminated just walking in them. (Acids and cyanide do NOT mix.. along with all the heavy metals). I had to look the town up, I had no idea where it was. I have never been there before and I suspect that there is a good reason for it. It is next to nowhere, south of nowhere, east of.. nowhere and north of absolutely nowhere. I can't think of much more fun on a 90+ degree day. At least it isn't a landfill. I get to go to all the great places
