Wow a new Nibbs has started up.

I must have missed a lot last night since we are already knee deep into the new Nibbs.

Good morning.  Won't be around much today - Big Boss is in and actually have to look busy I guess!

Don't tell - but someone has a birthday today.

Couple of hints - She loves men in green tights/She flies everywhere (see just a couple)

Oh, green tights, not green men. LOL

Berry Berry quiet around here today.

Hope TinkerBeth has a great B-Day!

I am out and hopefully the weather clears up by 6 and I can get a dry group ride in. If not I get a muddy mt bike ride in instead. Somehow I think the muddy one will be much more fun!

TTYT!

Muddy mountain bike sounds like more fun. It will probably be just as much work as a dry group ride, too.

Yup, it's quiet in here today. I'm cleaning my home office and have piles everywhere and I keep hoping that someone will be out here to talk to so that I don't have to clean.

All is well in my world. I'm taking a staycation this week. At home cleaning my home office. That part isn't too much fun, but I'm also getting caught up on a lot of reading. That I enjoy. I think work has been busy for a lot of people recently.

Crazy times all around then... Things are starting to settle down a bit here, so I'm really happy about that. What are you reading now? I'm an avid reader as well.

I love Orson Scott Card.

But I guess you probably knew that.

Just read one of his books that I didn't know about - Invasive Procedures...kinda what would happen if OSC swallowed Michael Crichton. Or something like that.

He completely fooled me in the way he wrote Enders Game. Great book. They've been trying to make it into a movie for some time, but Card's writing the screenplay... they just need to find a superstar director that would take an interest in the property to make it happen, tho.

It's taking too long...I remember first hearing about a movie when Haley Joel Osment would have been a rockin' Ender. Now HJO is getting arrested for DUI and sports a goatee...oh how time flies.

I guess you can't really call them "crap" books in a library, huh? A big sign that says "This way to the crap books!"

(I think my library is calling them "beach reads" this year.)

kns57 - 2008-08-13 3:27 PM Hi Scott.

Man, I'm on a conference call right now, and our agency is taking a BEATING from the participants. Can't tell you what its about, but it has the potential to blow up into a national problem.

If you told us, you'd have to kill us - right? I'd rather not know.

Sorry things aren't going well.

Look how long it took to turn Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" into a Hollywood movie - or Dune  vis-a-vis the publication dates of those books.

With Dune, the FX people couldn't figure out how to do the worms... now with CGI, its childs play. Verhoeven ended up making a satire of ST because they wouldn't give him the budget to do the armored combat suits right... although with the advances in CGI/blue screen now, they could remake the movie with the suits virtually painted onto the actors, like you can see in Iron Man.

True about the effects...but I think the problem with OSC is really that so much of it is character/mental...hard to put that up on the big screen.
