givemashot - 2010-11-24 8:21 AM So the great Utah Blizzard of 2010 is over. it lasted all of 6 hours, and left all of 4 inches of snow at my house. Yes, I said four. 4. 1-2-3-4. We got waaaaaayyyy more snow Saturday night with a regular snowstorm. Although, you could still see while it was snowing Saturday, and that wasn't really happening last night.

It's a whopping 6 degrees F out side right now. Mmm. Toasty. Undecided

Glad it wasn't worse, but wow is that cold!

Hey gang! I should be around for a little bit here if anyone's online. It's been a very busy week here, both good and bad. On the bad, I got into a bit of a fender bender on the way home last night. Nobody's hurt or anything, but I did NOT feel a burning need to deal with a repair shop this (or any other) time of year.

On the good side work has been doing well so far, and I have some promising folks I'm working with. Also, and this is the best news, I'm finally going to be buying my own home! Even cooler is that we're supposed to close on Dec 21 so we can set up the tree in the new place! I'm very excited!

Whoo hoo, Tom!!  That is such an exciting time!  Enjoy!!!

mndymond - 2010-11-24 7:13 AM so storytime: got home from swimming last night and I was sitting in the living room eating food and texting some gfs on "girl stuff". So my Dad had asked me who I was talking to and I just kind of shrugged and said friends. So he asked me if I had a boyfriend. I just looked at him, shook my head and looked back down awkwardly. So he said something like "too busy" and then we sat there in silence. So back story: when I was in second yr undergrad I wanted to go to this party but my car wasn't working, so I was having a bit of a fit and my Dad had asked me why I wanted to go so badly if it was because I had a bf. I said no, he asked why not...I said I dont know. He asked if I was gay. I said no...he said "it would be okay if you were". I said I wasnt again. So last night I was sitting there with an overwhelming urge to say it but kept silent and being bristly. I think 4 separate people have asked me that question in the past week "do you have a bf-if not, why not"...my friend says I'm not allowed to answer with: "his name is richard, he fights dragons" ...so ya...i'm also not allowed to say "myob". So I just shrug? Im not sure if any of that made sense...just venting as per usual.

Oh Melissa, I don't have an answer for you but I can sympathize.  I was single until I was 42 yo.  For much of that time I shared a house with another single gal.  Economics and friends ONLY.  But I know people wondered and even occasionally asked.  I got a little tired of explaining that I was fine being single, and surely didn't want to get married just to "be" married.

Thanks Dee.

I'm more or less over it now and am no longer bristly...(I tend to get over things somewhat quickly...I wallow for a few hours and then I'm usually back...) It's just whenever it comes up I tend to question if I am the one in denial...Am I fine being single? I'm pretty sure I am...Do I have my priorities straight? I'm pretty sure I do. Sometimes I just let people get to me when I shouldn't let them get to me I guess. Just because you-are-23-and-have-been-in-a-6yr-relationship-and-are getting-married-next-summer-doesn't-mean-I-have-to-be-like-you!

I'm good. It sounds really corny, but I don't NEED a guy. I'm pretty certain that I am self sufficent for the most part and can generally figure things out for myself. I'm on a fairly stable career path and don't need anyone's $$ to do what I want to do in life. I'm happy...I like what I am doing (even though I like to moan about it sometimes)...I swim, bike, run, go out, read, run my own schedule, be non-chill and then get made fun of for being non-chill, be random and then get made fun of for being random, sometimes I do crazy things sometimes I don't....

So ya...moral of the story: whatever. I'm dating a man named Brom (who also incidentally really likes JB and JG) and he fights dragons Cool

Haha. (I know...I'm growing...haha)

Thanks for dealing with me...haha...(I should just preface every day with that comment)

So....this is Alberta Health Services' lead man...he got fired today for this awesome 2min clip...Back story: The govt brought this guy in from Austrailia to reorganise Alberta's health care system...people HATE him. He did this 2 hour debate with my class last year on how to prioritize resources and it was uncomfortable to say the least sitting in a room with about 200 people giving him dagger eyes for 2hrs. If looks could kill..

It is 35 degrees and raining hard here. There will be no turkey trot this morning.

We are making breakfast now. Bacon is on and the monkey bread is in the oven. Come on over.

Heya Ghoulies!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Just caught up on the thread.

Tom FANTASTIC on the house. That is too cool. Can you post pics? A Christmas tree in your very own house. THAT is a great Christmas present.

Melindy. You are fine. You are still a baby. I was single until 36. No worries. No matter what, people have comments, if you get married early there are comments, if you never marry there are comments if you marry late there are comments. etc.

Ann, I am on my way for breakfast. I'll just have some monkey bread, I'll give you all my bacon.

Kim, TAKE me shopping, too! I am such a rustic, I would be like the Beverly Hillbillies in the big city!

Neal, hope you got to your family's safely.

Dee, glad you are fine and staying warm and toasty

Bill, eat until your wife is embarrassed today!

Amy, I had to laugh at your blizzard. That sounds like how snow is described here. We get 6 inches and the National Guard is called in.

Stacy, Kim, Jules Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for lots of things, you guys are up there!

Hope all of you have a great day! I am off to cook and clean and do a ST session. Not in that order.

I was up far too late last night studying...prob till almost 1am...way past my bedtime.

Still reading for tomorrow and getting ready for my clinical exam later. It's a dress clothes day.

Swimming we are doing a broken 400IM tonight. Been doing a lot of fast and a lot of fly lately...my lats and traps are feeling it. The good thing about fly is it is pretty much a core workout, so I haven't been feeling too guilty about slacking off on my dryland fitness...but definately need to pick that up next month! 2 weeks in a 2 piece requires sveltness. Haha.

Well I'm off to my place of business to study before my exam. Going to drop by Chapter's on the way over to pick up Runner's World and Triathlete to read post exam tomorrow. The quarentine us if we want to stay for the review and we are allowed "non-medical" literature. I haven't decided if I will stay for the review, but best to be prepared.

Cya later. (if you are around and not eating turkey...)

Biscuits cut into 4 pieces then rolled in cinnamon and sugar. You then put the coated pieces in a bunt pan and cover with melted brown sugar and butter and bake. It comes out as gooey sugar coated goodness.

That was rough. I feel like I was an awkward mess in my clinical exam...just an awkward mess...we had 15min...I finished in 12...So we just sit in silence and be awkward for 3min...

I'm probably going to get feedback that I was an awkward mess...The actress didn't really give me a lot to work with so I kind of froze up in a few places...I got the diagnosis right and gave a management plan, but I am probably not going to get a good evaluation and am now worried about that.

Undecided

sigh* Back to the regular scheduled programming of studying obs/gyne/uro. I wish they didn't do this to us the day before a final...because now I am just distracted with how poorly I just did.

So I went for a swim this morning. The nastiness at the pool was pretty unbelievable. The HS swim team was practicing and had 4 lanes occupied. That leaves 8 lanes for the rest of us. Plenty. BUT, not enough for people to have their own lane. And yes, circle swimming might even be necessary. And you might even have to swim in the other pool. One woman actually jumped in with the kids, which would have been fine if she could have kept their pace. Caused a huge jam up. Then she threw a tantrum. People were shouting at the coach that she was using too many lanes. Hello, these kids are all paying members too. Nice example the adults were setting today.
