I do not believe speed and swim belongs in the same sentence, it's just not natural.

For me Tuesday was much better, my late night effort on the TPS reports did wonders for the morning.  Still not completely caught up but at least Lumbergh is off my back!

Decent workout, 30m on the spinner and 4.25mile run on the treadmill, definetly a stress reliever.   IPOD even started playing STATIC-X (Bled for days) at the end of my run, I don't think there is a better song to sprint to the finish!

1st run after twiking my back on the 3rd. Must say I was suprised it felt really good except for the need of porcelain the last half mile. Just did 3 mi ended with an ave pace of 10:08; I'm happy with that. Watched some youtubes of Ryan Hall on running and attempted to implement some of his suggestions; as a result I felt better in the run. I am starting to think I should spend the $ and get a coach even if it's only for a few sestions. All of my "endurance" knowledge is self taught over the last 2-3 yrs and if a s/b/r coach is anything like a golf coach a few lessons will go a long way. Any comments are deff welcome. Now it's time for bed got an early spin tomorrow. Ciao.

I have been working with Chi running. Keeps me from heal stricking. Went to a workshop last spring. It has been a lot to retrain myself and I am still working on it.

Thx I will have to check out the chi running. I too have been trying to retrain my running; I have heard mixed emotions about retraining one's run. I think at the end of the day if it feels good and I see results I will keep at it.

This morning was a good spin class. Target objective- high cadence. Target achieved. I got to say, this forum is pushing me to actually get up at 5am. I have been hitting the snooze way too often.

Glad you're feeling better!

Thanks, guys, for the positive words for my swimming adventures. Speed night turned out to be a full 1 and 1/2 of speed drills, plus abs/arms. I'm proud to inform you that I didn't once freak out, and I didn't quit. My husband said that he could see improvement in my form. He said it would only be for the 1st 25 meters, then he could tell fatigue was starting and it looked like I was just trying to get to the other side. Totally explained how it felt for me. I can do a beautiful 25m, but after jumping out after each 25 to do 15 swimmer situps, and 10 pushups (alternating on pool ends), the form would go to poo, haha! BUT, I was able to get to the other side even worn out from the sit/push ups. That says a lot for my improvement. Yay!

Today I hope to get in a run. Something familiar an easy, ha!

Great job sticking it out!! workouts like that always SUCK when youre in them, but feel SOOOOOOOO good when youre done.

Oh, and thanks for the inspiration to do some speed work in my swim workout today   1700 total with 250's for wu/cd and a main set of 10x50 on :50, 5x100 on 1:40, and 2x100IM on 2:00... POOPED as I didnt take much rest between each set.  I intentionally didnt bring my running gear to the pool (treadmill in the cardio room is usually where I spend my short run days) as it was forcast to be 60deg!   Wouldnt you know it... thunderstorms   hoping they pass and I can sneak a quick 2-2.5 in after dark.   I know its just a short run and I can get the volume back throughout the week but I REALLY want to give this running thing a solid month of dedication!

I see a lot of swimming, must be nice, the schedule at the local Y just doesn't match mine! Hoping that changes come January! Decent work out On the spinner today! 1 hour combined with a lot sweat loss was a lot of fun! In just the 3 weeks I have started the bike plan I can tell a huge difference! Even notice a change in my running, with stronger quads my knees tend to hurt less. Oh, and if anyone is wondering, the cost of a new transmission for a mountaineer is a small fortune! Good thing there are no other expenses this time of year!

Timmay: It was definitely hard while doing it. My right calf even cramped doing kicks with the board, it was so hard, ha! Didn't stop me though. I didn't want the guy next to me to beat me (I was ahead of him) so while I flexed my foot to stretch out the cramping calf, I finished the set with the one good leg (I'm secretly extremely competitive). Told my husband that at about half way through the last 25 meters of a set, I always get the urge to just stop and float like a dead goldfish, but I'm so proud when I push through!

Happy to know that you were inspired to do some sprints! I think I'm going to grow to love them for training after I get the swimming down. Hope you got that run in!

Brooks: Yay for busting out a swim!

Matt: I wish I had more opportunities to ride the bike. The weather here is warm year round, so getting swim time outdoors is easy, luckily, since it's going to be my main focus in training. I'm weakest in that discipline. Getting biking time, however, it hard. Hard to get out during the wake to a safe place to bike until husband gets home, and then I'm pressed for time with little daylight.

My calf that cramped yesterday is sore today. My neck hurts more than anything else. I'm pretty sure it's because I used the muscles there the most doing the swimmer sit ups. Oi.

Tomorrow at swim team it's form and technique night. Exactly what I need.

IM = Individual Medley.  butterfly, back, breast, free.  Seems to be a good way for me to get the heart rate up!

Unfortunately, I did NOT get my short run in   I'm a little angry at myself.  I had the opportunity to run on the tread but was really looking forward to running outside... should have taken the sure thing.  Up early tomorrow for a 4 miler, might go ahead and push that to 5-6 to get back some of the volume.  With an unplanned rest day I'm sure I'll be fine... shame on me...

OOOOH and lucky me, get to see the dentist for a crown tomorrow too.  Neat

Went for a 6 mile run this morning and for the first time in my running history my abs were sore!  I'm used to running with various parts of my legs hurting, but my abs - wtf   I guess the p90x2 workout i did tuesday highlighted an area i've overlooked since i stopped doing yoga a few months ago.  I hope to get another p90x2 wo in tonight b/c obviously I need it.

Nice job everyone. Great job swimming. I think I have only been in the pool a few times this past year so looking forward to doing more swimming in 2012. Sure wish we had a master swim group in the mornings, need that extra push to get to the pool.

8 1/2 mile run this morning, short run tomorrow than my last 20 mile run on Saturday.

Not a long training day but fun, since we are down to 1 vehicle I am stuck at work for lunch.  Decided to use this time wisely and got in a quick run, 3.93 miles at roughly 38 minutes.  55 degrees in ohio on December 15, thats good times!  I could of done without the rain for mile 2 but at least it didn't last long!  Its tempting to make this a daily run, may be an easy way to get some milage in!

Good job guys and gals if only I could step in you shadows! Kudos. I think I'm grounded from bonktown again... But one of the items did include some LG tri speed shoes-yea baby. I dont know if I mentioned it but I hate treadmills or should I say dreadmills. I think I would rather take light rain and 30 degree weather. Went to the gym, warmed up on the bike, started the run and had to pull the trigger after a mile. Just could not get into it. But I did drive home a knock out two more to at least get three in. Nothing to brag about but it's milage.

hey, mileage is mileage! 1400 in the pool today. I got a late start so I decided to work on sighting drills. A quick 2 mile run after that, a short work day, then a late afternoon soak in the hot tub, and I will wrap up the day seeing the grinch stole christmas with my girlfriends family!!! have a great weekend everyone

That's three more miles than I've run all week, so far! Way to change it up instead of giving up.

Enjoy the movie, Timmay!

I hope to get a run in tonight, then tomorrow morning I have a mountain bike race. Looking forward to that!

Was planning on getting 10-11 miles in this morning, but the person I ran with had to get more miles in his marathon prep, so I ended up running about 15.5.  After my long saturday runs I almost always go for a swim as I think it really helps with recovery.  This morning I kept it pretty short -1350 yds, but boy did the water feel good.

You sure sound like a runner to me.  You'll know for sure if you plan on running x miles and if you're even .10 short as you make it back home/to your car you keep going to get that last .10 done!

Timmay: I love live shows! Hope you had fun.

Had a great time at the mountain bike race yesterday. I need to learn how to shift my gears properly. I kept knocking my chain loose. 14 miles. Forgot to start my gps thingy on my cell, so no clue on time.

My girl cheering my on.
