It not going to be a ton of time. The issue going super deep with IMLP is the Keene descent. If there are cross winds on the descent (which there were last year) its tough to control the wheels (especially if you haven't ridden on them a lot). There were several nasty crashes last year. I would stick with the 404/808. |

Also the best way to keep your legs fresh for the run is to pace the bike, not over do the hills |

I have my half mary tomorrow in Moab. I have not been very consistant with any running training so we will see. FInishing is the goal right now-under 3 hours would be fab. Hopefully the storm they have been predicting will hold off until Sun so we are not blown away or runnning in snow. |

I am off to NYC this weekend for the NYC HM. Should be very interesting tomorrow with the St. Patricks Day parade going on in the middle of the city! I am a bummed because my training partner got injured this week and she has asked me to stay with her for the run - I SOOOO wanted to run my own race, but I guess I just get to experience it this year. I was in a no win situation....my mom says to just lose her in the crowds!!!LOL |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED I'm also interested in the advantages of a disc rear. I rented Zipp 404's for Louisville & Madison (Race Day Wheels was on sight, they were awesome, it was easy). Vineman is much smaller, so no race wheel company to rent from I'm debating renting from them anyway and having them ship them to be before. Or a training buddy thinks I'd be just as fast buying a disc cover to put on my existing rear wheel. My wheels suck! So, do I rent a 404/808 combo? Or, buy a cover to put on my rear? What to do, what to do... And speaking of wheels - what's an affordable decent set of wheels that I can swap out mine for? I've been reading the threads lately, and can't decide if I should get new wheels. My bike came with Shimano R500's. They are ok, but not great. Thoughts? Edited by karen26.2 2012-03-16 8:33 PM |

It is weighing heavily on me and I sort of resent her asking/insisting that I stay with her. She knows I am very competetive and when that gun goes off, I often can't help but run. Uggh...I know I will do the right thing and stay with her and be miserable. |

I'll be buying some Boyd wheels when I have some money available for them. Around $1100 for a set of carbon clinchers. Of course that money may not be for a while still. |

Again?!?! I'm going to have to try again around the lunch hour (only if there isn't any rain). I'm so over Lifetime Fitness. Off to look for different pools in the area....... *** edited to add a question. I'm thinking of racing my sprint and 2 olys in a swimsuit (2- piece tri gear for HIM). I know some of you do this, too. Do you just wear your training suit? I'm small up top - 34A - so I don't need a lot of support. We all need some though. Will the suit provide enough support for the run leg of the tri? Edited by jarvy01 2012-03-18 6:20 AM |

Extreme Veteran 585 Price, UT | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED I finished my half. Brutal wind that blew six porta potties over before the race even began. Temps were awesome though. I finished in a slow 3:13, but considering I have not trained at all I was soo happy. Picked au a blister on the ball of my left foot by mile four, but didn't let that stop me. Also my calf issue flaired up in the final two miles and every time I tried to get some running it tightened up like a baseball. For me it was a triump in not quitting. |

Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Great work pushing through Terry. 2 hour + trail ride early this morning. Found some new single track trails in Pachaug State Forest. Man the new 29'er is so much faster than my old bike. I know how we all say "it's all the engine", but a bike has to make some difference. It's very technical in there, and this bike just rolls over everything. Great buy! |

If you're small-ish on top there's no need for any extra support. Plus I think it looks cool to race old school style just in a swim suit. |

Pro 4723 CyFair | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Crazy weekend.
Saturday: Cindy did the Warrior Dash. I had no real desire to do it until I saw it. Looks like a blast. She raced with a group of girls and had to slow down for them. Cindy is overly competitive so when she got in the car and dropped "Damn those f'ing b#$ches. If I was racing by myself I could have been through 30 minutes earlier." I was shocked..... and proud. LOL. After that we hit up the garden stores for some soil and veggies.
Sunday: 60 miles of hills and wind out in Chappell Hill. Note to self. If you only take enough hydration and nutrition for 40 miles it is hard to make it stretch to 60. Got home and planted our crops. We planted 2 types of tomatoes, zuchinni, jalepenos, cucumbers, mini watermelons, tomatillos, basil, eggplant, 2 types of lettuce, and already have 1 out of control italian parsley plant. |

Pro 4672 Nutmeg State | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED So I decided to withdraw from Ironman Texas. I had a trial date moved and instead of starting just after I got back from Texas, the trial is now scheduled to start 4 days before Texas. While the trial may settle, its way too big of a risk to take. We talked and decided that the best option was IMNYC. I found a way in through a charitable foundation and am now registered. (Jeff-y I know its not as scenic as Mount Tremblant but its suits my strengths better and there are 30 more Kona slots at NYC than Tremblant). |
