yogachic - 2010-08-19 11:01 PM Oh yeah, I got another bike commute in today, and a run.  I was going to do speedwork but I didn't want to run around in circles on the track, and my Garmin's still broken.

I even tried going to the Garmin store today to bring my watch in, but it was closed.  The hours were 10-6, and I got there at 6:10 coming straight from work.  Grrrr!  How the heck do they expect the working public to be able to make it during those hours??  No wonder it's always empty in there.  I guess I'll have to go over the weekend.

Is it a Garmin store?

Yeah... I'm hoping to talk to someone there and maybe they can take a look at it and help me out.  Though I'm pretty sure they'll just say they need to send it in for repairs.

pdbman - 2010-08-20 12:04 PM Up early for work yesterday (only 4 hours sleep), then headed out to take my son to school and help him move in. Got home after 11 so no workout. Its going to be pretty quiet with just the wife and I at home.

I started out with such good plans this month. I didn't think it would be hard to stay on track. My goals even took a few off days into consideration because I new I had some things going on. And I'm still on the slacker list.

I think I'm always overly optimistic at the beginning of the month.  I feel like I'm always just squeaking by with my goals.

D001 - 2010-08-19 8:31 PM Surprise! It's a RANDOM CHALLENGE UPDATE! August is 61% over. Don't be a slacker! And wow, do we have a lot of slackers this month! OVERACHIVERS: Artemis - 76.70% ON TARGET: Blagels - 59.60% SLACKERS: yogachic - 52.10% sappho96 - 52.00% owl_girl - 51.70% kimk - 46.60% tri808 - 45.80% ABrady42 - 42.70% LiamD - 37.50% mndymond - 32.20% crimefighter2 - 26.90% pdbman - 25.90% Emmanem - 23.90% ashort33 - 0.00% D001 - 'cause I withdrew.

You just HAAAAAD to post the random challenge update before I got the chance to put in today's workouts in, didn'tcha??  Wink  Oh well, I'm still not close to 61% anyways.  Maybe I can make it off the slacker list the next time you post an update!  I just need to figure out a way update the spreadsheet mid-workout to make sure my latest workout always count!!

Either that, or you need to figure out when I'm about to post a random update, and just do your update before that.

Good luck with this ^^^.

That is actually a GOOD thing. It means you're challenging yourself.

I, on the other hand, opt for the path of slackerhood, so I set my goals low. LOL

lol. I'm on track to hit 100%+ by the end of the month. No worries here.

So what happens if we're both at 100% and 31/31 in August?

I'm doing a sprint tri.  I think I've done this one 3 or 4 times.  It's fun and mellow.

No race for me - did an ultra last weekend.

Anyway - question for the group - as my Garmin died an untimely death, do I abandon that portion of the challenge or estimate my kcal burn?  That was how I was keeping track.  My guestimate would be based on the year plus of wearing it where I would burn about 150 per mile run and 75 per mile biked.  I'll just be hosed on the P90X workouts (if I ever do any

Have a great weekend folks!

Estimate it. We wouldn't want you to slack off a portion of the challenge, "miss out" on a portion of the challenge.

Why is it they can have all women tri's but they can't have all men tri's? Or is it that men wouldn't be interested in an all men tri because there wouldn't be any eye candy?
Not that I really care if they have an all men tri. I don't really care. I was just wondering.

I wasn't feeling inspired to work out today and kept putting it off. Finally went on a ride after work and I'm glad I did. It was a good workout and I feel much better (not to mention that I don' feel like such a slacker now).

Maybe because men don't mind competing with men, but some women don't want to compete with men?

Besides, if you have an all women tri, everything can be PINK.

Hey guys! I have unfortunately turned into a slacker over the past few days. In VEGAS!! Woohoo! Awesome times...but is absolutely counterproductive to swim bike run...not going to lie. I've got 2 long runs to hopefully fit in by the end of the month when I get back...so hopefully that boosts the mileage up a bit and my hip is able to take it. Hopefully all this "time off" is going to work out well for my hip. Been walking for hours for the past few days and it hasn't really bothered me...so ya...

So much for taking it easy today, the day before my sprint tri.  I just got a fricking flat in my full size, 4 door truck!  Blah!!!!  At least I was in a parking lot and not along the highway somewhere on the way to the tri!  Now my back hurts.  Fricking truck tires are heavy!!!

pdbman - 2010-08-20 7:14 PM Good luck to all those that have races this weekend. I'm excited for my weekend. I have a weekend where I get to plan most of what I am doing instead of having a full calendar running from one thing to another.

As the saying goes, life is what happens when you make other plans. Went for a run Saturday night and literally came staggering home (Severe chest pains, blah, blah, blah). Wife rushed me to the hospital and now I am finally home.  The tests all come back fine. Angiogram doesn't show any blockage or narrowing of the arteries. Heart function looks normal, mostly. They did find that my heart pauses after a deep breath but they weren't overly concerned about it after the angiogram. I am supposed to go back in to see the cardiologist in a couple of weeks. I guess that means I am out of the challenges for the next little while.

Which brings my first tri season to an end without even doing a single race. I know "All those posts and you haven't even done a single race?" I like to chat and I like the challenges to keep me going. I had this whole season mapped out with a race every month from April through Aug and something came up every time (sickness, family obligation, etc). I was going to do a late season tri next month but now that is out too. Hopefully everything will be in order soon so I can get back on track and be ready for next season.

I hope its ok if I still hang around even though I can't do the challenge. Like I said, I like to chat.
