I know most of you are over this, but if you're interested here's my take on the legalities of the Lance situation:

Stress fracture of 4th metatarsal ...been sore but honestly really haven't been off of it.  I haven't run in over 2 weeks, but still walking, biking, swimming, etc.

Haven't seen a doctor because I don't have insurance ... They could take x-rays but stress fractures don't always show up. So I did the free injury screen at Athletico.

Not any free consults that I know of, but may call in a favor of a friend whose uncle is an orthopaedic surgeon.  Or maybe just give it a few more weeks.  Just wonder if I should be biking and swimming ... just don't want to lose the fitness.

Went to a hill workout tonight for my tri club (cheer squad and picture taker) and was talking to the coach running it about my foot, Jen Harrison, and she basically said she usually sees a marked improvement at about 6 weeks and could be pain til that point.  She suggested getting my butt in the boot and trying to stay off it.

On another note, do any of you keep up with the ITU racing?  I really haven't too much unless it was on TV until recently.  3 of the kids (well, adults now) that go to the Elite Triathlon Academy in Colorado that was just created came from just a few miles south of me.  So it is a blast reading about them (Lukas Verzbicas, Kevin McDowell, Kelly Whitley) as they all came from the Multisport Madness Triathlon club.

Lukas destroyed the competition over this weekend - a 30:55 10K run!!!  There is also a really interesting article about him in the Inside Triathlon magazine.

Hope you start to be pain free soon Carrie!

So I signed up for IM Lake Tahoe yesterday with 4 of my training buddies (the same ones I did Wisconsin with, and two that are doing Vineman).  Going to have to figure out the altitude thing somehow.

Morning, all.

I was up at 4:15 so I could get to the pool for a swim.  My swim workout called for lots of IMs. I LOVE doing them.  I had a blast swimming, and I can't remember the last time I felt that way about a swim session  Surprisingly, butterfly stroke was a cakewalk compared to the swim days of my youth.  It must be that I have better upper body and core strength now.  Good stuff!!!!

Short recovery run later and that's all.  Hanging with the younger boys by the pool.  My husband is going to the Indians' game tonight, so I'm a single parent for the entire day.

Awesome!  Don't have any advice about the altitude thing.  I went hiking in Colorado a few years ago, and I nearly died of an asthma attack on the side of a mountain.

Carrie - If you are in serious pain, then you probably shouldn't do anything at all.  If it's just a little pain or soreness, then I would continue to swim and bike.  I am very sorry to hear that you are struggling with pain right now!!! I hope it goes away soon.

carrie639 - 2012-06-18 2:28 PM Injury question for anyone, with this stress fracture in my foot, what am I supposed to feel week to week, how much discomfort should I feel 2 weeks out, 4 weeks out (from stopping running). I have googled the hell out of stages of pain, what to expect with healing and can't find anything. It's frustrating not knowing if the pain, soreness or discomfort is normal. Is the biking and swimming causing it, etc. Should I completely lay off everything, no exercise, etc. HELP, ANYONE

I have to agree with Jen - I think you should take 1-2 weeks completely off and see how it feels. I am sorry you are in so much pain.

After the choppy conditions of Patrtiot and Kelly preaching butterfly I think that's going to be one of my fall projects. I think if my core was in better shape I wouldn't have had my lower back toasted on the swim and thus effecting my bike like it did. You're lucky fly comes easier for you. Great job.

Really easy 16 mile ride this morning. Usually that intensity I'd do the trainer for recovery but it was way too nice out. So I drove to the beach and did this double loop that has no hills of consequence.

May was such a monster month for me I really need this week to be all about recovery so I can start back up for PumpkinMan.

I hate you.   1500 easy in the pool today.

As far a Roger.... ugh!!  When you have a sleazeball trainer/roids dealer and Andy Pettite who flipped his story half way through you get screwed as the prosecution.  The attack the accuser and not the evidence ploy worked here because the accuser was such a sleaze.  Lance isn't being tried in a court of law so I am much less optimistic.

Oh and I'm pretty much convinced that 2 of my training partners are cheating on their spouses with each other.  Pretty sad stuff.

I don't like it when forums ban people.  It makes me think people are running to the moderators, tattling and complaining about insignificant little things.  I mean, don't visit online forums if you are easily offended.  Simple.  It's the web, for crying out loud.  There have been times where I haven't liked what someone has said, or I didn't think a response was helpful or productive, but I move along.  I have a life (I think ).

First day in the 50m pool! It was a little intimidating at first. My workout seemed to go by faster though. 2200m total today. Coach tweaked my stroke a little more today and got some good feedback on those changes. I think the 50m pool is going to help a lot for the 1500m in August.
