Did the 4 mile race.  It was slightly shorter than 4 miles.  I did fine considering I went to a Christmas party last night and ate too many bad things and drank too much wine!  Eee gads!!!!

Emmanem - 2010-12-11 8:31 PM Been sick for the past week.  Still not feeling 100% so I may take one more day off before easing back into training.  Going to have to adjust my goals once I get back to training.

Ugh!  Sorry to hear you're still not feeling so hot.  How are finals going?

Finally done!!  Some went well others not as great as I wanted but not bad.  I'm just glad to have a nice long break!

I'm attempting to become the next Fruitcake Lady.

That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

There was a recent storm + perfect temperatures to create an icy wonderland in my city. I moved my runs to skip Monday and do Tues/Thurs/Sat instead, but it's still really nasty outside and I can't risk falling because I need my body functioning for work and play.

Here's my plan... on days that there's a high fall risk outside I will do a yoga workout instead and write in my blog that it's replacing a run. On the spreadsheet I will give myself credit for these yoga days, only when they replace a run I should have completed (because I do yoga occasionally anyway). I would rather do this and hold myself accountable for a workout, rather than reduce the # of runs this month due to slippery conditions.

Let me know if anyone doesn't feel this modification is fair.

Congrats on the race. We don't have many winter races here. There is a "Beat the New Year" race that I was considering. It's a 5k that starts at 11:30pm and you try to finish before midnight. With the weather this year, I don't know if I would even score any CWWC points.

I mostly wasn't a fruitcake yesterday. I got in a bike ride and a swim. I missed my daily push ups and sit ups though.

Bad news on the bike. I guess the cold and wet has been hard on my bike. I did not like the noises it was making and the pedals weren't exactly moving smothly. Time to take the bike in for some work but first I have to find a decent bike shop. I don't trust the local. I took my bike in for some work and I really don't think they did the work I asked them to. The next closest shop was my favorite but I just found out they were bought out by the one I don't like. I don't have experience with any of the other shops plus don't want to have to drive an hour to take my bike in. I would love to just put the money into a new bike but that's not going to happen right now. We'll see what I can work out.

Go to the regional section of the forum and see if any fellow BTers can give you advice about shops in your area.

Goals have been adjusted to account for being sick.  Getting back into training today finally.  Still coughing and congested but I feel much better so I'm going to ease back into it and hope everything goes ok.

Nothing.
(Hanging head in shame
I worked late, ate dinner with my family and spent some time together. I planned on a run but it just didn't happen. Today I will not procrastinate my run and push ups and sit ups. I will run during lunch. I'll do push ups and sit ups during my break.

Or... you could move to Florida.

Actually, *I* want to move to Florida. It's cold here, and I'm not happy.

Hm. Or maybe the Bahamas.... Yeah, that could work. I think I'd like the Bahamas.....

I was. I worked until 7:30 PM. Then realized I had a meeting that started at.... wait for it.... 7:00 PM. Whoops. Anyway, I got home around 9:30 PM. So yes, I achieved Fruitcake status. Again.

Anti-fruitcake run this morning!

In the end my lack of weight loss will get me fruitcake status I think... but holding out for most of the month is still an accomplishment!

So you'll only be a partial fruitcake?

Hm. A fruitcake without half the fruit? Or without half the nuts? Maybe with only half the calories, like a "light fruitcake?"

Ah here we go. I *heart* the internet. Search and you shall find....

I'm laughing at the concept of a "light" fruitcake...  By definition, isn't a fruitcake prretty brick-like?  dense and heavy?  Wink

Some people I talk to think I'm totally nuts... for running in the cold... for running at all... for trying to do tri's... for riding in the cold... you get the picture.
The other day someone said referring to me, "You've done it now.  He's a runner." My thought was "But that's a good thing and you say it like it's a bad thing."

I've had a couple of non-fruitcake like days. I got a run in (maybe a little unproductive with the birthday phone calls I got during the run) and did my push ups and sit ups. Already did my push ups and sit ups today and will be heading out soon for the lunchtime run.

If you're totally nuts, does that make you a *heavy fruitcake*? On account of all those nuts, I mean. Not for any other reason.
