The real issue is going to be how much you react to cross-contamination. Will you be ok if a bit of residual flour gets in your dough? That's fine for me, but not ok for other people. Do you have Bob's Red Mill mixes? They have a lot of good GF stuff. |

Nope - the main brands here seem to be Basco, Leda and Freedom Foods but so far most of the taste leaves a little to be desired althought the Basco cake mixes are yummy! S love the cupcakes so much I think he ate most of them! Yeah cross contamination is an issue but Im not dx celiac and while the gluten free has helped some its really not made a large enough difference for me to worry about a little bit at this stage... Will probably add a small (non wheat) amount back in after chrissie and see if I notice any significant changes! |

Im heading to S parrent place - think it will be a pretty quiet day which will be nice! Monday I'm headed out. Driving to my parents' house on Monday (16 hours). Driving to in-laws' Tuesday morning (3 hours). Staying with my in-laws until Christmas morning, when we head back to my family. Staying with them until the 30th when we drive back. Lots of driving, but I told A I wanted to be home for New Year's Eve so we could celebrate with our friends. |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Nibbs XLIV - Happy Birthday Nibbs! Artemis - 2010-12-17 3:34 PM Anyone used a phototherapy light in the winter? I'm considering buying this one for my desk at work. I've been really grumpy and had sleeping problems despite the anti-depressants. We must be channeling one another. I was just thinking about these lights today. I haven't seen sunlight in sooooooo long. Wow, it's just $30? That would be well worth it, if it works. Hm.... It says it's full spectrum, which sounds good. But is it bright enough? Intensity. The intensity of the light box is recorded in lux, which is a measure of the amount of light you receive at a specific distance from a light source. Light boxes for light therapy usually produce between 2,500 lux and 10,000 lux. The intensity of your light box affect how far you sit from it and the length of time you need to use it. The 10,000 lux light boxes usually require 30-minute sessions, while the 2,500 lux light boxes may require 2-hour sessions. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/light-therapy/MY00195/DSECTION=wha... So now I have to find out more about lux: 1,000 lux Overcast day[2]; typical TV studio lighting 10,000–25,000 lux Full daylight (not direct sun)[2] 32,000–130,000 lux Direct sunlight http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lux Eh, but then there's this: There is no single conversion factor between lux and watt/metre2; there is a different conversion factor for every wavelength, and it is not possible to make a conversion unless one knows the spectral composition of the light. The peak of the luminosity function is at 555 nm (green)... For monochromatic light of this wavelength, the irradiance needed to make one lux is minimum, at 1.464 mW/m2. That is, one obtains 683.002 lux per W/m2 (or lumens per watt) at this wavelength. Other wavelengths of visible light produce fewer lumens per watt. The luminosity function falls to zero for wavelengths outside the visible spectrum. For a light source with mixed wavelengths, the number of lumens per watt can be calculated by means of the luminosity function.... This means that white (or whitish) light sources produce far fewer lumens per watt than the theoretical maximum of 683 lumens per watt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lux And now, I'll just go hit my head against the wall a few times..... |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Nibbs XLIV - Happy Birthday Nibbs! OK, from what I'm reading online, it MAY be that 150 Watts of full spectrum light could produce about 2500 - 3000 lux. No sources being cited, it's more of an average of what some different websites are giving as their full spectrum bulb conversion numbers between watts and lux.... But it does sound like that light, at 150 watts of full spectrum light MIGHT fall into the right lux range used for light therapy. Actually -- I guess you could contact the manufacturer to see if they can tell you how many lux it is. Then you'd know for sure if it was powerful enough..... |
