charles-goff - 2011-09-18 5:02 PM Hit the pool today with Mattie, she is getting much better at swimming. She is able to do a complete lap without stopping and is only using arm floaties now. She just needs to get a bit more confident and she will be swimming with no floaties. As long as the weather holds I will easily get my biking in, it is nice being able to commute to work and back now. Mattie finished her goal for biking, but I am sure she will get a couple more rides in now that she can ride on her own.

Now these are some spectacular accomplishments - becoming proficient at both swimming and biking.  Go Mattie!  This made me think of when I was learning to ride a bike.  I can still smell the evening air in that little subdivision in Tennessee which bordered cow pastures.  It was the early 70s and I had a bike from Sears with a banana seat and a tall orange flag on the back. Great memories.

Had another swim session tonight! Whew! Man, that kicking stuff's pretty hard. Can I just share that I am falling madly in love with biking and swimming? I truly am.

Torn between two lovers??? Does Biking know of your fondness for Swimming, and vice versa? They might get jealous of one another, and next thing you know, you'll be flirting with Running.

Ok, people...both North and South.

We're 2/3 of the way through September, and I'm seeing lots of <50% out there. Time to HTFU and get on the bike, or to the pool.

10 days to go...the clock's ticking....

(Really Yanti...59,000 yards so far???? How the heck you find the time for that? Do you commute to work across the Pacific Ocean or something?)

I've actually been in a relationship with running for years. I'm being pulled in 3 directions now. Le sigh.

Come on Team South, let's break Yanti's challenge losing streak!!!

I've felt so off these past 2 days kinda like I'm getting sick.  I think it's my allergies acting up as I am extremely congested right now... the lack of sleep isnt helping either.  I don't know why but I go through periods where I just can't sleep.  I'm in the middle of one now and I'm hoping this will end soon.

In other news, I bought some vibram five fingers today.  Been going back and forth for a while about whether to get them and tried some on my lunch break today and they were too comfy to not buy.  If I'm feeling better tomorrow I'm taking them for a short test run.

Seriously bad customer service drives me crazy!!!!  The post office lost my package sent someone over to check our central mailbox station for it.  The woman was beyond rude.  Kept repeating it was delivered yesterday and was still in my mailbox this morning.  NO IT WAS NOT!!!!  I checked the mail at 10pm last night and I've checked twice today and James checked another time.  It was never in our mailbox.  I tried explaining this to her and she pretty much called me a liar.  I was so offended and mad that I went straight inside and called the customer service line told them what happened and how I had been treated.  Thankfully she took me seriously and was extremely nice and apologetic and has documented everything.  I can't believe how rude people can be.  I know that no one except me and James and Jaclyn can get into our mailbox because we are the only ones with keys so had it been in the mailbox it would have been picked up by one of us.

*end rant*

I feel much better now.

I'm such a bone head!

Sorry North team... it appears that I included the planned workouts for Aug 29, 30, 31 in my total count for Sept.  I couldn't figure out how I got 15 S /14 B sessions when Sept only has 4.3 weeks and I'm on a 3x/week plan.  I'll be short 1 for the bike and maybe 1 for the swim if I stick to the plan but can fit in another short swim to be 100%. Good news is that I haven't missed a planned WO in Sept (only missed 1 since Aug 1st),  feeling good for the Oct 2nd Sprint.

We'll let it slide this time, but next time it's 10 lashings for you!!!  Just kidding.  That's an awesome record to not have missed a planned workout the whole month.  Great job.

I wish I could say the same... I've gotten my volume in up until this week, and I'm still exceeding my goals because of extra laps or miles during my workouts but this week my training has taken a beating.  I have a race on Saturday so I have an unscheduled (but I'll make it up hopefully) rest day on Friday, and on Wednesday a typoon rolled through Japan so that was an unscheduled rest day.  Luckily the typhoon was just wind and rain but nothing too crazy.  A few downed trees but not injuries or deaths that I know of.  Maybe I'll use my catch up workouts this weekend as an excuse to take a break from working on my Master's thesis... oh wait, I already do that so it's no different!!!

Come on team north, those southies may be gaining on us but we can hold them off!  Ride like the wind and swim like a fish!
