@KATE, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad HUGS!!

For me, I am still stuck in Malta. We are doing testflights almost every day but there is still a problem with the plane and they can't seem to figure it out.

I am not really dieting at all as I just eat whenever I find some food which is not often. Breakfast buffet is very good and I eat a lot there because I never know when I will get sth again. I managed to find a scale in the hotel gym today and weighed pretty much the same as last week at home and I am actually happy with that.

Will write more regularly when I am back home.

BTW exercising is pretty much non existing as I hardly have time and I also hit my small toe on a door stopper 3 days ago and it has been hurting like hell. It is a little better today so maybe I will go for a short run tomorrow and if not I might try out the stationary bike at the hotel gym (if we are still in Malta then).

The weather has  been awesome though and my husband and my friends at home are really envies as autumn has made it to Iceland and it is very windy and rainy all the time now....

Have a great day everyone

Got in a two-hour bike ride today and it was terrific.  I still need to get in Day 4 of my marathon training program, which is a 50 minute run.  I am still stuff from dinner (we went out and I had Mango and Chicken salad) so I can't go out running yet.  We did walk to dinner and that was about thirty minutes total.  One thing about the marathon training program is that it is time-based, not distance, so  suppose I could count the thirty-minute walk towards the fifty.

Well, I didn't make it out again last night for another run, so my thirty minute walk had to count for a fifty minute run.  For my marathon training program, today is a rest so, so I went to Crossfit this morning, but probably won't do much else.  And I'm hungry, but I am getting a fasting blood test in a couple hours and can't eat until that's over.  I am hoping for all really good numbers and for my cholesterol to be 180.  It wasn't too bad last year, something like 207 or 211, but I want it under 200.

What does everyone else have scheduled for today?

Your consistency can't be beat Leah!

I didn't end up swimming today but will go in the morning about to hop on the treadmill though so I at least get a small calorie deficit going today. I've been trying for a pretty ambitious 1000-1500 deficit on most days but today I'll settle for 500.

Kate - Are you taking a trip back to OH to be with the family?

Thanks.  Once I discovered "peaches," I was hooked.

My marathon training program called for a 90 minute run today, but I only did 79, so I will have to make up the 11 minutes later.  I did my favorite kind of run.  I ran to one of a couple restaurants and then Chuck met me there, we had breakfast and then he drove me home.  Runs are much better when I have a definite destination rather than just going outside and running for an hour and a half.

I talked to my potential bike coach and I will be seeing him on Thursday.  He is going to put me on the trainer - something I have never done before - and check my bike fit and see my form and whatever.  I am greatly encouraged.  We didn't talk money so let's hope this is affordable.

Good work outs girlz!  You two are moving!  I had a nice 6 mile run yesterday.  It was under 11 minute miles which is very good for me.  I'm trying to find something to do today.  Might go for a long walk and do situps and push ups in the hotel room.

Good luck losta on your race today!!

Talk to you all soon.

Yeay Losta!! Awesome...

AZ - I did 6 today too. Wish I was as fast as you though. Sigh. I could only crank out 4.7 for the first hour and 4.4 the rest... Gosh I hope I get some of this weight off quickly I really don't think my speed will improve much w/o it.

Is anyone here interested in the October Halloween Run Challenge?

Good way to keep you running! And it's fun!

Now that my tri's are done (I have another one listed in my blog but I haven't signed up and I think it may be too cold and difficult to get to). So I'm setting running goals for fall/winter. I want to sign up for a 10K in December and a half Marathon for late winter.

How is everyone here with running? It's the hardest for me but I really want to improve and I know getting the weight off will make it easier. I am looking forward to when I can again do 11 minute miles!

I'm in depending on what you had in mind as a challenge. As you guys know I have a 15k (just over 9 miles) race on Nov 1st so I plan to run a lot this/next month. I'm going to be focusing on running all this winter. (Best for weight loss and overall fitness gains)

You challenge yourself and interact with lots of BTers.

I haven't yet figured out what my challenge will be but I'm thinking run every other day, 1 longer run a week. I still have to worry about my knee and have to be careful and not get running injuries.

OK.  I joined too.  I am not sure my challenge is going to be anything other than making sure I keep on the straight and narrow with my marathon training program.  But it would be fun if we were on the same team.

For fun this weekend, I am doing a trail race with my 5 year old grandson.  I don't expect him to do more than 2 miles (the race is officially 5 miles), but this is just a start.  I really like doing trail races and most of them in California are up north and I haven't done any since he was born (preferring to spend my Saturday mornings with him).  But now he is going to start doing them with me.  I am very excited about this.

Lisa - I haven't read your race report, but am about to head on over there right now.

More later.

Leah - That sounds fun. I'm sure he will enjoy it. Out running today I got passed by 2 kids that were around that age. Passed!

Lost - Yep, mine will probably also be an every other day thing for an hour. Sounds fun I haven't actually done any of the BT challenges yet even though I've been here over a year and a half.

Lisa - I laughed at your race report.  Even though I ALWAYS give myself permission to take the time I need in transition - it isn't like I am in contention or anything - when I get race results I try to remember sitting down and having a nice cup of coffee and perhaps reading a bit in my latest book.  What on earth was I doing in there for so long?????

And I don't usually wear a wetsuit, but I am thinking about it this year for two reasons.  The first is that the LA Tri is a month later than it usually is and I am worried about it being colder and the second is that every single year for bunches of years, somewhere along the swim I get bad cramps in one or both legs.  This never happens to me swimming in the pool and the only thing I can think of is that it is the cold water.  I never get the cramps at the start, so I know it isn't a warmup issue.  Last year both legs seized up just as I was close to being able to stand and I was scared that I wouldn't be able to stand and that a wave would knock me down and I would be helpless.  I called for help and the lifeguard came and made sure I got out of the water OK.  Kind of embarrassing to need help three feet from shore.  I do know I need to practice taking it off because the last time I wore it, it took me bloomin' forever to get the fool thing off.

On my bike ride last Saturday, I forgot my socks and so have now practiced riding sockless.  It works just fine.  I think I will go on my run tonight without socks and see how I do with that.  That will save a bunch of time because I do rinse and dry my feet in T1 before putting on my socks.

Anyway, Lisa, it looked like it was a fun race.  This time next year we will all be lighter and faster.

Also, for the challenge, I like that they count pretty much anything you do on your feet.  That is how I log my "runs."  I log as running, hiking, walking, running, intervals, run/walking, etc.  If it is on my two feet, I log it as running.

Peer pressure.  I'm in too.  I have a full marathon in January scheduled.  This challenge will help me with that and with the RUN MORE EAT LESS plan.  I need to read the rules again and figure out my personal goal.  Can we have a NUTSO team??  Where is KiriH and Joblin?  They wanted to start training hard.

Today I ran 3 miles.  I think that the local rotary club mismarked the mileage at the reservoir.  My ipod said I ran 3 miles in 30 minutes 9 seconds.  That can't possibly be right.  I'm more of a 11 - 12 minute mile gal.  My times have been great all week so a mismarked trail could be the reason.  Travelling back home tomorrow so I don't know if I will get a work out in.

And then again, maybe your training is paying off and you are getting faster.

As for me, I am quite exhausted.  My training plan calls for an hour run tonight and I think it is going to be an hour walk.  I was too tired to get up for swimming this morning, but think I can get it in after a meeting.

Have a good day, ladies.

Is it the Nike ipod + or GPS on an iphone? My nike + is usually a bit off. You can calibrate it though.

Hi all,

I am back home (was stuck with a broken aircraft in Malta for 10 days!!) and after almost 2 weeks of doing nothing I am ready to start exercising again. Its incredible how fast you can get used to doing nothing....

It feels like I have lost all my fitness since the Half-Ironman

I still have this Half-Marathon on my schedule which is on Oct 24th but I am not sure anymore if I can do it. I set up a training program for the next 5 weeks which includes   4-5 runs a week but I have to see how the hip and back will cope with that much running. I will try my first run today and see how my toe is doing. It is not blue anymore and I am pretty sure it is not broken so I will just tape it up and suck it up lol

Oh I joined the Halloween Running challenge as well as it is exactly what I need. I hope we all get in the same team

Have a great day everyone

I just signed in to the run challenge as well. Have to keep to the plan! Going to try to do 25 days of run and walk for at least 30 minutes.  I'm finally feeling mostly normal again, that head cold really threw me for a loop. Eager to get back on the wagon. Weigh in tomorrow - crossing my fingers for a pound or two...

Wow! It looks like everyone is up for the run challenge! Great!

Welcome back Joblin! Glad you are better Kirih!!

Now we have to come up with individual challenges.

I'm thinking of run every other day or Monday and Wednesday plus a longer weekend run for Saturday or Sunday.
I don't want to overdo it and get injured. But I want to make it the focus of off season training.
But I don't really know I'll give it some thought. Any ideas?
