Good race out there guys and gals!

Aside from the PA guy saying transition would be cramped, but if you're going to race a big event, then that's what you get, it was a well pulled together event.

If they offer $50 for early bird next year, I'll be back.

Jon, hope that road rash heals up soon and that's all you got from your spill.

Forgot the part where I hit some crazy object/pothole in the middle of the road...that I never saw...blew the front tire and had to save myself from flying off the road. And had no fix a flat... I'll be better prepared next time.

QUALIFIED!!!  11th out of 60 in the 40-44 age group gets me to Des Moines in September!  37th overall.  I am so stoked!

Great to see everyone and meet a few friendly faces from here.  Jon is a tuff SOB to finish after his spill.  Don't know that I would have.  That Elite guy you were chasing down should never have cut you off like that!!!  Good to see Reece is mending and hopefully back for KS 70.3.  Pretty much the whole gang was there.

Tired.

Now off to dance recitals!  Woohoo!  ;-)

Great swim, geez that's fast.  That's a great run for you, way to run it out.  I'd rather race then flat than stand on the sidelines though.

Great Race! 2:42 here for my first Oly.

Had one thing... Somebody helped themselves to my tire levers and a CO2 cartridge out of my seat pack after I went through T2. $5 worth of cr@p but still... they suck

580 here, didn't realize we were neighbors. Great to meet everyone that I had a chance to! I need to figure out how train with you fast guys once in a while. I need to find some speed! Fun race, I managed to knock 41 (yes, 41) minutes off of the last Olympic distance I did last summer, and I didn't have any cramp issues. Almost did, but not quite. I'll be back for sure, even though it seems lik EVERYONE is fast at that race. lol.

#1 swim in age group, #4 overall non-pro/elite.  29th in age group on the bike.  19th in age group on the run.  Slow transitions.  Gotta work on that, but wanted to be under control today so didn't rush things.  Run is getting more consistent, so now need to cut down the per-mile splits and up the training mileage.  Learned so much from last year that is starting to pay off this year.

I squeaked out a qualifier spot too-14th in AG. I'm doubtful for hyvee though. I have done its few times, but planning to do the Redman full on Sept 22 so not sure how that race will fit. Congrats Patrick, Jon- sorry about your crash- get healed up for Louisville. Brandon-That sucks, but you have many more races ahead to kick everyone's butts. Reece- you'll be back in no timeHope everyone else had great improvements in race times- great part about this sport is that you really race against yourself most of the time

FUN FUN FUUUUUUUN! Loved this race!

Except the swim part, where the last turn bouey had come un-anchored! I kept wondering why everyone was swimming toward the green bouey when clearly it was adding yards. Only to find out the orange/turn one was drifting (in the wrong direction) as fast as I was swimming - d'oh! Heard that later a lifeguard was towing it back and trying to somehow keep it in place.

My swim was not on par today, but bike and run were fabulous. I really enjoyed this race.

And, anyone know what happened to those awesome shirts they begged us to vote for? I'm not complaining (especially for my $50 entry fee) but curious more than anything.

Went to urgent care after the race to get checked out and and get the road rash cleaned up. That sucked, but no as bad as the shower after. I am a little soar, but nothing was broken. Should be pretty well healed up in a couple of days. I am definitely glad I finished. Good to see everyone and meet those of you I hadnt met yet. Great job everyone!

Overall my first Tri experience was a blast. Everyone was so friendly and I think M.A rode by me when he was on his 2 loop of the bike. Correct me if I'm wrong. I will definitely continue in this sport. So here is my times. Wasn't very fast but I finished and now I have something to work towards. I did the sprint in case anyone was wondering

Swim Time: 14:05
Swim Rate: 2:49
Tran 1: 4:12 ( Need to work on my tran time)
Bike Time: 1:03:34
Bike Rate: 11.7
Tran 2: 2:47
Run Time: 41:25 (Not very happy about this because I can usually run under 30 min for a 5K)
Run Pace: 13:22
Penalty: None

Finish Time: 2:05:59.07

Event Division: M2529
Overall Place: 402/420
Division Place: 21/21

My goal for the next race which is Topeka Tinman is to be definitely under 2 hours and not be last in my Division. This was a great first race and I finished which is an accomplishment and I know what I need to work on. A few of those hills were killers for me but overall a flat course. Ill be rooting you guys on at the 70.3 spectating. Ill be there in a few years racing so good luck to all and see you out on the road.

Xterra always has them half price and sometimes better than that. You can also find deals in the clearance section of their web pageI don't wear a full tri suit but I'm sure you just need to hunt around online at all the normal spots and you'll find deals. I do most of my shopping at probikekit, sports basement, tri sports, running warehouse, and sometimes just googling what you are looking for will bring up great results. Always find a good deal, then google coupon codes for that place. More often than not you'll get another 10% offKeep training- you will get faster

FUN FUN FUUUUUUUN! Loved this race!

I'll second that. I had a great time out there and enjoyed every moment of it. I don't think overcrowding was an issue at all (my main worry). Plus, I got myself qualified for the championships as well with a 10th in my AG.

BTW, I think they're still reminding people to be out of transition by 7:00.
