It's another lovely day in Mississippi, so lovely that I am already having to swith to 'no running during mid-day' routine. Today it will be 79* and sunny. It gets hot fast here and although I love warm weather I am not a fan of running iin it. Must be my Yankee blood! I have a friend, he loves running during mid-day even when it's 95*. Does anyone else like to do that? I am not a fan - those are the days I push for early morning or late day runs. But sometimes I have to. Drink fluids. |

In fact, when I get overheated, I pass out. Nice, huh? I usually know when it's coming so I can prevent it but every now and then, I don't feel in and...TIMBER! I do enjoy a nice early morning run, before sunrise. It's warm and quiet. Ahhhhh, sounds so nice right about now! I won't get any of those runs in this summer since B will be deployed. It will be 9:00 bike/runs for me when the kiddos are in day camp. Lots of water will be guzzled. |

Lots of water will be guzzled. Those pre-sunrise runs are some of my favorite memories of summer. It does mean getting up way early, but that is par for the course if you don't want to pass out. Last year I had a situation that kept me from getting out early on some days, and like you I had to do the 9 Am thing (by us it's 85* by that time) I discovered that around my neighborhood some folks had their lawn sprinklers on timers for early morning. I developed the "Sprinkler Run", which saved my a$$ on a few hot mornings! |

Had PT this morning, so I got my peach in for the day. Going to try to bike after work, too. oooohhhh.... bike outside???? Not entirely sure. I might be lazy and do it on the trainer. I think I need to change my tires before I ride outside. |

The term Brick comes from the combination of BIKE, RUN, and ICK!! Hence BRICK.
Todays lesson has been brought to you by the letter J. *thanks Elmo*

ERICA. i can relate. i dont pass out, but i do get dizzy/lightheaded in the heat AND nauseated as all get out hydrating well helps, but isnt the 'cure' ive learned since that ingesting salt/salt caps helps a lot, but not 100% its just how my body responds to heat when i ran my half marathon last August, 90% humidity, it took everything in me NOT to wretch at the end. i REFUSED to barf in front of people. its a thing w me. me, heat, we dont mix thats why in the summer, even its sunny/nice out, i sometimes elect to run inside instead. im a climate-controlled kinda of gal |

AWFUL... the TERROR of just the thought of barfing in front of people and making an absolute mess of myself and the seat and the person next to me was enough to keep from actually hurling, BUT....just barely. then i took pepto bismal tablets every 4-6 hrs for like 3-4 days afterwards. my legs felt fine, it was my stomach that was WRECKED.
